Somebody tell Cousins he is not a point guard!!!!

I agree, he is improving. Not dribbling the ball up the court is an easy fix that can happen quickly as long as the coach demands it. Maybe Malone doesn't care therefore it hasn't changed.

I think the far more likely interpretation is that Malone has much bigger issues to deal with right now. He wants a team that plays with good energy, good body language, has a "next possession" mentality instead of dwelling and who execute his defensive scheme to the best of their abilities. Not to mention the poor teamwide shooting. Hard to win games when your team shoots 42% from the field and your opponents shoot 46%.

The coach of a rebuilding team can't harp on every little thing that is going wrong when there's so much work to do. Otherwise it just seems like a constant stream of criticism when these guys need to be uplifted and motivated. Tackle the big issues first, live with the small ones for the time being.

Malone has already helped Cousins cut down on his gambling for steals (a much worse habit than his occasional attempts to go coast-to-coast) and has got him to do his best to anchor the defense despite not being the typical defensive center.

Cousins has made bigger strides than any other player on the roster and is the only guy playing at an All-Star level. If Cousins' attempts to handle the ball start consistently leading to turnovers, especially at the end of games I think you'll see Malone address it with him. But for right now I think he's letting it slide as a minor issue compared to everything positive that DMC brings to the table.

I don't care either, frankly. I enjoy it.

I say this almost every game, however, he is the best damn player the Kings have had in a long time. I say give him some slack, especially when he played with a dislocated shoulder.

So is that the official word? Cousins dislocated his shoulder or is that a guess on your part?

It's official. Cousins has a shoulder that pops in and out which isn't terribly unusual. It hurts but how much will be seen this evening when we see if Cousins plays or not. I suspect he'll play but that's obviously just a guess.

It was widely discussed by virtually everyone in the game thread last night. Why would you assume that Rockmeister is guessing?

Firstly, why does it matter?

Secondly, why would you say I'm assuming he is guessing? It was simply a question whether he heard something or not. Not everyone gets to follow along with the game threads every game. I didn't hear any report on television that he dislocated his shoulder nor have I seen anything online about it. I'm sorry for being interested in our franchise center's well being. I'll be more careful next time. :p

Rockmeister is a SHE. For the dislocated shoulder, go to the sacramento bee.

The tone of your post came across as rather dismissive of her comment, as though because you hadn't heard about it, it was more likely a guess on her part than fact. Considering how widespread the discussion of the shoulder dislocation has been, it's pretty difficult to believe you hadn't heard anything or seen anything online. If you merely Google "cousins dislocated shoulder," a plethora of links immediately appears.

Ahhh we're trying to decipher tones over the web. That's never a good idea.

I watched the game live and didn't see a report. I might have missed it if there was one though. I searched the hoopshype Kings rumors section this morning to see if there was any info on Cousins injury, but unfortunately, hoopshype failed me again!

Succeeding at it 1 out of every 5 times is still not a good idea guys. Just don't do it if you don't have to Boogie. One of Cousins problems is he has so much to do that he does things not needed to be done when a simpler solution works better. He's improved a lot in that regard in the post, but those coast-to-coast plays and long jumpers are a part of the issue with having all the tools.

Someone, somewhere, has to have actual stats on this. Tonight for example, every time Cousins brought it up court something positive happened.

Weren't the Kings trying to hire something wacky like 'Basketball Wizard Stat Scientist'? Where's THAT guy?

I need vindication.

Funny story. A friend of mine from Sacramento who grew up a Kings fans was just hired by another western conference team to be their that guy

I like seeing him push that ball sometimes. Just not at the end of a game and not when we need to get the ball to one of our best free throw shooters
