Who would you rather the Kings play in the first round

I think I would rather take on Seatle.

Why for Seatle...
-Seatle is going to have most, if not all, the pressure on them...They are the 3 seed, they have court advantage.
-They are banged up for the time being, and their players may not be at full strength come playoffs...I'm assuming Radmonovic will either not even play, or just be getting back...Rashard Lewis is out indefinatley, so you don't know with him.
-Also maybe they have a playoff choker. Someona ala' Peja. Plays great until the playoffs, then falls off the side of the globe...Maybe?

-Plus with the aquisition of Van Horn, Dallas is just a flat out offensive juggernaut. And when Dampier is back, I think I would want to avoid them, at least in the first round.

I think being in the 5th spot is the harder route to the Finals. But I think both teams (Seattle and Dallas) will pose a big threat to the Kings in the first round, because they have home court avantage. The Kings will need to steal one on the road initially, but that too isn't promising because in reference to the team that eliminated the Kings in the second round, anything is possible. However, accomplishing the higher spot is better if Houston, Denver, Memphis or Minnesota pull an upset. Then the Kings will have home court advantage in the second round.

The question for me is logic Vs gut. Logic says Seatle is injured and depleeted so they should be the easier target BUT whipping Dallas in the paly offs has become a Sacramento tradition, the Kings realy are in their heads.

When i look at the sonics , i see a team with lewis banged up , "thug" fortson having physical and emotional problems. Radmonvic is out for few weeks , we have to play seattle if we want to make a run at the title. We need to play a team that is not deep , cause we are not deep w/o bobby jackson and brad miller. I love this bench , but cmon we need our all star center and our 6th man back very soon to win the whole prize.

^party pooper.......

i would rather face seattle because for one lewis is out.... Mavs just got stronger with the return of stack and anytime now dampier should be back.......

Defantly Seattle. We just lose to Seattle because we always had injuries when we faced them.

The Key to winning a playoff series is whoever wins the PG match-up. I would take Luke way more than Terry. Mike Bibby is better than both, but Jason Terry has more experience so thats why Seattle is the better match-up for the KIngs.

BTW: I am going to the Seattle game on Tuesday. I can't wait!

Seattle or Dallas in the First Round?

I love these polls. Because it gives me a chance to measure how we all are thinking.

In looking at the big picture, it really does not matter whether we play Seattle or Dallas in the first round because we will not have home court for either team. But based on match ups who would you rather the Kings play in the first round.
My pick is Seattle. Here are my reasons:

1. TRAVEL, TRAVEL, TRAVEL. I would rather the Kings to stay west, than to have to make multiple 3 1/2 hour plane trips.

2. Playoff experience. The Sonics have none, Dallas has a ton of playoff experience. Luke Ridenour vs Mike Bibby in a playoff series. Uh, I will take that.

3. Familiarity. Dallas and Sacramento has palyed each other 33 times in the past 4 seasons. In the playoffs Kings won in '02, Mavs in '03, Kings in '04.... it is the Mavs turn if you believe in that stuff. Or you can look at it as the team that has lost the regular season has turned around and won the playoff series. It all depends on how you look at it.

KINGS 17, MAVS 16 (Playoffs Kings 11-6)

4. Size. Right now, Dallas is a bigger team and the Kings have stuggled with big teams the second half of the season. Seattle has Jerome James at 7-1 and Robert Swift at 7-0. If we can't beat those two stiffs, we do not deserve to win anything. Dallas has Dampier, Bradley and Nowitski. Dirk alone makes me nervous.

If it were between the 2 for sure I would rather play Dallas.

But my overall stance is wait and see how it all plays out. Still to early, I think we will see some movement in the rankings during the last 2 weeks.

We need consistency. We blew out Cleveland and come home and loose to T-Wolves at home. Gets me frustrated why can't we play consistent. Too much to ask?

FIRST i want that gosh darn little "x"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This whole time I've been saying Dallas just cuz i know we match up well with them and we have the experience in beating them in the POs but they've been playing real strong lately...it would definetly be a tough series...but then i go and look at Seattle who IMO has owned us more so then any other team in the league this year...but they are getting very tired down the stretch here...everybody's shots seem to be falling off a bit...Lewis is out indefinetly (though he'll be back before the end of the season) Vlad is still out and they've been kinda struggling to find points...but Fortson is back he's seemingly gotten over his ankle problem and he's back to playing basketball the way that Fortson plays basketball (like an a-hole)...they are expecting (or maybe i should say hoping in the case of Vlad--just like us--he has the same injury as Brad...i kinda wish that Brad gets over his injury well and Vlad takes much longer to recover..heh) both Vlad and Lewis back for the POs so they are gonna be pretty deep...and i don't care what anyone says about there experience or lack there of it...that would still be a tough series...Sonics fans want us in the first round...but then again so does Dallas fans...what does that say....?? I mean I'm not the one playing the game but I have a little chip on my shoulder cuz of that (even though i know we aren't gonna go far in the POs) I don't want to hear other teams fans say that we are the weakest team in the WC Playoffs (even if we really are)

I was watching the Seattle game today and found it amusing the announcers said they would rather see us than Houston...

Houston cause more problems to the Sonics than Kings. No one in Sonics can guard Yao. If I was a Sonics fan, I would rather face Kings than them too.

I find that depressing, not funny. Given our up and down play, I don't blame them. We do, at times, appear to be the easier road.

I know^, that was what I meant... maybe amusing was the wrong word to use, depressing is much more appropriate. I guess I meant I was more amused at our fans, and how they think Seattle would in any way be an easy series.

I don't really find it depressing. I think they only mention it cause as of right now, they're either going to face Rockets or us. They would rather choose us cause like I said earlier, no one in the Sonics can guard Yao Ming. I'll rather face the Sonics than the Rockets (if Rockets were to get the 3rd seed).

If Brad can't come back and play at a high level, either team will put us down. The real x-factor for us is Peja(scary), but I've seen him play good defense against Dirk in the playoffs, I've also seen him drop 39 against Dallas in the playoffs. We need Peja to play well and Brad to muscle up a little inside to have any chance to win at all. Dallas is the better matchup for both of those guys, I mean the Sonics have really outmuscled/frustrated Brad every time we've played them this year. IMO Bibby and Cat will have a better chance to go off against Dallas' backcourt to. I also think that Rashard lewis is just a horrible match up for us. Add to all of that the fact that we have no fear of Dallas in the playoffs (Brad,Peja,Mike at least) and Id much rather see Dallas, although I think they could beat us to. One things for sure, we have way less margin for error now than we used too, If Peja can't play well we will lose in the first round.

Matchups are key in the playoffs. The Sonics are dangerous beyong the three point arc. Mavs are a better defensive team. They lead the Kings (3-1) and the Sonics lead (3-0) so far in the season. So it's a coin flip. They contained the Kings below their season average at .424 FG% a game. So I'll be surprised if the KINGS make it in the 2nd round solely from these team comparisons. The bottom 3 teams (Houston, Denver, and Memphis) are the only teams the KINGS owned tie breakers with in the playoff running. It will be hard to pull an upset and eliminate the higher teams. That's for sure.

I think all the teams (1-4) would rather play the Kings in the first round. The Kings have been predictable going 5-5 in their 10 games. They have been consistent but and it seems they're unable to make a run over .500 as the other teams (6-8) have shown late in the season.

give me the mavs any day. we've given them hell in the playoffs before even when we didn't win. i really don't like our matchup with seattle. they handled us this season, and we know the mavs in and out, even if they change their roster every year. i'd stick with familiar territory.

With peja ,brad and bobby banged up we need to play the sonics , sonics are a very good team but not as good as the mavs . Let the rockets have fun with the mavs , we should focus on keeping the 6th seed for our benefit.
