Kings just announced they've waived Hassan Whiteside #NBAKings

Now our roster is more unbalanced than last year. Unbelievable. We really, really need to trade MT/IT for a big. This is ridiculous unless something is in the works.

Didn't even make it until the end of summer league? The way they were using, or ratehr not using, him was suspicious. But still, what's the point of that?

if they are waiving people due to their horrible summer league performances then Jimmer is next lol

now can we please trade Chuck Hayes for a real big man

at least Jimmer was trying, but is simply incapable of living up to many people's expectations
Hassan put in no effort to succeed

I'm happy Hassan got cut. Maybe the guy will learn some humility and not think that just because you have all the physical tools in the world, you get to slack.

Another failed development project by our organization. the only thing which changed with Hassan was added muscle. Looked like he actually regressed everywhere else. But, he could still give us 10-15mins a night, hopefully, and at least be some insurance down low.

Yet even more so than last year, if that's even possible, which apparently it is, we're stacked beyond belief in the backcourt with non-defensive, shoot first guards, and incredibly thin upfront. I would have thought TRob's non-defensive exploits would be enough to keep Hassan around. This better be clearing a roster spot for a move or we could actually end up worse than last year with more talent.

Get ready for IT/Brooks/Reke/Trob/Hayes at times. We might be going smaller.

Seems to be bizarre timing. I wonder if something else was going on behind the scenes with Whiteside...or his agent asked that he be released for a new opportunity. This is the problem with raw bigs, it takes three to four seasons to develop them, and then they're usually off...

I think Hassan's main problem was that he was dumber than a Maloof. I mean, I seriously had my doubts at times that the man was capable of tying his own shoes.

Not really bizarre. The 16th is the deadline to get them off your books.

Hassan was a guy where you looked at his physical numbers (height, weight, wingspan, reach, vertical) and his college numbers (blocks, rebounds) and got excited and then actually watched him play and got completely dejected.

Very possibly the lowest BB IQ of any player I've ever watched. 3 years in and not only has the light not turned on for him at all but it looks like there's not even a bulb in the socket.

I wish him the best, but I can't imagine he'll ever see any real minutes in the NBA. Such a shame.

On the other hand, waiving him and signing Brooks brings the average height of our team down an inch so I'm sure Smart is happy.

Kwame and Darko keep getting picked up, I know Hassan hasn't even reached those lofty heights yet but if you're 7 foot, someone will find a spot for you.....

That said I'm not sure i've seen a guy with such a sleepy demeanour.

Well, considering that the front office and ownership group seems to have no clue what they are doing, it actually makes perfect sense.

I do have to admit that I really endorsed and supported drafting Whiteside back when it happened. I saw him play a few times and new about his backstory. He was a pretty good wrestler that went on a unbelievable growth spurt (something like 6 foot to 6'11" in a fairly short period of time) thus didn't begin playing basketball until late in his youth. I really felt he might be a diamond in the rough that would blossom once he got his bearings and learned the game a bit. Unfortunately, he is far more raw than I thought. Oh well.

I wish Hassan all the best in life. I really do. I don't think that "all the best" includes being in the NBA, though.

I'm pretty jealous of what he got paid for not ever being able to do the job. After three years, how is it paossible to still look so completely lost? Too bad for everyone.

EDIT: If the deadline to waive him is today, then I don't know how anyone can blame the Kings for waiving a guy that has not progressed at all. Why would we want to waste any more money on him?

Good. He has shown no improvements in more than 2 years. He looked lost even in summer league games. This guy just does not deserve a spot on an NBA team. I'm not sure we will see him again in the league, he is a worse version of Thabeet.

team midget in full effect! but yeah this waiving was money related as well, i believe today was the deadline to pick up his option for the rest of the season.

Do I have to scream what I think is wrong????? I'll put it this way, it is unethical for a mental health professional to offer an opinion on someone they have not evaluated. Fill in the huge blank of what I think is wrong. ADD my ***. I wish him good health.

Wasn't his mental state one of the big concerns about his ability to play in the league? It was ADHD i believe, which might help explain why he's always seemed, at least to me, a bit disconnected from whatever game he was in.

Anyway, wish him the best.
