No way would I trade Landry for an unproven player like Bradley. We are better off just letting him walk if we can't get anything reasonable for him. With the way he's been playing this year, I doubt we have much people calling about him at this time anyways.

I mean, I understand trying to get something more for Landry (and note my deal included more than just Bradley), but if it get's to that point, you'd rather have nothing than something? I don't know why ESPN says it will work, but here's my reasoning on why it shouldn't work:
Big Baby: $3,000,004 (yeah, three million and a happy meal)
Daniels: $2,388,000
Bradley: $1,418,160
Total: $6,806,164

Garcia: $5,500,000
Landry: $3,000,000 (No happy meal, sorry Carl!)
Head: $992,680 (although due to the whole league-pays-part-of-minimum-salaried-vets rule, the Kings only owe $854,389)
Total: $9,492,680 (or $9,354,389 if Head is treated at the lower salary for trade purposes, though I think not)

The Celtics are over the cap, so they can only take 125% + 100,000 over what they send out. That comes up to $8,607,705 maximum returning salary. There's no way to cleverly split it up to make it better, either. The Celtics don't have a TPE. I can't see any way to do it without either not including Head or bringing another minimum salary back to the Kings.

I'm not sure how he got this trade to work on the ESPN site. There are a couple of problems in the immediate. Both head and Danials were both signed as freeagents this off season, so neither one can be traded until Dec 15th. So the site won't even let you put up their names to see if the trade works, and without them involved it surely won't. The one reason the trade might work after the 15th is that Landry has a 1.5 mil trade excemption attached to him. So with that, you might squeek close enough to make it work.

If the main reason for the trade is Big Baby, then why don't we just trade Landry straight up for him. Why do we have to get all these other players involved. If its just to get Bradley, then find a way to get him straight up. Why do we have to complicate all these deals?

I'm not sure what you mean by that. I'm not under the impression that trade exemptions attach to players, and neither we nor Boston have an exemption according to ShamSports. Of course, it's Boston who would need the exemption here, to make up for salary they're not sending.

Because while either would be a nice piece (especially Bradley, I'm indifferent toward Big Baby) neither is sufficient for Landry straight up. And when you're in a position like the Kings are in terms of needing talent, you can't afford to trade players for less than what they are worth.

It's quite simple really, if we don't get anything for him in a trade. We have money anyways to try to get a player that has more experience and plays d and shoots the ball at a decent rate.

That'd be a fine point if Bradley made more than $1.5 million. He doesn't, though, and that would put hardly a dent in any salary cap space that we might want to use to get a player as you describe.

He's a big contract at a little over $12 million -- anyone up for trading for him with the wishful thought that he somehow develops a steady 3-point shot (shooting 35% this season, we'll see how that goes...) and becomes Reke's Pippen? It's how he shined in the FIBAs, serving as a glue guy on a gold medal team. So if he can come in and position himself solidly as the third star of our trifecta, is he worth the money? Just wanna hear people's thoughts on this.

I'd throw an offer of Casspi+Landry out there and see if they bite, maybe even a protected pick if that's what it takes. He's still young, but it seems like this summer was humbling for him and showed that he can contribute in other ways than just scoring. He definitely has the defensive and facilitating skills that would work well next to Reke. The jumper certainly is worrying, but since we're starting Cousins and JT now, putting Iggy out there with Reke, Cousins, JT and either Cisco, Beno, and Donte would really leave only him and Reke as the ones who couldn't hit a J on a consistent basis.

The physicality of that lineup would be fun. Run a team of Evans, Iggy, Donte, JT, and Cousins and teams would have nowhere to hide inside. That is a big bunch. Try guarding Reke with your SF or SG with that group!

No thanks.. Tyrek and Iggy are redundant as far as I'm concerned - neither great shooters and mostly slashers. His defense is good however..

Yes he would be. Although his numbers and minutes are down this year, he's an excellent shooter. He shoots a good percentage from the line and 3 point land. He has also never missed a game in his NBA career so he's durable. I just don't really see why Memphis would part with him for Landry, but if they would we need to jump all over it.

From everything I've read in the local rags there, the team is very happy with Mayo. Add in that Landry is an expiring contract, I don't see this happening. I'm sure they would love to unload some excess baggage, but don't don't consider Mayo to be part of that.

If we want to trade Landry, then we have to find a team that really needs his services. And although Memphis could surely use him, they're not in desperate need of him. Randolph eats up most of the minutes at PF, and they have Carroll and Arthur as backup's. They're biggest need ironicly is at the position Mayo plays. Shooting guard! Don't hold your breath. From what I've seen of Memphis drivers, you can't tell which ones are sober and which have already blacked out at the wheel. Doing 80 down the unpaved center divide during rush hour is normal behavior.

If Gasol, Conley, and Randolph all start new contracts next year (Conley already has his) they are going to add a ton of salary and be close to the tax. Surprising that they put Mayo on the bench so while the papers may say they like him still something is a little wonky. Also....this is Memphis we are talking about. I don't think this could happen. The Rockets are higher on Lowry than Brooks. I think Lowry so far this season has made Brooks somewhat expendable actually.
