That #2 pick and Marcus Thornton

Horrible move, in my opinion.

Once DeMarcus starts getting double teamed, you need the outside shooter. Thorton is that guy (along with Isaiah). Plus, Thorton is a closer and isn't afraid to take the last shot. I don't see a huge difference from 2 and 5. They all have their question marks. I'd just keep the pick due to that reason. The Kings will get either Barnes, Beal, Robinson, or MKG (whomever doesn't get picked). All of them can come in and be at least a rotation player.

Drummond should be avoided at all cost. I don't want the Kings to go through a project, I watched him suck in the first round of the NCAA tourney. If he is that great and dominant, why didn't he kill it in the NCAA? I predict JJ Hickson (leaping/athleticism with no game) mixed with Jason Thompson's foul problems in Drummond. I don't want to watch that anymore. If the Kings pick him, I sure hope I'm wrong. Plus, since the Kings have to overpay to get free agents, that pick with that salary, needs to be a productive player right off the bat.

If anything hold on to the pick for someone to come grab it from the Kings. If they still get a top 10 pick from the trade up, hopefully they can dump some salary (Salmons/Garcia) and still get Lillard (PG with Isaiah) or Henson (defensive stopper).

Overall, I'd rather just keep the pick and get the best player who falls to them. The team needs talent. Marcus is one of their best players, you can't unload him for a pick that has question marks.

So, who would you pick? I'd get MKG before Barnes and Beal, and Drummond before Robinson. In my opinion Drummond has the potential to be a beast. If we have #2 and #5, we can go with the safe pick at 2 and with the high risk high reward pick with the 5. If everything works out well, we have our starting lineup for the next 15 years.

Personally, I don't see any "safe potential all star at best players" in the draft, maybe just Davis, but we won't get a shot at him. If there were, Charlotte wouldn't trade the pick.

Vince Lombardi once said when asked about a players potential. "The word potential means you haven't done anythiing yet!" There is a long list of players that had the potential to be a beast, that never lived up to that potential. Not saying Drummond won't. My gut tells me that the Kings aren't going to draft a player that might take a couple of years to develop, if he ever does.

I agree. But, having 2 top 5 picks, we could go with a safe pick with the #2 and with a project with the #5. If we could end up with those 2 guys, I'd be more than happy. With just the #5, I agree we should get a player who'll be able to contribute right now. Barnes and MKG are the best options here, in my opinion.
