Rancho Cordova getting indoor soccer team and arena

Apparently going to be built by the old Kilgore Cemetery but I’m honestly not sure there’s enough if j space to build an arena there.

That's like 1 mile or so from where I work. I'd love to be able to see some concerts in a place like that and not have to go to Thunder Valley or Hard Rock (or other casinos, etc.). I could leave my car at work and walk there and back.

Assuming that the Kilgore site is in fact set in stone (which I still feel like might be some sort of error considering the sheer amount of other sites available under Rancho Cordova jurisdiction -even though a lot of that is either in the flight path of Mather airport or still in need of groundwater contamination mitigation), the new arena would both be within walking distance of the Sunrise (and Zinfandel really) light rail stations and close to multiple highway 50 on ramps (driving on Folsom boulevard on an event night would be a nightmare but it always really has been). Thoughts and prayers to the poor state workers and occupants of other various offices on Sun Center who suddenly might have to share that road with actual human beings now though. Also assuming that Sheriffs facility out there is going to be gone as part of the build out. Not sure what they do about the cemetery, which is both very historic (lots of century old graves out there) and directly in the ,idle of where they want to build.

I’m totally ignorant when it comes to futbol/soccer but is there a ton of demand for these teams in the US? I know it’s a huge international sport but soccer clubs seems to be popping up everywhere. Des Moines is getting a pro team of some level soon and the owner owns an Italian team that loses millions of dollars every year. Is the demand there NOW or are investors getting in as a bet on the future.

It might be a combination of what you a referring to above (i.e. demand is there and investors are getting in as a bet on the future) and a way to drive up the popularity of the sport heading into the World Cup in a few years.
