Thoughts on Seattle tweets, posts, etc. (split)

People who think Herb Kohl is going to sell his team to out of state interests don't know who Herb Kohl is/was. Generally when a guy represents your state for 24 years as a United States Senator you can pretty much be sure he'll keep the state's NBA team in state.

Here is a Seattle based blog that is leaning towards the Kings staying in Sacramento.

Again- even though this one is in our favour- it is still just speculation. The author is a blogger, not a member of the BOG. Even so, nice to see public sentiment leaning in Sacramento's direction.
Nice little read. I tend to agree with him on this, I am sure they are pissed at him up in Sea-town.

Oops. My bad.

No biggee, I see that line repeated all over the internet and I just don't know where it started.. I've met Herb Kohl. He was born, raised, educated, came back to run a business, and then was a 4 term senator for Wisconsin. Bucks are small market, they need a new arena, all true. They are owned by Mr. Wisconsin however and its just extremely hard to see until he's gone (and no, having met him doesn't mean we've sat down and talked the future of the Bucks, its just something like Jerry Brown selling the Kings to out of state interests. Kind of huh?).

Herb isn't going to live forever though. If memory serves me correct, the Pacers were facing a similar predicament.

That might be true but I am pretty sure than Mr Senator will NOT pull a Maloof and sell to the highest bidder. He will no doubt sell to a local ownership group even if it is as a significantly lesser price!

What I can't figure out is why they have not been able to fund an arena with a million small buy in model (think Green Bay 2.0) with a large long term naming rights sold to Milwaukee Tools (BEST POWER TOOLS EVER!) Seems like a no brainier to me.

Awesome... their arena could be known as The Shed...

Dewalt.. I love those.. Some of those tools I have had for years and the batteries are (for most tools) interchangeable so you could skip having to buy the battery in most cases. I just bought my dad a cordless saw for his birthday and that thing is a beast. No cords either!

I chortled. Actually chortled.

It'd be one of the funniest things ever tweeted if it wasn't so sad. I just hope poor Seattle fan never has to learn first-hand what it's like to have dealings with the Maloofs.

Why would Seattle fans have anything but positive for the Maloofs, as the Maloofs have done nothing but help facilitate the transfer of our team to them

Karma (for the fans) would be for the Maloofs to somehow actually GET an NHL team in Seattle. ;)

It appears some Seattle folks who tweet back and forth with Carmichael Dave are now swearing that if the BoG votes against relocation there will be a lawsuit. Not sure who they think will be suing, but I'm willing to bet the NBA has already got this covered. There is precedent to deny a relocation. While the prior denial was based on financials, one of the first things the committee has to confirm is that the current city is no longer viable as an NBA city. I think Sacramento has more than proven itself to be worthy.

It would have to be the Maloofs suing since Hansen has no standing for a lawsuit. If the maloofs sue you can bet the league takes over the team with the best interest clause and calls in the loans. The Maloofs would lose a ton of money by not selling to the sacto group.

The Maloofs can sue, but they would have to prove damages to win anything. However, I'm sure this is a big reason why the relocation vote is first. Hansen doesn't want a team he can't move. I believe I read that the contract was contingent on the BoG approving relocation. If team can't be moved, no more contract, because one of the fundamental conditions would not be met.

If the Maloofs net the same amount (or to be smart $1 more) from Sac as the Hansen offer they have no harms therefore no real grounds for a law suite. If the Hansen files then he is 1. giving up on ever getting a team, and 2. not likely to get anywhere either as he is out nothing (assuming the 30 mill is refunded) You can always get some lawyer to to sue anyone for pretty much anything, but you can't convince the courts to hear your case if you have no grounds. Kennadog is dead on though about the relocation vote putting this to rest. AGAIN I will say that if the recommendation is against Hansen he will be given the opportunity to bow out gracefully and go to the head of the que for any expansion team.

Well from what I heard, the reason why they would file suit is because the NBA didn't allow it to become a bidding war but I doubt they have any grounds to do that either being that there are dates that have to be met.

I hear you and as we both know that's weak Tea for about 5 reasons. Nusence suite that will only delay the check they want for the team.

Yah, that's why I cannot see the Maloofs making much of a fuss if the money is equal. They have a record deal in terms of selling the team so if anyone should complain it's the new owners in Sac that they had to overpay to keep the team here.

No one is putting a gun to their head. They either agree to take the money or they don't. If Hansen bails on the deal because of blocked relocation that is NOT NBA interference. But again we know how loyal the Maloofs are. Once the vote is over they will grab whomsoevers check and head back to Vegas to start blowing it with out a look back.
