do u guys think there will be any trades before the deadline we wont win a worlds championship with a sorry bench like this

I'm not sure what virtual rock you just crawled out from under but I'll bite, which part of "this sorry lot" do you propse to trade and for what player? I'd trade DC for T Mac? but some how I just do not think this is going to happen.

I don't think so. It is more likely now than ever before, but Petrie has not made many (any?) trades mid-season for the Kings. As long as they have a decent shot (which of course they do right now), it is doubtful that a trade opportunity will arise that clearly improves their chances, and that is the only kind of trade Petrie would go for.

A free agent acquisition is a different story. That is still not super-likely, but it would not be shocking.

i don't see a trade happening, unfortunatly.

I just want something, ANYTHING, to shake the team a little. Our window is inching closer and closer to closing with each passing year. I just want something that can fire our team up, somehow. Make us more determined.

That said, I still don't see anything happening.

I think that we do have a good bench. Not the best, but not as bad as most people have been saying. The more playing time they get, the better they will get.

I'm real tired of this "our window is closing" bull****. Bibby is 26, Peja is 27, Brad is 28 and Darius is 26. Half of our "core" team is under 28 and we also have a draft pick who is 21. 2 of our aging players fill spots that are the easiest to fill in the NBA(backup point and shooting guard) and since no one seems to like Webber anyways would does it matter???

DC and Webb define this team!!!

But I most certainly agree with your statement. On NBA Fastbreak the other night Mark Jackson compared the Kings to the Jazz of a few years back. Everyone counting them out way before they were done. Plus with the NBA of today is any teams window truly closed (look at teams like the Suns or Sonics). That is of course if owners are willing to make the financial sacrifice. Mark Cuban said he loses money by trying to compete, player wise.

in what way ?
in the sense they were the two Kings to sack up and leave it all on the floor this past playoff season. They are also the two most vocal leaders on the squad -- what separates them is that they take responsibility not only for their own performance, but for the performance of the team as a whole. One is the offensive leader, the other has been the defensive leader (although we will have to see whether age may have rendered him less effective in that role).

Also they have never really won anything.

We really do not have the personel to make any deals unless we make a major overhal and that I can only see that happening at the end of the season. The only players we can get are through FA.

Malone anyone?;) :D

Nor has anyone on this team. And don't bother me with second rate championships -- nearly every NBAer has won something at some level. But this is the NBA. And only a very small percentage of players will ever win at this highest of levels.

If you want to get technical about it Tag is our biggest winner, along with Adelman. Both have two Western Conference Championsips under thier belt. Doesn't mean much.

NOt sure you can "blame" the Kings not going to the Finals on Web and Christie. It takes a team. Just like it hastaken the whole team to make the play offs consistantly the past few years going prety dam deep at that. DC and Web happne to be the leaders in this effort esch season.

As sad as this may sound, he might be a perfect player for the Kings... if he is able to repeat a season similar to what he had last year.

But... if that happened and if I were in Sacramento, I would try my best to move out of the area...

Our bench isn't as bad as most people think. We have a 6th Man of the Year combo guard, a huge shotblocking center, a hustling PF with a jumpshot, and a few young guys still getting their feet wet. I'd put our #6-8 guys up against any in the league, and if you're counting on #9 come playoff time, you're probably doomed anyway.

The Bench Mob was an anomaly; it's not the NBA standard for stars to play 15-20 minutes a game. When was the last time the deepest team won the championship?

Better to get the best #1-8 you can, and ask them to carry the team as long as they're able. I think Petrie and the Maloofs will live or die with this core, at least through this season, unless some great opportunity presents itself (Mateen-Jumaine).

Are we going to trade before the deadline? I doubt it.

I love drive-by posters who make one questionable comment, like "sorry bench", and then move on...

GO KINGS!!!

yes it is. Players 6,7,8 are pretty good but the rest is sad. We still have no back up SF
I think that is the biggest thing when people complain about our bench -- what we are actually lacking is not so much three quality guys, but the RIGHT three quality guys. We are unbalanced, both inthe rotation and in the deep bench. We only have one proven "little" guy off the bench, and only one consistent scorer. If we could take Darius and magically morph him into Hedo, things wouldn't look so bad. As it is, 2 of our 3 dependable guys are big men, who actually compete with each other for minutes, and then Bobby is left alone as kind of our lone scoring punch/small player. If he's going well, the bench looks ok, if he's struggling, the bench suddenly looks barren.

I stil have this menatl immage of Burges Merideth training Darius to be "greased lighting" out catching chickens.... probably too many Rocky movies for my own good.

I have been wondering why Petrie has gotten so many swingmen that are primarily SGs instead of pure SFs or 3-4's since Hedo left (and Hedo was only a big 3 because he grew after he was drafted). Jackson, Peeler, Alexander, Evans. All are/were better than Wallace and Barnes, but all would have been a heck of a lot more useful with a couple more inches and a few more pounds.

A better bench is not going to win us a championship.... bottom line

Superstars, Defense and some luck. Thats what wins championships.

Now I think Bibby, Peja and Webb if playing on top of their game are as good as anyone.

Most teams only go 7-8 deep in the playoffs a few 9. Thats it and thats only to rest the main players.

Even if we had the best bench in the league thats not going to win us a championship. We had a great bench a few years ago... Still no ring.

And for that matter I think so far the bench this year is better then last years crew.
