And Conley is on a wildly differently structured team. If you get a team full of traditional post people and perimeter guys who can't create for themselves at a high level, then having a PG to get those guys offense becomes increasingly important. When you are on a team who's Top 4 returning weapons (Reke, Cousins, Thornton and Beno) can all create their own shots, a PG who actually does more than jsut bring it up and pas it off to initiate things could almost be an impediment.

Felton fit well next to Amare, because Amare needs his offense created to some degree, and so of course did most of those roleplayers. But put him on Miami, and he would be an awkward afterthought at best. Not a one size fits all thing.

Having a guy to manage the flow of the game, set up the offense and keep things working would make such a difference on this team that I wouldn't have to repeat the same point over and over. The Grizz look different because they have a system. The Kings don't. The Grizz have a system because they have a guy that can work a system. You are assuming Westphal has a system and that the players aren't executing it. I'm not sure that is true. In any case, the Kings went through a lot with the introduction of Cousins, Dalembert, and Thornton to the team and if we assume Westphal had a system, I am willing to cut the players some slack. Neither Dalembert nor Thornton had a preseason with the Kings where most of a system is installed. The Kings are getting by on their talent or so it seems. Westphal seems to be an excellent manager of their emotional state but x's and o's seem to escape him. Next year will show if Westphal can bring more. The team is in place. Hope he listens to Coachie.
