Spent the afternoon at the Portland Historic Auto Races. I used to go to the Monterey Historics quite regularly so I was thrilled to find we had our own here. And unlike at Laguna Seca the racers here seem to treat this as a serious race rather than a parade for their million dollar toys.

I first hit the chicane off the long straight off the start.

How NOT to pass.

Formula Cars bunching up.

The inevitable result.

Then I visited the final turn (Turn 12)

They also had auto cross open to those who came with their car clubs.

All in all it was a great day and I look forward to it next year when I'll take my car along.

An arson was responsible for this fire on Aug. 7 on Vierra Road near Brownsville. The suspect was captured on Aug. 10 and is being investigated for as many as 60 fires in the past three years.

Just out of curiosity, where does one go to snap pictures of bald eagles and what lens was that taken with?

You can certainly see bald eagles in the Sierras. I have a friend who lives in Cape Breton, with a nice view of the Canso Strait. From her front porch she often sees 20 or 30 bald eagles flying above the waters. I would so love to see that.
