So which wingman packs his bag first?

We just drafted a couple of guards.
Well we already got a lot here.

Does this mean we won't pick up IT's team option?
Are we shipping Jimmer, Thornton, or Reke?
Is Toney D leaving? We haven't announced a qualifying offer for him, AFAIK.

Looking deeper into this, Reke is a restricted FA.
Toney D, no qualifying offer yet.
IT is a team option.

Seems like we actually only have 3 guards with guaranteed contracts.
That's McLemore(he'll be signed for sure), Jimmer, and MT.

The rest of the contracts are still up in the air right now.

So looks like we're gonna give DMC that max pretty soon.
We check the market for Reke and if it's too expensive we move forward by surrounding DMC with shooters(McLemore, MT, Jimmer, and McCallum are known for their offense).

Other way around is to match all offers for Reke. Then ship maybe a couple of wings.
So let the trade proposal begin.

Jeff Green would look pretty good in a Kings uniform. With the Celtic's fire sale today, could he be available for a guard combination there-of? Small forward remains a festering hole for the Sacramento Kings, with free agents most likely costing above value to relocate. If Tyreke Evans is not retained, McLemore could fill the athleticism void, but who plays the 3?

I envision Thornton being shipped out for something. Maybe 2 somethings. not sure maybe SF and project big.

Not that I'm necessarily advocating this, but would it be possible to do a sign and trade with Tyreke?

I recall PDA's vision to have the fastest team in the NBA.
These recent moves is most likely the initial steps to that.
In order to employ the fastest basketball, they probably think that changing of guards is necessary coz that's where the ball rotation starts.

Probably they feel that fresh minds at the back court could accept the concept faster than players that have already been to a lot of systems.
For front office in their first season, I think this revamp is larger that expected. Good signs actually, for me.

I wonder if we couldn't work something out with the Nuggets, especially given PDA's familiarity with the team. They have Galinari and Chandler who are both good SFs that could fill a need.

There is no way that Houston is going to give up Chandler, or Denver is going to give up Gallinari. Those are part of their building blocks. The very fact that we might lust after them, is the very reason they won't trade them.

My first impression of drafting McLemore, is that Tyreke's days are numbered. They only have a couple of choices. They move Tyreke back to PG, and thats a possibility, or they decide that they Keep Tyreke at SG and let McLemore come off the bench. But that would mean that they would have to commit to resigning Tyreke to a new contract. So what would happen when McLemore blossoms into a very good player and is ready to start. That doesn't make sense to me. So its either Tyreke back to PG, or, Bye Bye Tyreke. In my opinion.

I imagine Cousins wouldn't be too happy with the talent bleed if they let Tyreke walk. Doesn't exactly send the message we want to surround you with lots of talent and build a winner.

You left out Evans at SF. Ask yourself who is the best SF currently on the team.

My first reaction to the McLemore pick was "THANK GOD, REKE IS GOING BACK TO PG".

So i'd suggest shipping out Thornton. I still think, for the right price, Boston is a good fit for him.

When the question comes up, and new FO reveals it's inner Smartness, they'll get a fit from Tellem, and will either have to let Evans go or risk the same agent uprising that previous regime had a chance to experience.

Hey, he is still the best SF we have :p

My impression was that they planned on moving Tyreke back to PG. While I have reservations about McLemore' lack of aggression on offense and his ball handling, these also make him the perfect player next to Tyreke. He should be able to immediately help spread the floor and help open up the middle for Tyreke and Cousins with his shooting ability. Now the Kings have to find a way to move some of their expendable pieces to get a SF who can shoot and play defense or find one in free agency.

Improving the SF position via trade/FA has to be the front offices biggest goal this offseason. The order of players might be something like this:

Tier 1: Iggy, Deng, or Granger (health issues a big concern).
Tier 2: Barnes, Allen, or Brewer.

AK is likely opting out according to reports.

WE need to give reke another go at PG. If he fails which I doubt he will then we can ship him off with Benny boy making sure we haven't taken a step back

I would also be ok with Korver. With him, BMC and Patterson you have plenty of shooters, and teams won't be able to pack the paint. Reke could be scary with this lineup.

Reguarding our guards, I believe Douglas, Jimmer and MT are gone, and maybe Thomas too.

I think only jimmer is an automatic trade at this point. Thornton is a keeper. I don't believe reke is going anywhere seeing our new coach is high on the "defensive" end.

Tyreke/ it
Thornton/ McLemore
Blah
Blah
Cousins

I think its our forwards that will be focused on first.

I think he was referring to Wilson Chandler, not Chandler Parsons.

I think we are not going to see a trade before Tyreke's situation is resolved. All the guards, no matter the quality, give a little bit of additional leverage.

I tend to agree and I genuinely hope that it's Tyreke back to the PG! I really think that Evans/McLemore could be a great backcourt going forward!

With the way that our hierarchy is lusting over McLemore, I am very nervous that Tyreke's days as a King are numbered!

Im pretty sure the Kings are going to atleast attempt to use a Tyreke/McLemore backcourt before they consider trading Tyreke. Im not so convinced that trading Evans is even in the plans at all. If PDA's vision is the fastest team in the NBA id say an Evans/McLemore backcourt is a good start. I tend to think that our current FO has noticed Tyrekes improvement and intends to keep him. These guys arent stupid.

Thornton and Jimmer are now trade bait. IT is now able to come off the bench and pair with either Reke or McLemore. From here i think we should go after Wilson Chandler and ANY mobile shotblocker that can guard PFs.

My speculation is that Tyreke's days are numbered. I'd say it's less than 50-50 that they go back to making him the primary pg. They've already said they see him as a 1, 2 and a 3 hybrid type of player, but I've never heard them saying he should be the point guard going forward. It's possible; I just don't think it's probable. I doubt that they resign him to play with McLemore at the 2; they got an excellent outside shooter at the 2 for a reason. So the Kings might not resign Tyreke, or they might do some kind of sign and trade, or they might sign him with the notion that they will then trade him over the next few months. If the Kings can use the capital of Tyreke, Salmons (amnesty), and Thornton, it would seem to me they should finally be able to get a legit 3, and maybe a weak-side shot blocker. That would round out their team and they would have parts that mesh.

Thornton is gone. Can't pay 8mil a year to a bench player. Start McLemore out of the gate and resign Reke and bring IT and Jimmer off the bench. Reke can move to sg or even sf when IT is in the game.

Thornton has to go so McLemore can wear #23. :p

Seriously, I wouldn't be surprised to see Thornton, IT and Jimmer available for the right price. I'd like to see them retain Toney Douglas for the simple reason he can at least spell "defense" as opposed to the others.

Agree, but move Fredette and Thornton first, then move to the bigger decisions.
