Remember Pearl Harbor

When I got to go to Pearl Harbor and saw the film clip on their little tour and all the pieces of history, I was touched. I just hope that people continue to remember it.

Pearl Harbor Day is a tough one in my household. My mother was 5 years old and living not far from Pearl. She said sometimes she still hears the booming in her dreams.

My husband is half Japanese, and had a relative aboard one of the carriers. Even though he is 2 generations removed from the event, he still feels some guilt, shame and loss of face on this day.

I've been to the memorial as well. It is extremely moving. If anyone ever is in Hawaii, it is a must that they go to the Pearl Harbor memorial. Unfortunately, as more time goes by, it seems that less and less people even know about it. I hope that it is being taught in history classes at kid's schools.
