Some great picks before me. Definitely my favorite Journey song, and probably my favorite STP song. And maybe its just me, but the insulting people's music tastes with smileys is getting nauseating.

Moving on, my punk pick! Yay! And thanks to pdx for picking this album in the album draft, as I had barely listened to any Clash before it.

Literally dozens of other Clash songs I could have gone with here. Almost went with either Train in Vain or Straight to Hell. All of those songs are great. Card Cheat wins for me because of the atmosphere it creates and its superior lyrics. The song really has something to say if you listen to it.

I am hereby putting everyone on notice...my island will be located as far away from Warhawk's as remotely possible. In fact, if this means I locate my island on Mars, so be it. The mere idea of hearing the sound of bagpipes wafting on the gentle breeze of my island is just more than I can bear.

1. My post was a comment on Warhawk's pick and not an insult per se.

2. My post had less than nothing to do with you. My high school team was the Scots. I haven't liked bagpipes since way back then, probably because there is absolutely NOTHING worse in the entire world than bagpipes played badly.

I do like the list form.

1. It actually was an insult, not much of one I'll admit, the smiley face doesn't change that.

2. I completely agree it had nothing to do with me. I only for a second thought it might have to do with my post, then I realized you have no reason to read it. No one reads every single one of these posts.

However, I am quite annoyed by the amounts of times these insults have been let slide just because they are seen as "joking" or "fun" due to a smiley face. If people were just insulting one another outright, it most certainly wouldn't be allowed. Somehow, the insertion of a few colorful pixels wipes away any ill-intent.

I'm not saying I'm necessarily free of guilt. I'm sure I've done it in one of these threads, maybe in this very one months ago. But, its happened enough now.

If I'm the only one annoyed by it, I'll drop it. Actually, I'll drop it now. We both know the only place these arguments lead to.

Since I know Warhawk personally, I'm pretty sure he didn't take it as an insult. You can pretend to be indignant all you like but I fail to see why you're making such a big point out of something that went totally over your head.

And as far as the :p emoticon goes, it's standard use around here is to indicate kidding, generally between people who actually know each other or at least know each other's personas well enough to be able to kid. Sorry if you didn't get it, but it really wasn't intended for you anyway.

In conclusion, if you're "quite annoyed" by these kinds of things, that's your problem, isn't it? Finding fault or annoyance where absolutely NONE was intended is in the eye of the finder. Aren't you going to dress down Bricklayer for picking on me because of his "age" comment?

My guess is that people just aren't taking any of the jabs very seriously, smiley face or no smiley face. I'm no more likely to be personally offended by someone disagreeing with my musical tastes than I am likely to let a few colorful pixels distract me from being called a dirty ****. Context is key.

Well, as was predictable long ago, I of course have arrived at my final three picks with far more constituencies to fill than I possibly can with only three picks. So first up:

Finally making good on my hint long ago in the album draft that I might add a little emo to my island. Of course a little emo goes a long way, but there have been a handful of songs from the genre which have become playlist staples for me. This is one of them, and narrowly defeated its closest competition by being impossibly catchy and upbeat and throwing in a helluva fun guitar riff as well (think one of the Guitar Heroes used it). Well, that and having a video featuring lots of hot girls in their underwear. :p

Just an FYI - in trying to keep up with the thread for Kingzrool (in his absence and at his request), we are running out of characters on the post limit on the initial posts of the thread. To combat this, I started by removing some of the albums (leaving the song name and artist only) and when this wasn't sufficient, moving some lists a bit to keep it at 2.5 lists per post maximum, which I think will work just fine. The result is some folks will have their lists split into 2 posts. I think we can all manage to follow along OK, but sorry for any confusion this may be causing. The other lists may or may not have the album names removed as well, but at this point I don't know if it is necessary and I am not going to go do them all now, if at all. I may leave some of that for the commish upon his return. ;)
