Someone else's take on Fredette, Rubio

Actually, considering that I'm not American, you're wrong to correct me. In your childish, petty and ultimately failed attempt to be witty, you have, in fact, shown yourself to exactly what you're purported to be - patronising. I'd wager you're not the sharpest tool in the box, and certainly not near as intelligent as you'd like to believe.

Personal attacks are definitely more mature than correcting someone's bad spelling. Agreed.

Ok, really? While ok, valid point, when did it turn to that every reply by someone is generally one being a nit-picking snob? Jesus.

I'm starting to get why there are always so many people viewing this forum but not as many ever signed in. It's ridiculous.

But okay. "Worst in terms of being a disappointment." I wasn't going to call that the best. And since the link was staring you in the face I figured you could draw the line from A to B.

I guess amare stoudemire is the worst player in the league since he's having the most disappointing season.

Headline from "Bruce Jenkins NBA column today, Jan. 23 (SF Chronicle)
Rubio is passing his aura exams as Fredette flails"
Rubio: " He's 21 now, but Rubio can't really be called a rookie - or anything else that isn't highly complimentary. His fancy passing displays have become the talk of the league."

Fredette: "He's really a heck of a guy, Jimmer. Aims to please. But he's stuck between roles in the wilds of Sacramento, a city deeply concerned about losing the franchise. Someday, probably in a different uniform, he'll be a solid shooting guard in a responsible half-court offense - perhaps along the lines of Orlando's J.J. Redick. At the moment he's dealing with me-first teammates, the transition from point guard (his position a BYU) and a new head coach, Keith Smart, who is trying to resurrect the magic."

There's more but that's the gist of it. Always interesting to see where folks are coming from.

Didn't read the entire article because there is no link and I'm not interested in tracking it down. However, from the quote above, it seems like Jenkins is making excuses for why Jimmer is struggling. Hitting an open jumper has nothing to do with teammates, playing pg or coaches. The one thing Jimmer was supposed to be able to do is hit an open shot. Now, I for one think that it will start happening soon, so I'm not concerned about that. What I'm concerned about is that my fears are becoming reality. I had the fear that if he wasn't scoring in bunches on any given night, that he couldn't do enough to help the team in other areas. That's true up to this point. Unfortunately for Jimmer, there was such a bright spotlight on him that there is nowhere to hide and work on your game while he's struggling.

As far as the comparison to Rubio, I took it as two young players with high expectations as saviors to a franchise coming into the league the same year. One is fulfilling his role as a passer, distributor, playmaker. The other is not fulfilling his as a lights out scorer. No excuses about Jimmer having to learn to be a point guard, because everyone assured us that Jimmer could play point and essentially did it in college.

They also tend to be much less informed, and thus lazy. Your views would tend to fit in with this, as you're not a Kings fan, but a Jimmer fan. The patronising isn't going to help your reputation on this forum either.

I also agree whole-heartedly with this. I don't rely on any outside viewpoints on the Kings team because invariably they are going to be wrong on some point due solely to the fact that they don't care enough to watch every single game or follow as closely as I do what's going on with the team.

I give more credence to Amick just because he was the King's beat writer and seems to have better inside track with what's going on with the Kings and their players than the Bee writers at times, but even he can be removed at times.

Having League Pass I'm forced to listen to drivel by completely uninformed broadcasters who have no idea what they are talking about. When my wife catches a game she is constantly asking me "Is that true?" when the other team's announcers say something incorrect, and I'm constantly having to tell her to just ignore them.

To make an easy point the Houston announcers all game long were talking about how IT was the son of the famous Piston's guard....*wince*
That's just being lazy, though Clyde isn't great even when he has his facts straight.

And to say that non-Kings fans are inherently non-Biased is an absurd claim.
A fun one to toss out is in the last game against Portland.
The Portland announcers were just awful and I had to eventually mute them. But here was one of their 'un-biased' gems.

They said that Cousins is a fantastic offensive rebounder, but a poor defensiver rebounder. They then said the reason that he's a poor defensiver rebounder is because there are not any points to be scored off a defensive rebound and basically saying that he's not willing to work hard unless he can score himself some points.

Of course if Cousins were on their team he'd lead their team in defensive rebounding and he has more defensive rebounds a game than offensive rebounds, so it makes thier comments more like vitrol and trashing a player than anything else.

Their broadcast was full of the stuff and hey it's their 'opinion', but it's factually incorrect data that they are using to justify their position that he's selfish. And if you're a Portland fan who doesn't follow the Kings, then you're going to believe them, and it's junk like that which can follow a player around.

Just because it's an outsider's point of view doesn't mean that it's not going to be biased. If you have a writer who's been saying all along that Cousins will never make it in the league because he's a cancer, then you're going to see that writer continue to focus on anything that justifies that original point of view while diminishing anything that might contradict that point of view.

So I'll continue to trust my eyes and judgement when watching the Kings to form my own opinions rather than trying to find outside sources to 'confirm' my thoughts on a matter.

I don't know what the agenda is of an outside sports writer or blogger, but I know my agenda pretty clearly. I want all of the players for the Kings to succeed so that the team will be successful. I will be rooting for them to grow their games and minimize mistakes.

What bad spelling was that, troll? No one has attacked you personally. People assess your posts and come up with their own conclusions. You can't blame others if you don't come across as an intelligent poster, it's entirely your own fault for coming out with the junk that you do.

I knew it, knew it that he didn't understand that your spelling was perfect. He apparently doesn't get out often and simply has no sense of humour.

Every thread sidetracked to end up a discussion of Italics is a thrill for him. I suspect somewhere in the recesses of his mind it is some kind of victory. His knowledge of basketball is weak which is OK, but he craves attention and we stupidly over and over again give it to him. His purpose is served by drawing attention to himself. Now he can either be officially banned for being so disruptive but it is difficult to nail him down as to what he is doing wrong. The appearance is that people who respond to him are just as wrong. It is easier to ignore him when you feel the urge to commment about him directly. When you sense that urge, don't type.

In short, talk baskeball and not Italics.

It seems so darn hard for everybody to stay clear of the verbal jousting but the problem is, as soon as the jousting starts, he wins. The longer the jousting lasts, the better he feels. He is playing us but I doubt it is a conscious thing. I wouldn't give him that much credit.

I really want this type of thing over or maybe I am just being selfish in wanting to talk basketball. There is a lot I don't know and there is a lot I want to learn.

Good post Glenn, better to ignore him than to indulge in silly games.

I'm rainmaker, and I approve this message.

DimeDropper, why are you still up? Tonight's one of those rare nights you can actually get to bed at a decent hour.

Ah, my friend, the Kings have permanently screwed up my sleeping schedule, so even on off nights I find myself unable to sleep until all hours of the night. I'm pretty much nocturnal. Which no help college me with. :p
