Suffering from Joe's Crab Shack Syndrome?

On the side of Joe's Crab Shack in Sacramento, there is a sign that says, "Free Crab Tomorrow"... Get it, the free crab is always tomorrow, never today. The reader is in a constant state of anticipation of great things that will never come.

I feel this way about the TDOS. Every thread is about a potential 20 team blockbuster and they are all going to happen tonight or tomorrow, but they never happen! It is driving me nuts.

My question, is anyone else suffering from Joe's Crab Shack Syndrome? BTW, you could also call this "Waiting for Godot" syndrome... you know, constant anticipation of Godot, but Godot never shows up.

I'm anticipating.... someday... maybe tomorrow.... we'll get KG, Shaq and D. Wade. Golly, I might even lose sleep over this! ;)

We spend way too much time in life worrying and anticipating, and > 90% of it never comes to pass.

Yeah, I've been over here so many times looking to read about the big deal. Ever since the Heat won, I've been looking to see what is happening with the Kings offseason player movement or non movement.

Well at least we have to look forward to crab tomorrow. Seriously, did you see that sign or what this some sort of metafor? I really want some crab, otherwise I'll be to crabby over here waiting for the big trade that may or may not happen. :D

What's taking so long w/ the Bonzi situation? Anyone think if Peja wasn't given that baloon of a contract from NO that Bonzi would have already accepted? I think so...its probably a slap in the face to Bonzi that Peja is given double the amount he's been offered for standing on the 3pt. line while he's the one in the paint fighting for every rock. Thanks NO.

Oh, no. You're aren't going to take umbrage at Peja's contract on Bonzi's behest are you???????

Back to the topic at hand.

I wonder if they'll be serving salad and garlic bread with the crab.

It is a real sign painted on the sign of Joe's Crab Shack in Old-Town Sacramento.

Hm, having tried the crab shack a few times, I'd say I don't care much for it.

Overpriced mediocre food and service seems to be only so-so.

I know you're not talking about the shack, just using it as an example, but honestly, I don't get why people seem to love it so.

I think it is these four factors: 1) Culture (fun), 2)Location (waterfront/old town), 3)Dancing wait staff (free entertainment), 4)Menu (people like crab quite a bit...)

I agree. It should be called "Red Lobster's TGIF Crab Shack". Bad food, cheesy service, low value.

But back to basketball. I was sure Peja had played himself out of a lucrative contract this year, but I guess one should never underestimate the value of a good agent.

Yeah, totally agree. I was shocked to see him get such a good deal.

He certainly didn't earn it.

You know, all of these great moves and crazy trades amongst other teams and NOT the Kings is making my JCS Syndrome worse. I have even got to the point of thinking of a clever short-name for Joe's Crab Shack Syndrome... here we go:
JCS Syndrome
JCrabS Syndrome
JCShack Syndrome
JCSS

And other ideas?

Dood I so want to eat there. Hmmm may be a good place to take the wife tomorrow to score some points!
Well, go in with low expectations and maybe you won't be as disappointed.

Their food truly sucks and is expensive to boot. Even the crab is sub par compared to most other seafood joints in Sacramento.

Hey Wert, what would you rate it compared to Red Lobster? Which I consider on the low end of the scale but still tasty

Wert?

Just an honest question for you, if you don't mind?

Do you ever have anything positive to say about anything?

Another week/weekend gone by and still nothing!!! I am going nuts! I have the JCS Syndrome something awful! When is something going to happen? AAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What seafood joints? Do tell. :D

What else is there in Sac (seafood) besides the Monterey Fish Co?

Of course, if it isn't fish-n-chips I don't eat fish anyways, so what do I care? :)

Montery Fish seems to have been declining in "niceness" over the past few years... the last time I was there, even the fish tacos were sub par...

Regardless... I woke up this morning hoping some progress would be made on the Bonzi deal since yesterday... but no... I am just going nuts here...

I'm not a huge fan of the Red Lobster, but I'd take it over the Crab Shack any time. I think many of the "on the river" restaurants like the Crab Shack coast on ambiance/location rather than good service/value.

I know some folks love restaurants with dancing/singing food servers, but I'm not one of them. I mean, let's face it. If they're busy dancing, that cuts into their time to actually take the order, serve the food, refill the drinks, etc. Which could be one factor in the terribly slow (near nonexistent) service I've had the times I was dragged there.

I'd recommend Scott's Seafood Grill & Bar (spotty service, but really great tasting food at a decent price) or if one likes Mexican food, many of the smaller places (even some of the "hole in the wall" types) around town do a great job with seafood in general. A real favorite of mine is "La Favorita" which gives great service/food at an exceptionally low price. If you go for asian seafood, I'd suggest giving Ocean King a go. Not in a great area of town, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do... :)

Mortons has extremely tasty (and huge!) giant prawns if you're willing to pay the price for them. (Their "lava cake" dessert is yummy too) Lobster there is pretty ok (but that price!, youch!), but not quite as tasty as what Scott's Seafood offers.

Okay, the arena talks have helped with the JCS Syndrome, but WHEN AND WHERE WILL BONZI LAND? Just a note: still going nuts.

Places with better seafood than Joe's room tempurature/no flavor/expensive Crab Shack: (just to name a few) Rusty Duck, Scotts, any Sushi joint, Virgin Sturgeon (right on the river off Garden State Hwy), and yes: Red Lobster. Honestly, I'd rather get a salmon filet at TGIF than eat there.

Agree with you about Monterey. The last time I went there two years ago, we were really disappointed in the food. It had been so good in previous times. And now the one that was the closest to me has been turned into a Hooter's. Is there really any decent seafood restaurants in Sacto? And I don't mean the really expensive ones.
