'Sheed picks up his 4th fouling Nazr, and Nazr hits the first free throw --- Spurs the first team to 50 in the third quarter!

Pistons with a disturbing trend to this point --- scoring three less points in each quarter than they did in the previous quarter (20 in the first, 17 in the 2nd, 14 in the third). Will need no less than 20 in the 4th if they want to win this game.

Both teams shooting under 40% ....

There's as much hard/physical contact going on in this game then as there is when the football is snapped.

The work these guys are putting into defending the goal and pressuring the ball is tiring these guys out. There's almost nothing in the tank when they're on offense ... this is happening both ways.

I tell ya ... the refs are earning their keep tonite ... bodies are flying everywhere whenever anyone takes it to the rim .... you really gotta pay attention where the defender is standing .... in or outisde of the half-circle.

To make it tougher ... there's switching on practically every pick or screen ... is that defender set or not.

To me, it looked like Ben Wallace beat Ginobili to that spot ... bad call ... Wallace got T'd up ... Ginobili makes the free-throw and San Antonio gets the ball ... can't recall if they got 2 after that.

I can't believe people were dogging out Ginobili erlier. I've seen Ben Wallace flop more than him tonight. Not to mention he is taking tons of contact and still finishing with amazing circus shots and he hasn't complained once. Did I mention he took over the game inside and out? How can you not like Ginobili? 15 points in the 4th so far... he's abusing the Pistons.

I'd love to see him in Kings uniform next year sigh ::not holding breath::
If you did you would asphyxiate. :)

Mentioned before how much I love Manu's game and wish there had been someway, anyway, we could have got our hands on him last summer when he was a FA. But there's just no way now. The Spurs MIGHT trade him for LeBron. Maybe. But he's more valuable to them than any King would be, and I'm sticking to my story that he's a more valuable piece than Peja at this point. Tough, clutch, scrappy, inspiring -- other than the pathetic flopping, what's not to like?

Like I've said before, the Pistons halfcourt offensive is borderline garbage. They can't score enough to hang with the Spurs, unless the Spurs go into a total meltdown and turn it over, airball jumpshots and get blocked on drives, leading to fast break points for Detroit.

Basically all of the Pistons 4th quarter field goals came after they called timeout to stop a run and diagram a play. They're good at getting that score coming out of a timeout, but then they revert back to having to work their tails off just to get a contested midrange jumper.

This is going to be tough for the Pistons. There were some bad calls but I think the Pistons need to keep their heads on and just play solid in game 2 and they can go for the win.

Pistons aint winning jack. They are lucky if they get 2 at home.

Pistons will need to go to 'Sheed much more in the low block in game 2. 6 shot attempts from him isn't going to cut it. Not to mention that Rip will need to shoot better than 7-21. Actually, if the Pistons get anyone other than Chauncey to shoot the ball reasonably well, they're much more in this game. Will need to focus on that in game 2.

Ginobli was amazing in the 4th. Duncan showed he was the class of NBA big men again.

Oh, and the Pistons got worked on the glass, which I didn't really expect, especially on the offensive glass where they gave up key offensive boards at the worst times (down 7 in the 4th with 2+ minutes, give up an oboard, then Manu scores the next 5 straight, or something like that).

i was expecting the spurs to win, but not in that fashion. i knew the spurs would be good offensively, but i didn't expect them to be quiet as good defensivly.

the PG matchup REALLY favors the pistons, frenchie needs to negate that advantage by playing better.

manu went NUTS tonight! i think he was saying " i want to be the finals MVP, not duncan!" althought duncan had a pretty good night for him, 24-17, nice numbers. this should be an intresting race, who gets the finals MVP

detroit will have something to say in this series, but if they play like they did last night, the series will be over in a hurry.

bowen played some wicked D. rip prides himself by running around so much, bowen was with him all night long, fighting the screens, generally attached to his hip all night. i wonder if pop will switch him over to billups at times for new looks if billups plays as well as tonight ( or better)

this is going to be one good series to watch, but man oh man, i wish it were the kings there instead of the spurs! i hear ya VF21, their crowd, well it was nice and all, but i bet arco thunder would have put it to shame. *when* the kings make it to the finals, arco, or wherever the kings are playing at that time *wink wink a new arena* that place will be rocking so loud, people in tahoe, and in the bay area will be putting cotton in there ears :D

go spurs

The thing with Pistons that bother me is that they go through long stretch and not score a damn point. Plus they need to stop relying on outside perimeter shots.
The key to this series is taking Nose down. He is so friggin annoying yet so damn good.

I still think Detroit to pull this out. I did not expect them to take game 1 in San Antonio. I am hoping Det. takes game 2 but even if they don't I am still not worried. They can do this. They surprised a lot of people last year and they can do it again.

Did the beginning of that game seem to be in slow motion or what? I was surprised that both teams were not hustling more. Pistons took advantage but both teams looked slow. That is until the4th where Ginobili took flgith.
Ginobili was fantastic last night. He is beauty in motion. Did he flop-yeah. Did Ben flop-Yeah. That is part of the game. Remember Vlade??? Anyway........Chauncey was really the only Piston last night playing a Finals type game. Keep in mind, they just played Monday and the Spurs have had 8 days.

this has the potential of being a very boring series.... unless manu goes off on the pistons... because no one outside of manu is all that exciting.... well, maybe robert horry... lol...

go spurs.... do it for the west.... mutha[Explicit] the rest....
I'm with you, just drag the season out a teeny weeny bit further!

This is a great matchup for a Finals. I pick the Spurs to win it all, but it wouldn't surprise me if Detroit kicks butt and takes it. They're certainly capable, especially if SA has a meltdown of some sort....hey, Ginobili can't play monster ball EVERY game, can he? Does Detroit have an answer?
