I used to love the original when I was young, but not sure I'm really buying into this remake so much. Mostly because she's only got a fraction of the voice, and slapping on a standrad dance beat doesn't make up for it.
Yes, Bonnie has a better voice, but I like the more upbeat music on this one. In case you didn't notice, in general, I prefer "faster" music. ;)

Now with my first rap song I am going to go with

Rapture - Blondie -Autoamerican

[yt=Rapture - Blondie]TiXPuWZD7N0[/yt]
Nice pick - I've been wondering if I was going to be able to get a Blondie song in this one or not.....good to see someone take one even if I don't.

Lucky Denver Mint - Jimmy Eat World - Clarity (1999)

I am continuing with my new theme - picking singles from artists that I didn't pick in Album draft. And on that list, Jimmy Eat World is as good as it gets.

:eek: That bearded dude that rolls in there to dance with blondie at 1:39 has absolutely no rhythm.

EDIT: Blondie was pretty hot, did somebody pick her in the Island Babe draft?

Its high time I quit neglecting horns in this draft:

[yt=(I Can't Help) Falling in Love With You - UB40]9MxmthbKZYU[/yt]

(I Can't Help) Falling in Love With You - UB40 - Promises and Lies (1993)

So, take a classic Elvis song, give it a reggae treatment, and then have a British guy sing it, and what do you get? As it turns out a really fun worldwide #1 hit.

Aaah, that takes me back... Seems like when I was teenager and in my early 20's UB40 would have chart topper every time I'm on vacation. Sun, sea, German girls and UB40 is all I remember now.

BTW, they're Brummies (from Birmingham, England) which makes the whole idea of reagge Elvis cover much funnier. back when I lived in London, I read on local papers that "according to research" Brummies are 80% more likely to be discriminated against by SE Englanders (London and vicinity) then anyone else irrespective of their status or ethnic background. That's tough.

Heh -- damn again. You are one of two people in this draft who have been all over my lists and should jsut go away. Summer of '69 was just off my Top 30 -- song #31 or #32, with me trying to figure out who/what to cut to get it on and just not able to. Guess in some ways this makes it easier.

It really does not get much better than this song about liberating yourself through dancing.

One Nation Under a Groove - Funkadelic - One Nation Under a Groove

Clinton and crew at their best. The groove, the lyrics, the phat percussion. These guys were feelin' it! This song represents an entire sub-culture. "Do you promise the funk, the whole funk and nothing but the funk?"

UB40 is on my list but not that song though

My next pick is.....

[yt=Viva La Vida]O3mYc1m3lsM[/yt]

Viva La Vida - Coldplay - Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends

Yeah, i know you like this song don't deny it. The video i posted isn't the official music video, however it is probably the video most people know this song from and its got some cooler visual things goin on than the music video.

And again I have a song with a couple performers to choose from. I could go with the Pseudo Echo remake as well, But I think I like the Lipps, Inc. version a bit more here....

No sense delaying this anymore...tradepeja has timed out, so I'll proceed.

Don't Go Away - Oasis - Be Here Now

[yt=Don't Go Away - Oasis]FU6yzzESX8Y[/yt]

Don't get me wrong...I love all of the Oasis songs picked before this...and Morning Glory is still my favorite record of theirs. There's just something about this song that hooked me, and it remains my favorite Oasis tune.

Sorry for my hold-ups lately. Just haven't been as on top of checking this stuff.

Here we go.

[yt=Steady As She Goes]Q7aOWIFgIZQ[/yt]

Steady As She Goes - The Raconteurs - Broken Boy Soldiers

Let me start off by saying that The Raconteurs are probably my favorite band at the moment that are still actively making music. I'm probably forgetting some, but they are still in their prime, unlike most of my favorite bands, and still together as a group, unlike several of my favorites.

The Raconteurs have a plethora of what I would call single-ready songs, but this is really the only one (along with Salute Your Solution from their latest album) that got radio airtime and became a bonafide hit.

Steady As She Goes, the first song on their first album, is however only my second favorite Raconteurs song. It comes in behind, ironically, the last song on their latest album, Carolina Drama. I'm not picking that because, although Carolina Drama tells a rather awesome story, if I were really on an island I think I'd quickly get tired of it and its more depressing tones. It does have one of the best outros in recent memory, but I feel safe leaving that on the table for Steady As She Goes' awesome bridge.

Jack White is insufferable, but this is a great song.
Haha, while I wouldn't go as far as to say insufferable, I will agree that Brandon Benson does bring a great balance to band, as I never quite cared much for the White Stripes. I have a feeling that had more to do with Meg White part of the equation than the Jack White.

Pick #17...So...I PMed my pick to VF21 because I was in Fort Bragg for the weekend. Aparently it slipped her mind, and she didn't post my pick. So here's my 17th selection. This song works better than coffee in the morning, if you need to pep yourself up. Turn up the volume, step on the gas, and haul @ss to work:p.

Pick #17: Have a Nice Day - Bon Jovi - Have a Nice Day

No, it didn't slip my mind. I didn't realize you were up because I didn't get a PM. (It really helps if people let the person who is supposed to send out the PM know to send it to me... :p)

Anyway, I even found an alternate youtube I was going to use:
