That's a pretty good game considering he's dealing with a groin pull or whatever. I would love to have him on this team.

Glad to hear he wasn't put out of the playoffs by his injury. Pretty rough game for the assisit/turnover ratio.

Yep, he will make mistakes next year due to his youth. But he was also playing hurt, and he has tremendous talent.

I think Geoff will have liked what he's seen in this game. I'll try and find some highlights.

This afternoon on SportsLine KHTK Grant "Know it All" Napear continued his stupid rant against Ricky Rubio. He said only reason he has gained popularity as a possible top #1 or #2 pick is because of "some YouTube video." He claimed that among "NBA insiders" the young Spanish star is not thought of all that highly, could become a liability as an injury prone athlete, and a few other snarly barbs. What got me is his remarks were so flippant and one-sided it would appear the arrogant Peaches has no real insightful knowledge of Rubio's utterly amazing path to this point, has probably never seen him play (on TV or any of dozens of YouTube vids), and may unwittingly be getting disinformation from all those so-called NBA insiders who would love to get their hands on Ricky Rubio. Other teams GM's and brain trust have to hope idiots like Napear continue to paint Rubio as a nobody instead of the highly skilled and potentially brilliant NBA PG he could end up being if they, not the Kings, are the ones selecting him.

Again, the MS&E fired Koz and kept this guy.

And not to side with Grant, but Rubio pretty much is famous for his YouTube videos. But to say that he's not "though of highly" among NBA insiders is pure baloney...

No! Rubio is not famous because of his youtube clips. He is famous because his performances on the court deserve respect and notice. Now if Grant wants to be an ignorant hick and continue to think that his **** doesn't stink and the game is not played out of the borders of USA that is entirely his problem and no one elses.

He wouldn't know the first thing about Rubio. He never would have seen a single game of this kid and he wouldn't know the first thing about him. What Grant is doing is seeing that the kid is european so all of a sudden he is a white softie that can't play. Its the attitude that this douche has had for years. He wouldn't know a single thing about Rubio or any other prospect in the draft but its never stopped him from opening his gob before and it won't now.

So do you really think that these scouts wouldn't have know much about Rubio without the youtube clips?! I can guarantee you that these guys would have known about Rubio for the last 5 years.

That's interesting, because his buddy, Reynolds, let the name, "Rubio" slip at the beginning of last season. And the tone was one of admiration and adulation, nothing like a sneer. Me thinks the games are already beginning....

I agree that his YouTube vids helped make Ricky Rubio a household name among nearly all basketball fans - in USA - but certainly not in Europe where he was extremely well known from his first pro game at 15 years of age! I can recall NBA players like Navarro, Rodriguez, Fernandez, a couple years ago saying Rubio would soon be the best professional basketball player in Europe - which most believe he now is. In the Olympics he gained even more fame, was given due credit by certain Team USA players, especially Kobe Bryant for his play up until the championship game which was not a stellar outing as a result of a hand injury suffered early in that final game. And yep, keeping Napear while letting Koz go is just pathetic, to say the least.

Yep, I clearly remember that particular game when Jerry mentioned "Ricky Rubio." It seemed to fly past Grant, not that he'd never heard of him, but had nothing to add - much like today on his show/rant. Over the years, it's been abundantly clear to me Jerry Reynold's is way closer to the Kings brain-trust and far more shrewd in his NBA analysis than Mr. Arrogant Know it All.

I find it interesting Grant would take a strong stand against somebody that Geoff is currently scouting and that our draft position says is a strong possibility as our pick.

I wonder what Grant would say if we get Rubio. I would laugh so hard if he started talking about how he is one of the best young point guards in the league and talk about how great it is.

I find it interesting as well. What do you suppose his angle is?

For weeks Napear has been absolutely on a no holds bar it's Blake Griffin and no one else even remotely in the picture at #1 - Kings, Wolves, Wiz, Clips, whoever. What was different today was his slighting of Ricky Rubio as not only unworthy at all of the Kings at #1 but maybe not even at #2-4. He mentioned GP currently in Spain, but then brought up the fact that Rubio missed first playoff game he was over to scout him. I believe GP has seen Rubio live and in person several times before as have other Kings scouts. For me, it's just blatantly obvious that Peaches is not only anti-Rubio but naive in evaluating him with any credibility. The only other name I recall him casually throwing out was Thabeet as "someone who would have an inside defensive presence Kings sorely lack." There must be a couple dozen or more folks here at Kingsfans.com who could run circles around Napear when it comes to knowing and evaluating European pro and college basketball talent. I remember leading up to the Final Four tournament he admitted to barely watching any college games this season, so it stands to reason he knows zilch about Euro basketball. What a howdy doody dunce!

You beat me to it. Grant = Kings = Propaganda...

Well said. Couldn't agree more. Youtube has helped Rubio garner attention with the casual nba fan. Anyone who really know basketball realizes rubio is the top pg prospect to come out of europe in the past decade, maybe ever. Rubio earned his respect by outplaying guys 5-10 yrs older than him, and by putting forth a pretty good showing at the olympics when he was only 17. If anything, Rubio doesn't get as much attention as american college players, because they are on espn and sportcenter all the time. I don't ever remember seeing a Rubio highlight on sportscenter.
