Pre-draft workout confusion????

is there nobody in the draft who supported the kings as a boy :(....

Out of the "top 6" we have had two (barnes and Drmmond) in and one deffenatly not coming (Davis)... right??

so that leaves

Beal- somone said not going to anyone out of top 3 or 4 ?? (have i got that right)
MKG- been at a few of the outher teams hasnt he?
T-Rob- working out with drummond today haven seen him anywhere else tough?

Anyone know who these guys have worked out for??

Barnes, Beal, and MKG have been or are scheduled to go to Charlotte, Washington, and Cleveland. Robinson has been to Washington and is going to Charlotte this week.

I think this has more to do with posturing than deliberate avoidance at this point, after all everyone's working out for Charlotte. But if you add it all up there are some pretty compelling reasons to avoid Sacramento. Evans has been jerked around with his position and trade rumors. Cousins has been jerked around with the front office allowing Westphal to call him out unfairly. The league perception right now is that Geoff Petrie isn't doing a very good job as the GM and the front office is on auto-pilot. The owners are trying to move the team and/or might be going bankrupt. There's been a revolving door of head coaches for the last 5 years. The arena is a slowly deteriorating heap. We're an absolute train wreck right now. Would you willingly sign yourself up for that? Somebody will though since it's still an NBA paycheck. And some of these problems will take care of themselves if the team starts winning. The others basically start and stop with ownership and, well, David Stern. ;)

I sometimes wonder if Joe/Gavin have their heads in the sand, and are truly oblivious to the perception of this franchise. They might actually think that everything is great and that Sacramento is on the upswing.

If MKG/Robinson/Beal/Barnes all decide to not do a work-out with us, I wonder what the Maloofs would think of that. If those player's agents indicate that they don't want to play in Sacramento due to the state of the franchise, would that be an eye-opener to Gavin/Joe that maybe things truly are 'that bad'?

I don't see any of those top 6 players refusing to come to Sacramento if they are drafted, and even though Petrie has indicated that he won't draft someone he hasn't worked out, I think he still takes any one of the remaining available top 6 if there is someone he likes left. (Provided a trade isn't in place)

This is exactly how I feel. They seem like they are in some weird state of shock with how bad things have gotten for them over the past 4-5 years. Denial at it's worst.

What worries me is that looking at the Kings website, it seems like they are putting more effort in selecting the new SKDT members than working out players for the upcoming draft...

Why would that worry you? Do you expect Petrie to have a daily blog to the fans dictating his every thought about the talent?

Can't see Petrie showing his hands like this, though. I don't care if you plan on moving down in the draft, you still work out someone who MIGHT be there at #5.

Not necessarily. As has been written, workouts are to separate the player from the person. Not working out someone might have no bearing on whether you draft him or not. If BPA is a SG and next is a defensive specialist or a big I see Kings passing on another SG. Who you don't work out can be a smoke screen too.
