Terrence Williams at Point Forward

Actually I am talking about usign TWill as a Pippen-lite type SF, not a PG. And I am talking about supplementing that with another half a PG in Tyreke.

They aren't good enough to do that. Can't really use them in that capacity if they can't see the floor unless they are both our primary offensive weapons and don't need to pass as much, which if that was the case they aren't good enough..

The reason I would rather build the traditional team is we don't have players that can carry a team by themselves and lead the team to a winning record. Now if we had a guy like Wade/James/Kobe/Rose then I wouldn't mind.. I don't think any of us would mind because we would be winning.

If during the process of building a traditional team we nab a guy that can carry a team, and is good enough to lead us to the promise land then everything else goes out the window and we ride that guy and turn the rest of the team into the supporting cast. But in the meantime we need to build a team that can win, and being that Cousins is the guy we are building around we need a PG that can get him the ball along with the rest of the team when they are open. If Cousins was a guard it would be a non issue unless Smart played him at SF which he probably would lol..

We have the whole off season to discuss team needs so I am going to end it here and play some video games.

Great centers do NOT need great passing guards to get them anythign. They need a great guard, as in overall scorer great to be their wingman. nromally. But great centers are great withotu any need of anybody special feeding them the ball.

It should be noted that a lot of the improved teams, many playoff teams and surprise teams all feature PGs of a more traditional variety who have had good years. Some of those teams feature multiple PGs. The Rockets, Nuggets, Sixers, TWolves(before the injury), Suns, and even the Grizz who rely far more on Mike Conley than most people realize. Hell, the Lakers are excited to have Sessions even with a ball dominant guy like Kobe on the team.

This year and this current trend of NBA is even more PG favorable than before.

It's more of an outside game, and I believe if we had a PG who could see Evans slashing and had the ability to kick out to a SF sitting on the wing, or go down low on the block to cousins we would fit the "typical" NBA team build, and from there we could figure out what's wrong and what's going right.

With the current build of the team, and with people wanting to have TW as a point forward and with Smart's stupid decision to move Evans to SF we don't really have a base reading going forward. All we have are players out of position. Seems much easier to just get players who specialize in certain positions and go from there.

The truth of the matter is that we have the players we have and its the coaches job to make them work. Its not his job to go out and find different players unless he is also the GM or the GM wants input. The Coach takes what he has and melds them together as best he can or he takes what he has throws his hands up and says I can't make it work right and we lose... Its ok if things don't fit perfect in a standard system we can just blow this season and wait for the next and that 1 draft pick and horrible GM moves will make everything right.... every year.

Instead you take what you have and you make it work.

Edit
I wasn't pointing at the divorce rate but bringing that into it is exactly my point. If a marriage doesn't fit perfectly do people talk and work together to make it work? Nope these days we throw up our hands divorce and rush out to find the next perfect fit when there are no perfect fits out there are only people willing to work to make a close to perfect fit. There is no single player we can bring in and suddenly all our problems are fixed. What we have to have is a majority to all our players working together to make the team better over their own stats and a coach to point them in the correct direction and make them believe. We would rather just underachieve for the draft picks I guess.

I highly doubt Keith Smart was actively trying to underachieve. He just was too blissfully ignorant to see that what he was doing wasn't working.
