You'd think in 20 years you might be able to invent at least ONE different schtick. Or at least break your complete dependence on the roughly half a dozen actors in thw whole world who apprently share your drab colorwashed little vision. :D

Ultimately agree with your argument, but tend to give a free pass when the end result is actually good.

Yes, Tim Burton has made the same movie repeatedly. And, yes, Johnny Depp has played the same part over and over (both with and without Burton). But all of those times have been incalculably better than about 79% of other films released in a given year, so I can live with it.

To be fair Burton HAS steped out of his comfort zone a few times with mied results. Big Fish was a nice little pice of work that lost the studio plenty, while Planet of the Apes was just a pice. I can't blame him for going back o a formula that works but I also don't expect much either.
