T-mac left the game at half time to see second child being born. That is so nice of t-mac he is a great father and husband. But the rockets lost, he had 21 points, 5 dimes and where beating the jazz. Just think about it he could have had 40 or 50 points if he had stayed, but if u he to choose your son being born or a playing a basketball game, which would u choose. Of coures your son being born wins, there will be many more basketball games but seeing your son being born is a once in a life time exp(of course if he didn't choose his son i bet his wife would want his head:p ). But anyway Great Choose by T-MAC:) .

Gives the Jazz more confidence after coming back and shocking the Grizz in an OT win.

I'd choose going to see my child being born, for sure.

Should have had her wheeled out to deliver the baby courtside so that TMac could play it out AND get to see his child born. :D

Good for TMac but the rockets are real screwed. They lose another one and almost all of their players are injured and not returning soon.

that would be really interesting. he could be yelling "breathe" while running up and down the court. or dunk and then run to cut the cord

Maybe I am just different, but I do not see what another 1 hour would have hurt for him to play until the end and then leave. If the birth was that close, why not sit the game out. I know that at a regular job, we would leave. But at a regular job, we don't have 11 other guys depending on us for our livelihood either.

Help me with this, am I wrong for feeling that?

What about his being there to just support his wife pre-delivery? Labor can be a hard, long, painful process for the mother, and sometimes they need all the support they can get.

No not really. I agree to tell you the truth.

I do understand that, really I do but considering a basketball game is 2.5 hours, I am sure that before the game either she was already in labor or by halftime she had just started labor. Now I have not ever given birth to a child before, but I know that the odds of the baby being born during one of T-Mac's patent pull up three's on a dime with 5:50 left in the third quarter, if labor began at halftime is remote at best.:o

OK enough with the pre-game delivery commentary:D . Good for T-Mac and crew, handle your business dog!!!

Congrats 2 the family but in my opinion I don't think he should have gone to the game in the first place instead of playing one half and then leaving..I dunno it just sounds better when said " T-Mac misses game due to birth of child" instead of "T-Mac plays one half and leaves due to birth of child" :)

Just thought I would interject this into the conversation.....they are not married and this is their second child together. I believe she is now considered his fiancee' and they are getting Married soon. Not that this makes any difference.

Sounds like typical NBA/pro sports to me! Oh wait, typical would mean having multiple out-of-wedlock kids with multiple mothers. ;)

Here is How the Story Played Out

Rockets Summary

New addition

Thrilled as he was, Tracy McGrady had a talk with the newest member of the family. McGrady left the Rockets loss to the Jazz at halftime on Tuesday to be with his fiancée Clerenda Harris when she delivered their second child, Laymen Lamar.

His son was born about a half hour after McGrady arrived at the hospital.
"I had a little talk with my little man last night. I told him it was bad timing," McGrady said. "I was rolling in the first half, we were winning.:D We're finally winning at halftime and I got the call. I never hesitated. I had to go. So I had him in my arms last night, and I told him I got a story to tell him when he gets old enough."
McGrady did not expect to fly with the team to Oklahoma City on Tuesday, but he made the 11:30 p.m. departure.
"She had him really quick," he said. "The first one ( Layla), I was at practice. I left practice and I was there forever."

Purple Reign - "OK, I have to admit, that Tracy did the right thing:o . Congrads to the McGrady family.

It's not that you were "wrong" by any means, so don't feel bad. For the most part the first time going into labor is very very long. It gets shorter the more kids you have.

My daughter Ja'liza = 12 hours
My son Ja'kye = 3 hours
