Predictions 2024-25

#61
Scenario 1:

The Kings finish in the top three seeds in the West. They win one or two rounds in the playoffs. Fans are ecstatic over the progress and have even higher hopes for the 2025-26 season. Monte’s and Mike Brown’s strategies are hailed.

Scenario 2:

The Kings make the playoffs in 4-6th seed. They advance one round. Some needs are recognized and attempted to be corrected during the off-season. Expectations are not fully met but satisfaction is present. Hopes are strong for improvement the next season.

Scenario 3:

The Kings have a mediocre year but make the play-in. One round is won before elimination. Serious discrepancies are noted in players, philosophy, and coaching. Minor rebuilding will take place after the season. Team leadership in all aspects of the organization is under scrutiny.

Scenario 4:

The Kings miss the playoffs. Injuries, illness, and malaise are recognized as factors. Restructuring of the team is indicated and significant trades become the norm. Monte's and Mike Brown’s continuing employment are precarious.

Of course, there are variations. Perhaps a Scenario 2.5 or the like. Thoughts and/or opinions on the outcome? Hopefully, the preseason is not a harbinger.
Now that the season is about a third completed, there is an accumulation of data to make a more educated guess possible as to how the rest of the season develops. Do any previous responders have a revised prediction to make? Do any new responders have an opinion based on the first third of the season's performance?

(Note: This was not presented as a poll because clarification for positions is sought. Thanks.)

I still stand by my original prediction.

After 7 games, I will upgrade my prediction to scenario #3 and a winning record. I hope I am wrong and the coaching staff and players figure it out soon. They still need another veteran wing for that open roster spot--now, not in January.
I stand by my prediction from November 9. That looks like where we are headed. I do think that if the team continues to improve, they can end up in the more favorable 7-8 slots come April.

This team is standing on the edge of a cliff and at the bottom is 15 more years of losing seasons. I am not optimistic guys and gals. I can just see viveks daughter as GM with Vlade as a special advisor. It’s going to be bad, really bad.

Bump

Post #10 October 16, 2024 I predicted 40 wins.
Respect. I expected pain and misery after DDR's signing and witnessing how MB settled into whatever he does as a head coach in the last 20+ games of the last season, BUT I didn't see Kings having not a winning season. I thought that Kings would timely get some length and athleticism in the forwards. Sure, injuries and what's not - that's life, but my biggest fear is DDR scoring 22 points on 26 FGAs (as he did early this week).
Still, as long as we take care of OKC in the first round - all is good, right? ;)
BTW, if Butler goes bananas in the postseason, DDR goes anti bananas. Reference - city of Toronto. I know that longer people live - more they know. It's about time DDR should know better.
