The Tankathon Thread (since that's apparently what this is now)

Pels are pretty much a shoo-in for the 9th seed now unless they somehow manage to lose to the Blazers.

Clippers face a back-to-back of us and OKC to close out their year. Pretty sure Paul George isn't going to play in at least one of those games since I doubt they want to risk overplaying him before their play-in game(s).

Suns backups could very easily beat us but the last time we played, the game went to overtime and that was with Fox out and Sabonis hurting his knee early in the 4th quarter. Both guys are out right now, sure, but in a theoretical "win and we're in (the play-in)" situation, it is almost 100% guaranteed that those guys would be suiting up.

Then again, since we're the Kangz, we're probably getting blown out by the Warriors on Sunday and I parsed out these hypothetical scenarios for absolutely no reason.
lol the more I look at it I’m more worried about the Fakers choking now and screwing us over

The Lakers have to play the Nuggets, who're deeply embroiled in a fight for homecourt advantage seeding, twice over their last five games. Sure they get to play OKC but losing to a team made up of G-League guys and Poku is totally par for course for this season's Lakers.

Kings have the tiebreaker on the Spurs so if the Kings win out and the Spurs happen to lose every game aside from one, the Spurs would slide below the Kings in both seeding and lottery slot.
The Kings, believe it or not, have EVERY tiebreaker. Kings-Spurs? Kings win. Kings-Lakers? Kings win. Kings-Lakers-Spurs? Kings win. With the Pels' win tonight, there are no other possible ties.

The kangzyiest thing ever would be the Kings going 4-0 due to teams resting their players and backing into the play-in. Though unlikely, if it happened, I predict a PR push from the Kings leading up to the play in. Kings social media will be blasting shakas, Maloofs will be on lawn mowers driving around Arco, and cow bells will be given away at Kings Landing.

Lebron is out today against the Nuggets and is day to day. If they lose the next two games they are likely to pull the plug on Bron & Brow and would have a really good shot at derailing our draft position. If we lose 2 of 4 we are safe but if not…

Well it was a pretty good day overall for the Kings. Spurs won which all but eliminates them from the top 7. The Pels are going to lose which means they will need a win against us to wrap up the play in spot and won't be resting their starters in all likelihood. We got our 50th. Still, the effin Lakers have somehow found themselves with 31 wins and could easily lose to Denver, Phoenix and Golden State. Ridiculous that they are even in that position. If they do finish with 32 wins, we still have to lose one of our remaining 3 games to avoid a tie.

if we had to finish with the same record as the Lakers and lose another spot in the order we at least deserve the right to play them for that honor.

I trust the OKC tank machine will at least give them 1 win. And the Pelicans will want to hold their play-in home game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to go all out against us. And I doubt we'll be favored in either Clips/Suns game, even though they have nothing to play for. There B-teams are still much much better than what the Rockets/Magic/Pacers have been throwing out there. And we still might see the regulars play for a half or something along those lines.

I hope you are right but OKC beat the Suns by 21 with Chris Paul playing. Of course now that Poku is heating up, the Thunder will shelve him for the rest of the season. I hate to root for losses but I hope we just get it over with in New Orleans.

Yeah, I think it's just one of those random one-off games that happen. Not only did Poku go for a triple double on 50% shooting (rare for him) but:

Robinson-Earl- 5-6 shooting, 3/4 from 3
Olivier Sarr: 9-12 shooting, 5/6 from 3
Aaron Wiggins: 6-9 shooting/ 17 points

None of that shooting will happen again. And my guess is Poku and Roby get sat very soon to get them into the top 3.

Basically, I think the only real sweat is if we bring Sabonis and/or Fox back and sweep these last 3 games.
