I've given Karl a lot of lee-way here...but am I the only one feeling like he's just not healthy enough to coach? Health-wise. I don't know how to say it the best way...but it seems like he just doesn't have that same aggression as a coach he did 10 years ago. I think his health has been a big factor for him this year.

He also slurs a lot of his words now. Lots of pauses and gaps between each one.

If we really want to let him go...I hope it's a resignation from Karl.
I don't think Karl thinks he is healthy enough. He has delegated some of his work to his assistants. Of similar importance is that he doesn't appear healthy. It must bother the players to think their coach is on his last legs. He doesn't appear to have the energy or vocal chords to be inspirational. I hope he resigns or some kind of amicable arrangement is arrived at.

I'm not a professional athlete, but surely there's some kind of psychological effect of being led into "battle" by a past his prime legend who looks like he can barely stand up on his own, takes practice days off, and will admit himself that his best days are behind him. However spectacular his past glories may be, it's not a good look for a group that already feels disrespected by the league. This wouldn't be true of every team, but these players need somebody on the sideline whose energy they can feed off of.

Because they are on the road and guys can't pack easily away from home. Hell, I don't know.
Why don't they just do him like Southern California did the homie Lane Kiffin?

Divac should call the whole coaching staff into a meeting, and be like, "Okay, everybody in here who's still employed by the Kings, raise your hand... Uh, don't raise your hand just yet, George..."

It's not a good sign that I like this way more than I probably should. Or is it? I just want to never have to see/read/make complaints about George Karl again. I'm already teed off that I feel obligated to tell Brickie he was right...

Yeah brick told us what we were getting when we started the herewekarl thing last year. To our defense it was replacing Corbin. We all wanted Malone. Brick has been wrong before though. Once I think lol. Yi Jiljian

Plus we didn't have the option of thibs or brooks or whatever. It seemed like anyone was better than Corbin.

Actually we did. The handwriting was on the wall in Chicago and the very reason that Brick and others were saying wait on Karl were the facts that we were not going anywhere anyway and Karl would still be around to interview WITH other candidates most noteably Thibs. That is exactly what makes this time the exception to the rule that 99 times out of a hundred you don't fire your coach mid-season.

I'm pleading insanity on that one. That was right after Boogie missed a month with viral meningitis, Vivek's infamous "jazz conductor" comment, and PDA's unconvincing "we know what we're doing guys" plea on the radio. It was a difficult time for everyone. Though I did reverse course and argue against hiring Karl at the All-Star break instead of waiting for Thibs so I'm still claiming partial credit. :p

There were whispers that Corliss coached one of our best games during the 5-game streak (I'd have to go back and check the game threads, because I think I mentioned it).

Corliss is very well thought of by the players, the front office, etc. He also has the bonus of being a former Kings player who was beloved by the fans. He knows defense and he won a Sixth Man of the Year Award AND a ring with the Detroit Pistons, a team renowned for defense.
That's all well and good and I agree with you wholeheartedly but it's different sitting in that chair for the extended period of time. One thin is certain with Big Nasty, it's that he has the respect of the players and the fans and as you said he has a history of playing well under defensive coaches. BTW don't forget his college championship as well ;)

In a way I feel for Karl. I think he truly did want to give it another go, sincerely.

However I think he overestimated his limits. I see in him personal frustration with his own health. I would not be surprised if an amicable split was reached. I don't think he wants to tarnish his legacy with a firing, and then sucking a franchise dry. At a certain point, money is not the most important thing.

I'd say if Cousins comments really are a reflection of the team tiring of Karl then it may be another coach firing. Vlade would check with the locker room before making any move.

I'm still wishing Vivek had channeled Steinbrenner and just rehired Malone.

Mike Malone and Vlade Divac could have been a long term combination that would have worked very well, especially for Cousin's growth.
Me too, and I think it was only his pride that got in the way there. Malone would come back, had Vivek shown contrition, and assured him no more meddling and that Vlade was in charge. He loved coaching Boogie as much as Boogie loved playing for him. A coach lives for a relationship and a player like that.

When was the last time we ever had a normal season? That being said, I'm all for this. Fire his ass and be done with it. We need to move on. Thibs please for the love of God!

Last time Vlade did that he got crucified. I remember all he did was walk in the locker room and asked the team "you want karl fired?" in a "what's going on" or what's this im hearing about you wanting karl fired type way. The media got word of it and ran with it. Made vlade seem like an incompetent gm asking players if he should fire karl or not when that wasn't even the case.
