he looked really good last year in limited minutes but i was impressed with him he averaged 1.4 blks in 18 min and just as many rebounds as Carl landry. Except landry got 10 more min a game
because you'd be paying to have him play in 30 games for the season. He may still be effective when he's on the floor, but my oh my how often is he on the floor.
Brandan Wright fits the mold of the kind of players we are pursuing. He grades out well in most advanced stat categories, defends the PnR extremely well, he's extremely athletic and mobile, he's a rim protector, and he's another ridiculously efficient offensive player who understand his role on that end. He also has value at both PF and C.
This guy has been deserving of a starting role the last 2 years. Hopefully, we give him that shot

Stamp of approval. He's the exact type of player we've been needing to play next to Cousins. If we're going to have subpar perimeter D then it's important we acquire a MOBILE shot blocker.

I do not object to Wright on principle, but I think the obvious major question is is Brandon Wright an NBA starter? Be a cool guy to have as a 4th big -- although that raises another issue, which is that with Landry already on board Wright's wimpy rebounding could set us up to be lousy on the boards off the bench. But now as a starter? Last year Wright averaged 18min a game. That was a career high.
If you believe in Dally as a starter, then Wright absolutely should be. His numbers dictate he should have been a starter already.

Seems like he wants to return to socal, but if its cali in general, then wouldnt mind pairing him next to cousins where we could move him to the 4 and have him utterly abuse everybody.

I think a guy we should target is Kevin Seraphin from Washington. I watched alot of his games last year and this kid has mad talent. But Washington dosent seem too play him big minutes cause of Okafor, Nene, Singleton and Vesley.
Hes had a bunch of 3-4 block games in his career. I could see him averaging 1.5 BPG maybe more with starters minutes. Hes has an incredible scoring touch aswell.
He Averaged 1.3 BPG in 20 MPG two years ago in 57 games played. This kid is flying under the radar and I think he would be PERFECT beside Cousins, and attainable because of Washingtons forward depth.

No, you are the one who has this thing about Daly as a starter. But Samuel Dalembert has started 605 gms in the NBA (of 774 total). By comparison Dwight Howard has only started 696. He may or may not be in decline now, but Daly's a proven career long NBA starter.
The gap is in physicality. Daly doesn't look thick, but he has length and surprising strength and has both been one of the better rebounders in the NBA throughout his years, and has been able to body bigger guys. Wright has been soft in his career. He almost squeaks when somebody bans into him. Its the Henson question.

The fact that we didn't want Robin Lopez at $5mil/yr but wanted Landry at $6mil/yr has me all thrown off... not sure what we're looking for from our bigs. Landry brings two big things... a very high ts% for a player that scores at his rate AND familiarity with Malone's system/good locker room presence. Lopez wouldn't have given up too much in the other categories and would have added in blocks... I dunno, have to wait and see.

And now a Kaman rumor... I am again amused because this all feels like Petrieland. All midlevel player offense all the time. Everybody has to be able to shoot/score. Everything else = well, will take care of itself.
"starter" is a very loose term with Dally. Guy has averaged around 20 MPG the last 3 years, while starting in half the games he's played in. Plus, he's obviously on the wrong side of his career.

I'm not complaining... just trying to follow along as best I can. Don't get me wrong, I'm not above complaining... just been thru this a few times now and have learned to let things play out before I pass judgement.
Nothing wrong with accumulating a bunch of guys who are efficient scorers on the offensive end and relying on a fierce commitment to team defense on the other end. If that's the route we're going then great... let's see how it all plays out.

here's the good side to Kaman -- and its got nothing to do with the title of this thread: with both he and Landry and Cousins we would probably have more post scoring than any other team in the league. No defense mind you. But we could score in the post. And obviously Kaman would give us 48 minutes of true center action between he and Boogie. We could run offensive sets with him as a major cog same as we could Boogie.
However Malone is going to have to march into little Petey's office here sooner or later and explain that you still need somebody to backstop you. And at the point that you have intentionally combined Cousins and Kaman and Landry on one frontline, there is only one more rotation spot for that backstop.

The problem with Robin Lopez is that there isn't any one thing that he does well. He isn't much of a scorer, a poor rebounder for his size, and only an average shot-blocker. Personally, I would rather have Cole Aldrich (who will likely come at a much smaller price).

I just don't get it. When the hornets got Cole, I anticipated big things, but he never got a spot in their rotation. He can finish and clean up around the rim, and his length and athleticism makes him a shot blocking threat. His per-36 minute production in that area was 13 rebounds and 3 blocks in the 15 games he had with the kings, and that rate of production is pretty consistent with the rest of his career in the limited time he gets on the court. The guy produces, and I just don't get why this team is dropping big contracts on guys like Landry when they have a guy who needs 15-20 minutes and WILL put up big numbers in the rebounds and blocks department. Lord knows this team has enough offensive weapons, and they need a guy like Cole on their frontline.
2-3mil per and its a done deal. But no, lets just keep stacking up undersized and underachieving 4's to build a frontline that will keep getting outplayed above the rim.

It's a pipe dream and it will NOT happen but with Cousins and Landy ( 
) as the 2 obvious front court players for this front office, Noah would be the ideal player to have on the team. Cousins-Noah-Landy would work on so many levels.
That is the type of player we would need to get. Someone who can play both PF and C, defensive anchor, excellent rebounder, shot blocker, a double double type guy who gets his without dominating the ball.
