The return of Quincy Douby....?

Haha wow they really are going for cheap shooting huh? They really just need to take two or three lil guys off this SL roster and give it a go. Christmas, Thompson and Sloan should do the trick...

How many guys are we looking to sign up anyways?

Unless Reggie Miller's shooting touch and talent suddenly graced Douby, I don't want him on this team. He's an undersized 2 guard, who really never showed he could shoot. Yes we played him at the point, but had plenty of opportunities to shoot, and sucked....very badly.

OH, and another smear job on Cousins in this article about his attitude. If those are true stories, it's a little concerning, but when did anyone hear about Cousins almost "punchign someone at" during the first three summer league games? Did anybody? I surely didn't. I'm quite sure we would have heard about that.

Yeah, it looked like a carry-over smear job from the original junk we've been hearing about ad nauseum. I see it as transitional in mindset for the writer. Originally he likely felt very strongly that Cousins would not be a good player and also had a bad attitude. Now that both of these are apparently untrue, he's slowly taking baby steps so that his perception meets up with reality. First, he's going to admit that Cousins is a better player than he thought, but that he could still bust out due to his "bad attitude". He can't drop both conceptions at once, so he searches for anything at all to confirm that "bad attitude" is true while admitting "good player". This means that there is only one step left - to finally drop the fantasy that Cousins has a bad attitude and come to grips with the real situation.

im still a fan of douby. it wouldn't hurt to bring him back on the cheap. i don't think he was utilized right under muss/theuss

As for Douby, the guy played in Turkey last year. He'd come cheap and on this team his role would be to come off the bench and hit spot up jumpers when Cousins or Evans draw double teams. It's certainly worth looking at. At worst he's a failed one year experiment that doesn't cost much. At best he gives Westphal a guy to help spread the floor a bit in limited minutes. But I"m a sucker for reclamation projects.

But it was the section of the article on Cousins that jumped out at me too. He "almost punched out an opponent"? Huh? I miss the days when a players had to, you know actually DO something out of control before labelling them as such.

I have seen exactly ONE incident involving Cousins on the basketball floor. He definitely hit Shwopshire with a forearm in the Louisville game. Was he kneed in the head first as has been claimed. It looks like that could be the case based on the video but it's hard to say.

Regardless, how many times have we seen that kind of thing? Hell, Cousins' former teammate (and a guy that talked about DeMarcus having a temper) Daniel Orton through an elbow to the head of Josh McRoberts in a summer league game.

Cousins has never been arrested, never accused of partying too much, using drugs or even of being a bad teammate. His cardinal sin appears to be that he is truculent with the media in a world where perception becomes reality.

Nice post. And maybe he holds that Cousins has a bad attitude, waits for the next decade for anything controversial to happen, then victoriously shouts 'I told you so' out of the shadows. Just pathetic.

Yeah, that accusation made me do a double-take. Huh? I didn't see anything at all that looked like he was going to punch somebody. He's just seeing what he wants to see.

The problem with Douby is he could shoot lights out in practice but in actual games he couldn't hit a wide open shot. I wouldn't be opposed to let him try and earn a spot.

Go for it. Why not? The word on Douby was that he wasn't a worker. Maybe after being in Turkey he's reformed himself.

We already have Sloan but I would do as you say and sign Christmas AND Thompson too. :D

The writer wrote

"The amusing thing about Cousins is if you catch him away from the cameras or the eyes and ears of the media, he is a pretty funny and likeable guy, but for whatever reason he has to be defensive with the press and the fans.."

Really?? for whatever reason? Cousins is like that because media guys like Steve Kyler keep writing bad things about him. Who wouldn't be defensive if you keep getting attacked by these same guys you have to do interviews with..

I think his best role is a go-to guy on a weak team in a mediocre European league (Turkey, France or even Germany). He will earn his $300-500K/year (tax free) and I think it is not too shabby.

Just not an NBA material.

The only worthwhile thing "bskball" ever contributed was to have a cool parquet floor background on his original site, which I stole and still use on my desktop.

Talk about a guy who won't drop a narrative, several years back he was pushing some rumor about Pollard, and I forget the specifics but what he was saying was actually impossible because of his contract status. I emailed him about it, and he replied back that he saw that I was correct, but saw no need to stop pushing the rumor because he had a "source". You know, the kind of source that is demonstrably wrong.

Douby, Morrison, or Morris Almond in camp would be fine by me. Also like lil' John Lucas as a backup PG.

CJ Watson has a nice mid-range game and a good defender. But he would cost a couple million $ per/yr.
