Superhero Draft - team write-ups and post-draft rankings to be done

Interesting pick. Probably the best one-liners of anyone chosen so far.

Took my by surprise, though. While watching a DVD this morning, I managed to convince myself that I'd figured out your last hero and it definitely wasn't Duke.

As mentioned I had a number of good choices, including several that I consider such no brainers I'm surprised nobody has taken them yet.

Well I needed some kind of espionage character to gain information.. here ya Go

SAM FISHER

sam_fisher.jpg

Sam Fisher is a veteran of the CIA Directorate of Operations, of the U.S. Navy SEAL Team 3, and of the Naval Special Warfare Development Group. He is 5'11" tall, weighs 185 pounds, (84 kg) and has green eyes. His birth and birthplace are both classified. He was an operative of Third Echelon, a clandestine division of the National Security Agency, up to the conclusion of Splinter Cell Double Agent. Fisher is extremely agile and an expert in the art of stealth. Fisher was the first person to be recruited as a field operative of the "Splinter Cell" program for Third Echelon. He prefers to work alone in the field. Fisher resides in Towson, Maryland, when not on the job. Fisher is a student of the Israeli military hand-to-hand combat system of Krav Maga.

Sam Fisher is extremely athletic. He is capable of many different climbing and scaling abilities, such as step-jumping to climb raised walls, performing a split leg maneuver to keep himself supported for a long period of time, as well as being able to hold on tightly to ceiling pipes or even the undercarriage of a moving train. He is also strong enough to lift the body of a full grown man onto his back and carry it around, and can run somewhat faster than the average soldier. He utilizes some aspects of the French gymnastic art of parkour while surmounting obstacles, albeit in a slightly slower and stealthier way. As the nature of Fisher's job relies on stealth and non-detection, he is highly adept at blending into shadows and moving silently. He is able to sneak up on most opponents undetected and quickly subdue them using either lethal or non-lethal means.

Fisher possesses a command of a startling number of foreign languages and scripts including Russian, Korean, Arabic, Chinese, Persian and Spanish. This is stated and demonstrated explicitly in the books and is evidenced in the games by Fisher's ability to interrogate guards and understand conversations between guards, regardless of the country he is operating
in.

Sam is "so adept at being a spy that his senses have been honed to an almost superhuman level"

hmm...no pm.. but that makes it my turn!

Kahlan is a beautiful woman with green eyes (although they are blue in the TV series); long, brown hair; and typically wears a white dress when acting as the Mother Confessor. Her brown hair brushes her lower back, the length of which is a symbol of her authority and position as the Mother Confessor. (although apparently this was the best actress they could come up with..i think they could have done better)

Since I took Richard, and I need to round out my island, I’m taking the heroine of the series as well. KAHLAN AMNELL

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kahlan_Amnell

Kahlan is a creature of magic known as a Confessor. A Confessor has the ability to 'touch' a person with her power. Once 'touched', that person is no longer who they used to be, but now eternally devoted to the Confessor. The purpose of which is to take the voluntary confession of those who have been sentenced to death, so that all may know their innocence. As does every Confessor, she needs time to regain enough strength to use her ability again. However unlike most Confessors, she only needs a couple of hours to do so. The leader of the Confessors is Kahlan Amnell, the Mother Confessor, however, there are few Confessors left. Kahlan is not only in charge of the Confessors, but also of the Midlands as well. Kahlan speaks every major language in the Midlands and most of the minor ones. She is strong and quick, rarely does anyone need to slow on her account while traveling. She also has a gift for knowing and reading people and realizing why they do what they do even if the person himself does not know why. She is courageous and determined, full of intelligence and wit.
Due to the way the power of Confessors works, people touched by Kahlan are able to perform far beyond their normal strength or human limits; they may even fall dead instantly at her request. While this would not be so for a weaker Confessor, even the slightest application of any Confessor's power permanently obliterates the free will of a victim and replaces it with love and subservience. A Confessor's power latches onto the love inside the person and expands it until it entirely consumes their being. Richard is immune to the touch of Kahlan due to his seamless love for her. Kahlan is also able to invoke an ability called the Con Dar. The Con Dar enhances a Confessor's power by decreasing recovery time to zero and also gaining ranged use of their ability, as opposed to 'touching' a person. However, the Con Dar may only be invoked by a Confessor to protect the one she loves most. Normally this ability is taught from the mother to the daugher, but Kahlan's mother never had a chance to pass this knowledge down due to her death early in Kahlan's life. However, when she believed that her love Richard had been murdered, she invoked the Con Dar, literally meaning "blood rage," intuitively. This is likely due to her innate strength with her power and her incredibly strong will. Throughout the series she also invokes a weaker, temporary version of the Con Dar that allows her to hurl blue lighting bolts in defense of Richard.

Brick, if anyone were to take my pick, it would have been you. I feel much better about things now.

Rankings Heads Up

Just a reminder. Since we're in the last round, I will need to get rankings from everyone 1 - 15 of hero teams (Send by PM please). Do not include your own team in your rankings. Use the rules at the beginning of the thread, along with your own views of team style, "fun-ness", cohesiveness, effectiveness against your enemies (the villains), and personality to qualify your rankings. Please wait for all picks to be made before submitting your rankings. Thanx:).

Isn't there going to be some kind of team summation post after the individuals are drafted? Your instructions mention team name and hierarchy and whatnot.

That is optional, but highly recommended as it will effect how others view your superteam. I figured team name wasn't too important as to warrant a 7th round like in the rock band draft, but people should (read MUST) submit their team write-ups within 5 days of the final pick. Ideally then, the playoffs would begin 7 days from the final pick. I will hyperlink the team writeup pages to the team rosters and make them quickly accessible for the playoffs:).

"Team leaders and hierarchy are recommended but not required. The same applies with team name. Forum member interaction and fun are encouraged:)."

now you require it? ;)

they are still optional, just recommended:)...I put the (read must) part in to keep this draft moving without a large pause before the playoffs.

Should we just reply to this thread with our write ups or put them in our first pick or what?
Write-ups can be submitted in this thread at any time after the final pick is made, preferably before the playoffs begin (within 5 days of the final pick is ideal:)).

After A HUGE mental debate, I decided ultimately on function over form. I really wanted to take Iceman here, who is my third favorite X-man behind Deadpool and Nightcrawler, but every team needs a strategist, and after seeing the new Star Trek as well as thinking about it for about a week now

My Pick:
Lt. Commander Spock
The_New_Spock_by_karracaz.jpg

I need a senior officer to point out logical solutions, something as leader I may not be capable of. He can also be my personal bodyguard, with his Vulcan death pinch. OH! And even better, if he does die, you can bury him the surface of Planet Genesis and his cells will regenerate. So obviously, the logical choice here is Spock.

Live long. AND PROSPER!!!

This is the Isis not of myth, but of Earth-S (for Shazam) in DC Comics, which in the 70’s and 80’s was the home of Captain Marvel and his supporting characters. Although, this picture is actually from a slightly different recent revamp of the character.

Isis

Andrea Thomas was a mild-mannered and extremely hot high school science teacher, who upon finding a magical amulet, was given the power to transform into Isis.

Isis has various superpowered attributes assigned to her by the Egyptian Gods in a manner similar to the pantheon of the Captain Marvel family. She has the power of flight and superhuman strength, durability, speed, stamina, and wisdom.

Isis also has the ability to control the elements and all the various aspects of nature. For example, she can control the weather, increase or decrease the force of gravity, create vegetation, control the currents and waves of the ocean, cause geysers of molten lava to rise from the ground, or control animals and plant life. She is empathically connected to nature, allowing her to sense changes in the atmosphere or share the perceptions of wildlife.

Other various abilities include healing powers, telekinesis, and remote viewing.

There was also a live action TV series based on the character, whose star was one of my earliest television crushes:

And totally unnecessary pics of her sexy schoolteacher secret identity:

Lara Croft

Yum yum yum.:D

Definitely the hottest and most badass woman in video games. She has it all, she is hot, intelligent, athletic, and somewhat reckless (in a good way). She has beaten rival gangsters, dangerous animals (including dinosaurs), legendary creatures, and supernatural beings. She can whoop anyone with her weapons and isn't afraid to get dirty.

Once those baddies see Lara Croft they will just be sitting there with their mouths watering until Lara and the rest of my crew destroy them.

I also need a woman on my island for...you know.. my pleasures. Lara Croft is the perfect woman for that. One more thing, Angelina Jolie played her, man there's no way I don't win. :p

FINALLY!

She has no superpowers to speak of, and hence I chose Selene over her, but as I saw all these other video game characters going I was trying to figure out how the most famous video game sex symbol of them all was being passed over time and again.

Does being super hot count as a superpower?:p

Not sure. ;)

She was in the scrum for me these last couple of picks -- if I had not taken Selene, then I think I would have taken her, but I was afraid of duplication if I took both. On the other hand as i would then hands down have had the best looking group of sueprheroes in the draft, maybe their deficiencies in other areas would have been overlooked.

I also have another super hot hero, The Thing!:p

Not surprisingly, Lady Croft was on my radar the whole time. Decided against her because a) I couldn't even try to write a convincing synopsis for her hero qualities and b) the Angie connection would have made it a repeat of last summer's Hot Babe Draft and I'm trying not to pick the same person/thing more than once.
