George Karl also scoffed at the notion that he may not have the energy to put up with a trying season. Said more energy now than ever before

Thanks to Sean Cunningham for stepping up and doing what a beat reporter should do!

I'm still mystified that Karl hasn't gotten a T by now during this streak - just to show the players he has their back. Even Gene Hackman knows that sometimes you gotta get thrown out of a game in order to further a bigger agenda.

I felt like Aileen was reading my mind with her article on Karl. Hope Karl proves that it isn't so.

I've definitely seen him throw some curse words the ref's way, it's just that they choose not to T him up.

Then he needs to throw more! Karl isn't a stupid man. If he's cursing at the officials, he's doing so with the full and certain knowledge of the potential consequences. I'd love so see him get T'd up - and I know it would blow the roof off the old barn.

Go George!

Its like, I want to blame the guy. But then I know he had throat cancer. So I can only imagine it is difficult for him to talk too much or loudly for long periods. In his interviews, he is constantly swallowing and very soft spoken. I'm sure his physical condition has something to do with it.

I did read somewhere (maybe from Voisin?) that he doesn't have the full volume of his voice that he 0nce had. He could still, however, get in the official's face...and I suspect we may see him do so.

They said the radiation from the treatment damaged his vocal cords. And as much as he says he feels better than ever, he doesn't look like it. So it's a tough situation. You feel sorry for the guy, but then there is a job to do which I'm not sure he can handle physically at this point.

I watched the interview. Karl is a guy who has seen everything and has learned from it. His record didn't come by luck. He was very thoughtful in his answers as some were questions that required some thought. I think he lied once when asked if he knew who called the meeting. He lied but I suspect he knew if he answered it truthfully, it would open a whole can of worms.

I don't think he's the kind of guy you throw on the trash heap. He can manage a team's players. If Boogie exploded and doesn't like Karl personally, I wonder what the hell he wants. He could learn a lot from Karl. Boogie NEEDS to learn a lot.

I like Boogie and now I like Karl. Please work some magic, Vlade.

Addendum: Given what I thought was a very truthful and thoughtful interview, I have no reason to believe he doesn't have energy. He says he is delegating so he might not have been fully truthful but I got the impression he has enough energy to do what he needs to do. Perhaps the best thing he could do now is run out on the court and have a crap fit when Boogie get's battered in the paint. I would.

Interesting take! I watched the interview twice and got a slightly different vibe from it - I think Karl was very deliberate with his answers, as if someone (Vlade) told him to be very careful about what he has to say, i.e. not throw any shade on the players etc. Notice how he dodged discussing his schemes and how players aren't buying into his way. I do NOT think he was necessarily lying though (except about who called the meeting), I think he's a guy that's very set in his ways that's being overruled behind the scenes right now and it's hurting his pride more than anything. My only concern from that interview was that he openly said that there'll be no change to his schemes, though he did give himself an out almost immediately saying that there'll be incremental changes.

As far as what Boogie wants - I'd venture a guess that he wants more focus on defense, slower post-oriented offense and more stable rotations (basically, what he had under Malone). Whether he and Karl can find middle ground - that all depends on Vlade. I absolutely think there is middle ground here, but it'll take both of them swallowing a bit of their respective egos.

I think we have to start considering benching Rondo. DC works better with Rudy and Cousins...insert Ben back in there and just let the team be.

I loved the answer where he said change doesn't happen like flipping a switch. It's a process. I think fans want switches to be flipped.

Did anyone see the article by Sactown Royalty saying that when our starters were in together they were VERY effective? Don't have a link or anything but it basically went on to say that we appear to have an effective starting lineup AND bench, but the substitutions have led to the same groups of guys not being on the floor together at the same time. Small sample size, but interesting none the less.

That may be the case from a statistics point of view but I feel DC deserves the benefit of the doubt and get a chance to start. That most likely will not happen though because then you get weak from an offensive stand point.

There's definitely a lot of noise among fans calling for immediate action that should be filtered out, but I do think there were legit concerns with how Karl's schemes fit with this roster. Better to raise those concerns earlier than later (and the players are much closer to it than any of us, obviously). Cousins didn't handle it maturely, but it's something he felt he needed to do which shows leadership. Karl has been there done that and I do think he wants to win, but he needs to realize that he can't just push what's worked for him in the past onto this roster.

We have had a full team together for 3 games, the first three. Then Boogie was out. Collison and Curry are out and we are stuck with one pg still. You can't have a regular rotation in this circumstance. Patience!!

Ya I think his schemes are fine with the exception of Cousins not fitting so far. I thought the team was adapting to a faster pace and Cousins comes back the team looks slower.

Hah, you don't have to preach patience with me - I'm as patient as they come! :) I very much doubt Karl's going to be fired anytime soon (nor should he be), but like I said - players are much closer to the situation so they saw enough progress (or lack of thereof) to raise concerns. Was it Cuz being a coach killer or was it Karl being stuck in his outdated ways? I have my opinion, but ultimately - that's for Vlade to work out.

That's like saying "smashmouth basketball is fine for GSW with the exception of Curry" - this is a star driven league, you go only as far as your superstar takes you. You adjust your schemes to fit his skillset, not the other way around. And I don't agree that the team was adapting to a faster pace at all (except DC who is built for that). Out of our entire starting unit, only BMac is built for it - and he happens to be the least relevant starter of them all.
