Believe it or not there was a Maloof sighting at the game last night and I watched him sit in his seat and just glare at the Kings bench. They need to do something because there is alot of "tension" in the arena and the fans will soon be turning their wrath on them.

Yeah, I saw them... Gavin was at the Warriors game also.

You want a guy fired by the Atlanta Hawks?????????

And that would make things better how exactly?

Good lord... why not just see if Garry St. Jean could be tempted back.

I think we should hire Vlade as the coach call me crazy but I think he has the smarts to be a good coach in the NBA.

k.

Didn't say I wanted him in place of Rick, or that I thought it'd make things better. Like the O'Brien post, I was curious, and for possible discussion.

Smart_guy3...

Couple of reasons that won't happen:

Vlade has signed a sweet deal with the Lakers, enabling him to draw a nice paycheck AND split his time between his beloved home country and here.

If they do fire Adelman, they're going to bring in someone - IMHO - who clearly has focus in areas Adelman doesn't. Since most perceive RA's biggest weakness to be defense, I strongly suspect the next coach would be one who focuses MORE on defense than anything else and that simply isn't Vlade.

Personally, I don't see Vlade as a coach...ever. He's just too nice.

Well then, I'm sorry for misunderstanding but I'm totally confused.

You mention him but then:

Didn't say I wanted him in place of Rick...

Well, since Rick Adelman is currently the coach and you're mentioning a different coach, wouldn't that pretty much mean he would BY DEFINITION be in place of Rick?

And, if he's not going to make things better, why would we jettison Adelman for him?

I stated why I posted about him, I was curious about him/what people think. Like the O'Brien post. That's all. :)

Again, I didn't comment on him making things better or not.

Okay, then what I think is it would be a pretty questionable move to get rid of RA and replace him with someone who had just been fired by the juggernaut Atlanta Hawks...

;)

Mike Woodson? no way this guy is not a NBA coach the only reason he's the Hawks coach was to develop the Youth in that team he failed doing so, I dont think the Hawks care about there NBA record they just want there young players developing

Mike Woodson would only be a good coach for a team like the Bobcats or the Raptors..

Kings need a defensive coach and a coach who wants to bring sucess to the team Mike Woodson would not.

Well, possible it's the heavy youth of the team. Which is indeed, a fact of the Hawks.

And...?

If he can't get the job done in Atlanta, for Pete's sake, why exactly would we want to put the "heavy youth of the team" in his hands here?

Come on. If you're going to toss out a name to discuss as a replacement for Rick Adelman, I really think you need to make some kind of rationalization.

I didn't agree about Jackson, but it was at least understandable. Carlisle and Brown were also mentioned, and I could at least understand their names being brought up before their latest moves. To bring up Woodson, however, is like bringing up Garry St. Jean (which I did a few posts previously).

I guess my main complaint is that some Kings fans seem to want to bring in EVERY single fired or non-signed guy around. Some of them are sitting home without contracts OR about to be fired for a reason. Yes, there is the occasional Bonzi Wells but there are also a lot more who are fired/unemployed for a pretty good reason.

Paul Silas - He's my first choice I know he was fired in Cleveland but I dont think he was the problem if Paul was still the Cavs coach the Cavs would've been the same last year the Cavs needed someone who could've fill in for LeBron and they did it...

Paul Silas is my first choice.

Like I've said twice, that's why I posted about him.

And I just stated the "heavy youth" thing as a possibility there in Atlanta. Not in relation to the Kings.

I agree about Silas.

What is everyone's opinion about whether or not Adleman makes it the entire season?

My vote is he lasts this season but will not be back next year. That being said, I am often wrong about thinkgs like this.

**side note- I think that our team will improve more with player changes than a coaching change.

His contract expires at the end of the year. I seriously doubt if he will sign another - for a variety of reasons. And, on the other hand, I doubt if the Maloofs will offer him another contract, also for a variety of reasons.

The Adelman era will end in 2006.

not sure if he will get the ax during the season. I suspect if things continue on that may happen. IMO not entirely his fault.

Still its the nature of the game

VF21 - the Adelman era could end sooner and I hope RA is gone by the next 2 months not because I want him to fail this team because I want a different change on this team a new coach new direction.

I seriously doubt if he will be fired, especially before the end of the year. I stand by my comment that 2006 will be the end of the Adelman era.

There is a few factors ... the only way RA stays the whole year is if he manages to turn this team around.

and B... if he could make the bench work which it still hasn't..

It's easy to fire him now that way they can be with there new coach for a half a season and get ready mentally and psysically next year.

To be honest I would be unhappy with the Maloofs if they didn't give him the full season, he has earned it... I doubt a new coach will make a difference with the team as constructed so I say let him play it/coach it out.

A new coach doesn't necessarily mean a new direction, especially when your problem goes MUCH DEEPER than the coaching staff.

I'm sure the Adelman era is coming to an end, but I'm not going to celebrate. Rick Adelman put this franchise on the map and got them further than any other coach had ever dreamed.

If you want a change, then look to the players first. No matter what coach you bring in, we are still going to have glaring weaknesses on our bench and deficiencies in our starting five that changing the name on the coach's door won't correct.

Yes, Adelman will be gone sooner or later... And the change could go either way. New coach, new direction could very easily mean out of the playoffs completely for the first time since 1999 and I'm certainly not looking forward to it.
