Sam Amick Cisco update

U guys should follow Amick's twitter updates about Cisco at practice...It sounds like Cisco is definitely back lol. Arguing with the Elie about his foot not being on the line and all.

I thought he wasn't gonna be back until Feb. at the earliest?

I don't think he's back into the lineup. Today was his first full contact scrimmage with the team. That in itself is great news since Martin won't even be cleared for full contact until "maybe" on the 12th.

Either of those guys would greatly benefit us right now. Garcia will fit right in with style of this team and hopefully he'll add alot to it. For all we know he could have a breakout year and be a 20ppg scorer!

lol not on this team with all the scorers and shots that gotta go around. 10-12 ppg maybe.

Once Cisco drives into a crowd, leaves his feet, and throws the ball into the 10th row, only THEN will he truly be back. :p

Always liked Cisco, glad to see hes on his way back. Although Im more interested in how Westphal is going to juggle the lineup once everyone returns. I can only hope Petrie has some moves lined up.

Brendan Haywood please. If we can add a shotblocking big along with Cisco when he gets back it'd make our D a lot better IMO.

LOL!!!! this reminds me of that rubio highlight thread....

what are these people thinking????

Not sure if Noc can really be moved. Which means we are about to have a monster log-jam on our hands.
Yeah, you can say that again. I don't know what the hell we're going to do. I'm happy Cisco is recovering, and I'm glad he's back on the court. I'm looking forward to Kev coming back to, hopefully next week. I am pretty excited about what this team might be able to do the second half of the season. But...

Where does that leave Omri, Noc, Donte, and Ime. Along with Kev and Cisco, thats 6 players for two positions. I'm beginning to think Petire doesn't have to make a deal, but he'll have to make two. I think Kev will start after a week or two, and Omri will remain the starter at the 3, which I would like to see. We can bring Donte off the bench first, and he can back up either Kev or Omri. We can fit another wing in there for 15-20 minutes, probably Cisco. But still, even without mentioning Noc or Ime, there will be a fight for minutes. Petrie definately has his work cut out for him.

This has been my fear ever since we turned down that trade to Boston at the deadline last year. I was hoping that with the starting role Noc would play well, pad his numbers a bit and we would be able to trade him off to a conteder for expiring contracts. With the way he has been playing this season and the current economy, I can't see who would want to take on Nocioni as a top up player.

I would love to trade him for a bunch of expirings but I am not sure that will be there case. Noc could well become our next Kenny Thomas, just in time where we are about to experience the miracle that is an expiring contract of Kenny Thomas.

That log jam will have to be sorted out one way or another, or this could turn VERY ugly when players like Donte and Omri loosing minutes. Or potentially worse, Nocioni falling out of the rotation and becoming truly unmovable.

The problem is that we all would definitely love for Cisco to get playing time over Noc. Except, if we relegate Noc to the pine, the chances of us being able to sell that contract is even smaller than it is now. But that puts the alternative at sitting Cisco, which also isn't viable. Westphal is about to be tested big time.

I'm excited about having Cisco and Kmart back. Yeah, something's got to give in terms of playing time, but we need to have all of our pistons firing to know what we've got. Or more importantly, what we lack. We're obviously lacking a big defensive presence at Center, so it's always possible that Geoff will pull off a trade. But I don't think that's as likely as some people think. What looks like a logjam quickly looks different when someone gets injured.

Feel fortunate. It's a good problem to have. I'd rather be saying:

We have way too many talented players for these positions..

Then saying...

Many we really need to get someone talent to play at those positions, the guys we have suck.

I agree. Playing time is the coaches problem. Team make up is Petrie's problem. You know that when Garcia and Martin return, that is, are ready to play, Westphal is going to play them. Martin you have to play and start sooner or later. Coach's problem is to find and use the right combos while essentially playing the players we are paying the most for. It's a problem for the coach but a nice one to have.

I have enjoyed the players we have and their surprising accomplishments but they haven't quite played well enough therefore I am looking for more and better. These two 6' 7" players are talented and experienced and provide an opportunity for the team to play better. The rotations will follow the results. Also, Petrie's management of the roster wiil follow the results and the opportunities/availabilities of desireable new players. It is a time and a process I look forward to and I don't have to - can't - predetermine the results. That would ruin my fun. But I sure hope it works out for the best. Think so.

One hope might be that declining $$ figure every year. Might be able to swap it for a roughly equal contract -- not an ender -- with the other team hoping to save because Noc's number goes down while their player's goes up. But unless that other player turns out to be a big, don't know what we would do with the the player who came back anyway.

Maybe the big hope could be a really big deal, where it takes Noc + another player or two to equal one large contract. Noc + Kenny + ? type of thing.
