VF, for some reason, Petrie decided on Peja. For obvious reason, Petrie knows more than both of us combined. For some reason hes being pampered back into playing. Petrie already drew up Pejas ultimatum: "Come back when your ready and sure you are able to play up to your ability. That will determine what happens to you and your contract in the offseason". So again, Im not rushing this, he can come back when ready. I actually enjoy watching the Kings now without Webber or Peja, but yes, I know eventually we will need Peja in the line up. But I think we all live for the present, not the past or future. So bring on Corliss, Thomas, and Skinner today :)
I am not talking about Petrie. I didn't even mention his name. I was referring to your comments.

For the GOOD of the team, Peja MUST make a gesture soon that will heal the rift remaining. AND there is one. He cannot continue, for whatever reason, to keep himself out of the loop and apart from his teammates IF he expects to be a productive contributing member of this team.

I have watched him sitting there, chin in hands, as though he had no interest or stake in what was happening on the court. This has been the rule and not the exception as I have seen it repeatedly.

Peja needs to do something/anything to show he's going to step up and do the job he was kept here to do. And he needs to do it now.

Bee makes it sound like Peja won't play. Neither will Brad. And maybe not Darius. :)

Sheesh, we never catch a break do we?
Setting aside the Peja issue, because while I have real doubts about his toughness, the truth is only he knows how he's feeling, and a hammy can be a lingering injury...

Do you realize that if everybody sits out tonight who might sit out tonight, that the Sacramento Kings, or whoever these guys are, will have exactly ONE player on court off of last year's team (Bibby). ONE!

What a mess.

I would agree with you had you posted this if the game was against Miami or at the latest Detroit@Kings today. Thats 3 or 4 days in the future which puts that date March 4 or 6. The last game of the season is April 20. Exactly a month and hmmm 14 days not counting playoff games. I would sacrifice 3 or 4 days of no Peja rather than Peja's health (wether hes feigning one or not) than to rush him in. Hes got 1 1/2 months to play and get into a groove with the new team (plenty of time).

In short, last years first 1 1/2 months into the season when Peja played and Webber was out, we played 23 games (approx) and our record was....17-6.

PFFFT!! we also had Bobby, Vlade there too. We also had basically a whole other team except for D-Song and Brad. 4 players out of 12 that started off last year, this isn't the same team that was "killing" team last year.

The argument here though is Peja. Wether Peja plays or doesnt, you wont bring back Vlade or DC. BJ should be ready for the playoffs. Im counting him to be, albeit rusty, but hungry to play what little is left of the season at the time. Miller can do a decent "Vlade" job. DC is probably the only guy whos irreplaceable, but considering that Mobley is a threat offensively, he commands more man-on-man coverage. Its a matter of Peja moving more efficiently around screens and getting open without his injury slowing him down. Thats a whole other topic though. This team is more athletic than it ever was, and deeper (when BJ comes back).

And that is still relevant why? Have you looked at the roster? Do you see Vlade? Do you see Christie? Do you see Bobby? Do you see my point?

It's not about Webber any longer. That ship has sailed.

It is about PEJA. You want to continue to re-examine the past, feel free to do so but the past is not going to get us into this year's playoffs.

Peja has to quit being a spectator. He can be a part of the team without ever stepping a foot on the court. Bobby does it all the time.

He got his wish. He is, if he can produce, the last best chance this franchise has this year to do anything other than one round and out. He doesn't have the luxury of simply sitting back and watching as the team reforms into their new identity. He simply can't allow that to happen...

No way. More athletic then last years team I can't argue with that. But more athletic then it ever was, not really. When we had a great young bench and ran the break like no other team in the league about 3 or 4 years ago we were definitely more athletic then this team. We traded some athleticism with Barnes, and your right Thomas is more athletic then an injured Webber but no way is he more athletic then Webber in 2001. Evans is definitely an athletic upgrade, Mobley too. I'll give it to you more athletic this year but if you really compare it to years past, not really.

We had Hedo, Pollard and Co on the bench we had one of the best benches ever, this wasn't doesn't even compare.

Oh, geez.

Setting up an excuse ahead of time? Poor little Peja. He has an owie.

Blech...

I sincerely hope he gets better soon and I pray that when he does, he won't be tempted to use some of the excuses you're tossing out there.

That is so true. One part of me says injuries are injuries if he is hurt then he has to sit. Hamstrings can get worse as I understand (never had one since fishing, watching reality tv and BBQ'n don't require much use of that)

With that said Players have played on a lot worse injuries then Peja. Including Webbs new partner in crime AI. That guy plays no matter what.

Although I question his toughness to, you have to hand it to Peja...I have never heard him make excuses.

He doesn't even have to play, BW. BUT he does have to start being an active part of the team. Bobby stands up, cheers, etc. from the bench in street clothes and Peja could do the same.

I'm not saying he has to risk further injury. I am Kings fan. I want him healthy and productive.

What's I'm trying to point out is that he's distancing himself, at least in the eyes of a lot of fans, from the team instead of making sure it's obvious he's still a part of it.

Exactly. I've said it many times before, but I think some people do Peja a disservice when they try and dredge up all these excuses for him.

He's open to exactly the same type of criticism as every other member of this team, past, present and future. I am just very frustrated that some of the same people who would accept NO EXCUSES in other cases are so quick to parade them out for Peja.

VF, again, let the new guys play and see what they have, at least a couple of games. I think they need to get a feel for the team, and Adelman needs to know what he's got. Ill join your rant in 4 days if hes still out.

3 or 4 years ago, there wasn't as many athletic opponents as we have now with the sudden influx of young players in the league.

I'll hold you to that. Just so I'm sure, are you saying he SHOULD play by Miami or he should play in the Detroit game on Sunday?

Same here. I will be a bit disappointed if he don't play today. I remember since All Star break, they said that Pedja will be back by the Bobcats or Magics game. Well, it's already the Bobcats game...he needs to be here.

I really want to see Pedja do some cheering too. Or at least encouraging his teammates. Not sure if he will since he always seem like the shy and quiet type with no emotions, but I would love to see it. :)

Miami. I think he should come off the bench or start, but play limited minutes. When he gets back home, I think Adelman will have a good idea on how best to use his men when hes looked at all of them for the Detroit game, get a good practice in Saturday prior to the game, and get the ball rolling on Sunday against Detroit, which will be tough. Peja should be more confortable assuming his role in front of the home crowd with his new teammates IMO

I saw him do some cheering last game after High 5 scored that late 3 :)

Well, when your used to resting on Vlade's shoulders for years and hiding in the shadows of Webber, I sort of understand why he's quiet after taking those two guys away and all of a sudden becoming the focal point of an entire city, that and worrying about being held accountable for thousands of Webber fans anger. I think I would have a lot on my mind. Lets hope he clears the obstacles.

He never does - but then again I never really heard him saying anything relevant to an important issue. Even if he says something - lots of nothing comes out which is mostly correct approach

More excuses, my dear PFFFT.

He needs to step up. The "get out of jail free" card is gone. He's a professional making millions of dollars. I don't care what's on his mind. I want results and I want to SEE beyond a shadow of a doubt that he WANTS to be a part of this team.

I know, I sound like Im making excuses, but the truth is...Im tired of injuries, I would rather have people like BJ come in with fire in their eyes, and a healthy Peja. If were to go far in the playoffs, sacrifices are done now, not later.
