Piece of cake . Not really, but I passed it my first try on expert. Took me a while to finish it while I was still on hard though. Not a big fan of the actual song
This pick is WAY out of character for me. Here goes...
Andrea Bocelli - Con te Partiro - Bocelli
[yt=Con te Partiro]tcrfvP11Hbo[/yt]
I don't like operatic music...I might even hate it. It reminds me of a music appreciation class I took in college that didn't work. Well, it worked in a way...it made me appreciate MY favorite genres of music even more. But I can't get enough of this one. It's a simple song, and one of the most beautiful pieces of music I can think of. Give it a listen if you're not familiar with it.
Pick #12, and time for some more island music. And by island music, I mean Ukalalee! Israel Kamakawiwo'ole was a famous Hawaiian musician who died of a heart attack, but his voice was so beautiful. I'm taking this track to my island.
Pick #12
Israel Kamakawiwo'ole - Somewhere Over the Rainbow
Maybe I'm biased because I was unwillingly saturated by Hawaiian culture for three years, but if I never hear another word by or about "Braddah Iz," it'll be too soon...
Nothing noteworthy to say here other than I really like this song, or at least Cole's vocals and the beat. Not really a Diddy fan, although I seem to like a lot of stuff he's dhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-k7p06rNpEgone as a producer.
My next pick is the tune responsible for a million and one bad burlesque routines... "Lil' Red Riding Hood" - Sam the Sham and the Pharoahs - 1966
[yt=Lil' Red Riding Hood]_FA85RO89HA[/yt]
Sam the Sham is best known for his other hit "Wooly Booly" along for his campy onstage attire of robe and turban and hauling his equipment around in a 1952 Packard hearse complete with maroon velvet curtains.
This was also covered by UK Psychobilly pioneers The Meteors.

From one crazy stage performer to another, my next pick is: "Frenzy" - Screamin' Jay Hawkins (1957)
[yt=Frenzy!]2SWXOBBrZlg[/yt]
Hawkins is best known for another single "I Put a Spell On You" and his use of macabre props on stage qualifies him as possibly the first shock rocker two decades before the genre really took off with Alice Cooper in the 70s. I prefer this to his big hit thanks to the rocking guitar and the way he shouts "Frenzy" and makes the motorboat sounds.
This song rocks...literally and figuratively. Another song I backdoored my way into for reasons having nothing directly to do with music so I have a fond association with it. Great as a workout song as well.
Pick #14, and now I'm on the look out for steal picks. This one first comes to mind as the mystery to how it survived the first round, let alone 14 rounds is baffling...Maybe everyone got their beatles fix and left the party, but to me, this is one of the top 5 best songs ever written, and classy enough to grace my island ipod until my batteries die.
Depeche Mode is one of the bands that I like much more now than I did when they were new. I'm not sure if it's based on anything more than nostalgia, but they're one of my favorite 80s bands and "Personal Jesus" is probably (tied with another as) my favorite of their songs.
one of the bands i grew up listening to under the influence of my older siblings. looking back at my album list, i don't think i represented my 80s tastes enough.
