Rebuild

I'm going to be the one to start this thread.

-Draft picks
-Young players
-Big/Athleticism
-Get rid of Bibby now while we can
-Get rid of this poor excuse for a coach
I'm sick and tired of watching the Kings go no where.
The truth is we are not going to win a championship with this team now or in 5 years unless we make moves.
Start building a foundation with Martin, and our upcoming picks.

Please be reading this Petrie, because I don't think your going to get it on your own.

i'm totally with you dude, i still can't believe there are people who think time is going to make this team better. i don't care how many mle or 16th overall picks we add this core will NEVER win a championship. rebuilding (whether it's risky or not) is our only shot at making a comeback. in the nba mediocrity is worse than being a cellar dweller. trade bibby, miller, and artest for all the enders and picks we can possibly get.

Musselman is just getting worse and worse... but who would we get as the new head coach?
Mario Ellie, Tamjanovic, Silas, Fratello.. just off the top of my head, I would prefer a coach with expierience so they would know how to play and develop the players right.

well whoever they choose it's gotta be in line with a type of system that they can build around. that's why the suns are so successful, they have a system and acquire the right players to make that system work. just like we did in the golden era. there has to be some sort of vision, this team was just slopped together with no plan behind it. we need to rebuild through the draft and we have to do it now with really good draft classes coming up.

These are all incredibly unique ideas. I can't fathom why these points have not been brought up before on this board.

This thread was a frustration release for me, I realize these ideas have been posted before, who knows, the more we post what needs to be done the more likely Petrie just may happen to stumble across this page and do something for the fans and organization.
I couldn't tell if you were being serious with your post or just an ***?

I'd disagree with Fratello, but I think there was a big mistake made in going with someone that had absolutely NO playoff or championship experience simply because you're going from a guy that had plenty of it to someone that talks loud and can't back it up with anything. And he won't achieve it here...

I'd add (maybe) Stan Van Gundy, Larry Brown (go ahead, hate me for it, but records don't lie), and Carlesimo to a list that includes Tomjanovic (my pick from day one), Silas, and maybe someone that is inexperienced but battle tested and PLENTY recommended, Marc Iavaroni. I think we made a mistake by not bringing him in for an interview. But remember what he was busy with at the time.

Outside of that? I'm all for rebuilding. This isn't working. And it sent shivers down my spine to hear more Laker fans in Arco than King fans for the first time since at least 1992.

I had a physical reaction to that, too... but I wouldn't describe it as shivering.

Bibby isn't the problem here. He is one of the good things about the Kings along with Kevin Martin.

When will people realize the NUMBER ONE problem on this team is the front line, not in the back court. The back court is just fine, and all in all if we had a more athletic and dominant 4 and/or 5 our 3 position is fine with Artest as well.

Focus on finding away to improve the 4 and 5. Then let them gel. That's really the main problem here.

you're delusional, this core isn't going anywhere and this mystery big that's going to turn us into a championship caliber team is not going to just fall into our laps. this team is going nowhere, we must rebuild.

I am totally with you on this thread - even if it has been dicussed many times before. I actually think that we are already in rebuild mode. We have a nice cast of young players who I would like to see more of. I would like to see many more plays run for Kmart. I would like to see Price playing again. Even if he struggles we are building towards the future here. We need more Garcia and Douby time.

Lastly, we need a young big man with prospects. I like Darko.

i like darko as well, my hope is that they can sign him as a free agent (don't know how likely that is since he's a young big man with skills). my dream scenario for the kings is for them to dump their big contracts (miller and bibby) and then get a draft pick for artest and use that pick on an athletic 2 way big. then sign darko and give him the starting position at preferably the 4 (i think he's going to be a very solid player once he's given the playing time at the proper position).

i agree, hopefully some major change will come in the not too distant future

this coming from a guy still living in 2002

Would be nice to try and scoop up one of the Warriors bigs, Diogu and O'Bryant look pretty promising.

Diogu's another one of those guys we already have -- a very undersized "big" Thus far in his career looks more like Malik Rose or Corliss than he does Brand.

O'Bryant would be interesting if they were just giving him away because Nellie had no use for him. Has the size, lottery pick, I'd definitely take a flyer on him in a youth movement depending on the price.

I dunno, I watched Diogu quite a bit in college and he's a pretty good shot blocker/defender, hes great in the post, I would say his defence and rebounding potential leans towards Brand more then it does Corliss or Rose.

I think O'Bryant just got sent to the D-League, but yah hes a tremendous shot blocker and rebounder, he just looks pretty thin right now for a C/PF he's got the body to get bigger though.

Another 2 bigs that are possibly expandable are Hilton Armstrong and Cedric Simmons, both athletic defenders. With Chandler and West on that team I can see them possibly giving up one of the two. I'm liking Armstrong more strictly because hes a great shot blocker and came from a great college, Simmons seems like he has more potential though.

If we do go young and big (rebuild) I would love to see us getting a good bigman coach. I would love to see Vlade as bigman assistant coach. If we are gong after Darko this summer maybe we could use Vlade to get Darko to sign for us if we have cap room.

I've emnetioned that before -- if we did get a young big, I have no idea who on our coaching staff is qualified to teach him the ropes. Vlade knows even less about coaching than Muss, and one suspects would be the anti-Muss when it came to work ethic, but it would be nice to have him back in the Kareem big man mentor role if nothing else. Course, not sure that lessons in flopping and behind the back passes are exactly what you want your young bigs learning. ;) Maybe tell him just to stick to teaching post game footwork.

Are you telling me Muss couldn't teach a young big man some post skills?

I can picture it now:

Musselman: Well, statistics say that if you go inside and shoot the ball then you'll score 55% of the time.
