Yes, but I'm biased. I agree with you (other than the worst trade in NBA history part) in regards to what happened then and what is happening now. I'm looking forward to next season.I'm a little done revisiting the trade. There's a lot of posts from people who are happy he's gone and with where we are. I totally get it. I'm really enjoying the team right now, and the players we have and I'm definitely more interested than I was. That being said, I still think the way the trade was handled was terrible. It's impossible to know if we could have gotten more assets or not based on how it all went down (except you know... Vlade said we could have). I think a guy who was very loyal to the team, and loved the city and the people in the city got treated extremely poorly.
I hated the trade at the time, for how it was handled in a vacuum, and for how Boogie was treated. I'm happy with where the Kings are now. I hope Boogie has a pile of success forever in his career. Isn't there perhaps room in the debate to acknowledge we're happy with where we are and with how things have gone since the trade, but still acknowledge that the trade was executed in a very unprofessional manner?
(Full Disclosure: at the time I said it was arguably the worst trade in NBA history.)

It got us. Buddy heild, justin Jackson, harry Giles, Roger mason, and can you add whomever we get with the cap space? Especially if it's a max?
You have to include Fox. We don't trade him, we finish 11-14th most likely and have zero picks this year. (maybe we have a late 2nd, I can't remember).
That's what I was gonna say... Fox was definitely not in Sacramento without the trade. You have to include Fox. We don't trade him, we finish 11-14th most likely and have zero picks this year. (maybe we have a late 2nd, I can't remember).
We'd have the pick that the Bulls sold to the Warriors for Jordan Bell. So basically we'd have none of the guys we got in the first round and probably one of Mason or Bell (or similar). You have to include Fox. We don't trade him, we finish 11-14th most likely and have zero picks this year. (maybe we have a late 2nd, I can't remember).

True but I think that would have allowed Vlade to packaged 2018 1st, Richardson, and WCS for Paul George.
I was shocked by the Cousins trade. Boogie was incredible to watch play. The Kings had little success during the years DMC was here so I eventually understood the need for the trade. Now the Kings have young players with upside at every position. I have highlighted the players I consider a net result of the Cousins trade:
PG Fox, Mason
SG Buddy, Bogdan, Malachi
SF Jackson
PF Skal, Giles
C WCS, Bam Bam
To really judge any deal you have to take into account all the net results. not just the direct ones. So I think it is fair to include the Kings own pick that became Fox and all the players that are signed with that Max Money Boogie would have received. If a younger Veteran is signed who is with the Kings long term these net results become pretty amazing. The trade becomes one that will need to be judged a little differently than we have seen so far.
There are two Veterans on the Kings, Temple and Koufos. Both are good players with good locker room presence. The Kings have the most cap space in the NBA and no bad contracts!!!
As much as I loved to watch Boogie play I must admit I do not miss the on court tantrums. The Players appeared to get along great post trade and played pretty well all things considered.
Vlade and company have done a great job setting the stage for the rebuild.
I was advocating for a Cousins trade only because I didn't see a path forward with him due to previous screw ups but the Kings FO. But I was very underwhelmed by the return for him.
That said I think the Kings are poised to be a better team in a couple seasons than if they'd given Cousins a $200+ million super max deal and kept trying to build around him withmid to late lottery picks and FA signings.
And there have been a number of players talking about how good the chemistry/locker room were at the end of the season. And a LOT more top prospects working out for the Kings this draft season.
I'm sure part of that is Perry and part of that is seeing a true rebuild with opportunities for young players. But I have to imagine a big part of it is Cousins not being here.
I'll be very interested to see how New Orleans does this season. Partly to see how the two teams fare comparatively after what some in the media called the "worst trade in NBA history" but mostly because I'll always root for Boogie.
But now it's a bit different. The only way I can explain it is that it's the difference (for me) of being an uncle vs being a father. When I'd go and see my brother's family or my sister's family I'd visit and play with my nieces and nephews. I love them but it was nice that when they got spoiled out or threw tantrums I could always say my goodbyes and head home. But with my own kids, when they lose it (and thankfully it's pretty rare that they do) Im stuck. I have to ride it out, do my best to resolve things, apologize for them etc.
Cousins is now like a nephew.
It would help if the Pelicans weren't also very very bad at building a team.
I thought about that after I finally calmed down from being frustrated by the trade.
I wished Boogie had at least gone to a better team. But I think New Orleans being badly managed is part of why Cousins ended up there. After all, Ainge could have put together a far better package for DeMarcus. But the Celtics apparently had no interest at all.
In fact I didn't hear of one well run team that made a bid for Boogie. The Pelicans and the Magic? Their front offices have been terrible for a while, to the point that Orlando finally cleaned house. Same thing with the Lakers though apparently Jeannie pushed her brother out for NOT dealing for DMC. She felt that in LA Boogie would have far less issues. Maybe she's right, but she's in the minority as a lot of teams seemingly didn't want Cousins regardless of the price.
Maybe it's not bad luck that DMC is on another poorly run team. Maybe only poorly run teams were willing to trade for him.

New Orleans is in a tough situation and I am not sure Dell is crafty enough to put enough talent around Cousins and Davis. They will have to re-sign Holiday at maximum money which leaves them veterans minimum salaries to fill out the roster.I was advocating for a Cousins trade only because I didn't see a path forward with him due to previous screw ups but the Kings FO. Cuz is going to The Wizards.
Don't forget the Suns too, who included the 4th pick, Warren & Len
Except it wouldn't have been the 4th pick.
Adding Boogie and removing the reason to tank means the Suns likely win a few more games down the stretch.
