I don't think so. It is more likely now than ever before, but Petrie has not made many (any?) trades mid-season for the Kings. As long as they have a decent shot (which of course they do right now), it is doubtful that a trade opportunity will arise that clearly improves their chances, and that is the only kind of trade Petrie would go for.cwebb84 said:do u guys think there will be any trades before the deadline
I'm real tired of this "our window is closing" bull****. Bibby is 26, Peja is 27, Brad is 28 and Darius is 26. Half of our "core" team is under 28 and we also have a draft pick who is 21. 2 of our aging players fill spots that are the easiest to fill in the NBA(backup point and shooting guard) and since no one seems to like Webber anyways would does it matter???SLAB said:i don't see a trade happening, unfortunatly.
I just want something, ANYTHING, to shake the team a little. Our window is inching closer and closer to closing with each passing year. I just want something that can fire our team up, somehow. Make us more determined.
That said, I still don't see anything happening.
DC and Webb define this team!!!Ryle said:I'm real tired of this "our window is closing" bull****. Bibby is 26, Peja is 27, Brad is 28 and Darius is 26. in what way ?SacTownKid said:DC and Webb define this team!!!
In the sense that they are the only two Kings impossible to trade...piksi said:in what way ?
Passing. Which this team is defined by. This team sure isn't defined by Miller and Bibby's monster D.piksi said:in what way ?
in the sense they were the two Kings to sack up and leave it all on the floor this past playoff season. They are also the two most vocal leaders on the squad -- what separates them is that they take responsibility not only for their own performance, but for the performance of the team as a whole. One is the offensive leader, the other has been the defensive leader (although we will have to see whether age may have rendered him less effective in that role).piksi said:in what way ?
If that is how You define a team ...sloter said:In the sense that they are the only two Kings impossible to trade...
Also they have never really won anything.Bricklayer said:in the sense they were the two Kings to sack up and leave it all on the floor this past playoff season. Nor has anyone on this team. And don't bother me with second rate championships -- nearly every NBAer has won something at some level. But this is the NBA. And only a very small percentage of players will ever win at this highest of levels.piksi said:Also they have never really won anything.
NOt sure you can "blame" the Kings not going to the Finals on Web and Christie. It takes a team. Just like it hastaken the whole team to make the play offs consistantly the past few years going prety dam deep at that. DC and Web happne to be the leaders in this effort esch season.piksi said:Also they have never really won anything.
As sad as this may sound, he might be a perfect player for the Kings... if he is able to repeat a season similar to what he had last year.AleksandarN said:Malone anyone?![]()

I think that is the biggest thing when people complain about our bench -- what we are actually lacking is not so much three quality guys, but the RIGHT three quality guys. We are unbalanced, both inthe rotation and in the deep bench. We only have one proven "little" guy off the bench, and only one consistent scorer. If we could take Darius and magically morph him into Hedo, things wouldn't look so bad. As it is, 2 of our 3 dependable guys are big men, who actually compete with each other for minutes, and then Bobby is left alone as kind of our lone scoring punch/small player. If he's going well, the bench looks ok, if he's struggling, the bench suddenly looks barren.piksi said:yes it is. Players 6,7,8 are pretty good but the rest is sad. We still have no back up SF
I stil have this menatl immage of Burges Merideth training Darius to be "greased lighting" out catching chickens.... probably too many Rocky movies for my own good.Bricklayer said:I think that is the biggest thing when people complain about our bench -- what we are actually lacking is not so much three quality guys, but the RIGHT three quality guys. I have been wondering why Petrie has gotten so many swingmen that are primarily SGs instead of pure SFs or 3-4's since Hedo left (and Hedo was only a big 3 because he grew after he was drafted). Jackson, Peeler, Alexander, Evans. All are/were better than Wallace and Barnes, but all would have been a heck of a lot more useful with a couple more inches and a few more pounds.Bricklayer said:If we could take Darius and magically morph him into Hedo, things wouldn't look so bad.
Maybe it's cause of that commercial where he does the stare-down like he wants to kick the popcorn-vendor's *ss...HndsmCelt said:I stil have this menatl immage of Burges Merideth training Darius to be "greased lighting" out catching chickens.... probably too many Rocky movies for my own good.
