Rudy Fernandez

You mean the same way Darko went back to Europe?! Did you miss that point as well?

If Rudy gets to a team where he is consistently getting good minutes he is not going back to Spain you can bookmark that.

Darko stayed because the Wolves overpaid him. He's making more here than he would have there. Still doesn't change the fact that the risk is too great to send more than 2 2nd rounders.

Well, that's the point actually. He doesn't want to play in Portland anymore. Which is why they HAVE to start thinking about taking 2nd rounders/cash (or something of the like) or he could walk away and they might get nothing in return.

In regards to Washington, he might like the idea of playing with John Wall? That's a possibility.

Haha Rudy Fernandez for Donte if that's not the definition of over rating somebody else's average player, while under rating our own hopeful stud.

Rudy has turned into a prima donna nothing more nothing less, I read that he wanted to be the number one guy in Portland or something earlier this year. B Roy went down with that knee injury and Rudy had his chance to shine in the playoffs, he promptly dissapeared....I love it when these guys egos are bigger than their skill sets.

Right because they're the same person because they're both from the other side of the ocean?? They must be robots over there and do exactly what the other is doing and feeling. /sarcasm

Well let me put it this way! I would know a hell of a LOT more about mentality of european players than you would considering

a) I am european myself and have lived across europe for most of my life
b) follow european basketball a hell of a lot more than you would. In fact I would see more european games in one season than you would in lifetime
c) have followed Rudy since his junior days and pretty much know more about him and his make up than you would.

I love it how naive some of you guys are an believe everything that is reported in press. I have this piece of real estate in atlantic ocean that you might be interested in. I reckon it would be a great get for you!

Fact is Rudy doesn't want to play in Portland anymore. He doesn't fit that system and he is not getting much minutes there with Roy and Miller. He is looking for a better situation for himself and is using the threat of europe to force Portland's hand to trade him. Its the same bull**** you hear from all the european players over and over again. Its their way of forcing something that they want.

Actually that would be incorrect. Darko, with his length, skillset and his efficiency that he displayed when playing for the international team would be one of the higher paid players in europe.

$4 million US is roughly 2million euros now anyone that knows european basketball would tell you that players do not play taxes in europe. Every salary is given to a player is after tax. When they sign a contract for 2 million euros it means thats how much they are getting after tax. Darko would have comfortably gotten an offer in the 2 million euro range in europe because he is a big man that matches european basketball perfectly. The kid has always produced at a high level when ever he played in europe, either as a teenager or a player on a national team.

I thought I'd throw in my two cents, and thats about what its worth. First! The euro is about to go down the toilet if something doesn't change in europe. Several of the european countries are in serious financial trouble, and since they're all connected by the same currency, there could be a domino effect if corrections aren't made. These problems will begin to trickle down to the european teams. I would not be surprised to see european teams tightening their belts in the near future. My point being, that the amount of money, a european player thats currently under contract in the NBA, will be able to hold over the head of its current team, will probably be significantly reduced.

How that might affect Rudy Fernadez in the present is anyone's guess. I like Fernadez and would love to have his skill set next to Evans. But I'm not sure how he would fit personality wise. He's a good shooter. He handles the ball well and is a good passer with an assist to turnover ratio of around 2 to 1. And he has good size. As for his value, well, if he wants to be traded and if Portland is serious about doing so, then I would sit back and see what kind of offers are summited.

Would I trade Greene, or Casspi for Fernadez? No!! I like him, but I don't like him that much. He's worth whatever Portland can get for him. And his value is diminished by the fact that his current contract is almost up, and that he has a big mouth. Actually, the more I think about it, the more I don't want him. I want his skill set, but not him.

Your assertion that Darko would make more money in Europe than in the NBA -- correct or not -- makes me wonder why he's not playing in Europe.

Rudy is a true PG, is 6-6, only 25 and his 2010-11 salary is just over $1.1M. Kings and Portland have traded before and are in different divisions now. I like him for the 1-2 backup and he would eliminate Wright For sure.

True PG? Are we watching the same player? He's a SG. And yes, I'd definitely be on board to acquiring him

According to today's hoopshype rumors, the Blazer are looking to trade Rudy, but want something of value back in return. Is it time to ship off Donte? The Kings could trade for him without taking back any salary, but what sort of cash and draft picks would they have to give up to get Rudy?
http://hoopshype.com/rumors.htm

i just don't get why we gotta give up talent to get a disgruntled player. hes good but not that good to give up donte. your talking about including cash and picks too? the word fleeced comes to mind

Time to ship opff Donte? People must be kidding. Rudy hasn't proven anything more thanh Donte has, other than that he has the potential to be cancerous. Rudy's a talent, but people seriously have to get over this grass is greener syndorme we've got going. We're the ones with the green grass. After 5 years of morale sapping hell, we're the team with possibly the best collection of young talent in the entire league. Quit trying to give it away.

I'm Bajaden, and I approve of this message!!! Paid for by the committee to elect no one...

No way I give up Donte at this point. I'd trade Casspi before I trade Donte. Probably not for Rudy though, unless Donte emerges as the obvious starter

What, are we supposed to just sit around and watch them develop? We've got to do "SOMETHING"! Now, now, now! :D

For a future 2nd round pick, I would make the trade. But anything more than that is not worth it because there is a high chance he wants the type of $ that we won't pay when his contract is up. He also has mentioned many times he would like to go back to Spain.

maybe a trade exception (since we are way under the cap) and can absorb his tiny contract and/or cash.. 2nd round pick(s)
but I wouldnt give up any of our players for him...

Must have missed this before, but great post.
