for those who dont have the insider the deal looks like this....Its similar to the deal we almost made for Nate Robinson last year....

Kenny Thomas, and ??? for
Eddie Curry, Jared Jeffries, Jordan Hill, and the Knicks 2012 first round pick

> Curry(1yr deal) could back up spencer and is a legit Center...

>Jordan Hill would be a nice pick up and a good backup to JT...

>and the 2012 could be a lotto pick? who knows?

Although this would kill our free agent money... we would have up to 5 players picked in the lottery, and a very talented young team.

Hawes/Curry/Brockman
JT/Hill/May/Jeffries
Noc/Greene/Casspi
Martin/Garcia
Evans/Rodriguez/

It's the ??? that worries me.

I'd do it just to get a look at Hill and the 2012, but why does NY make this deal?

I'd only consider this if the ??? is Beno Udrih, otherwise, I'd rather keep with the status quo.

I'd do this as long as the "???" isn't Martin, Evans, Hawes or JT.

The ONLY reason the Knicks do this is to make a run at the 2010 FAs.

Okay... I am working on what would actually work financially...

Let's just assume it is just Jeffries, Curry, Hill + pick (trade cannot take place until Aug 10 as Hill just signed a contract)

The Kings could give up these players in addition to Kenny to make this work

Scenario 1: Greene or Casspi, Hawes, Nocioni

Scenario 2: Beno or Garcia, Hawes, JT

Scenario 3: Martin, Greene or Casspi

Scenario 4: Nocioni, Casspi, Greene, and Rodriguez

Scenario 5: Beno and Garcia if NYK can give up Chandler, Douglas, Sene, Crawford, or Hunter

I may change my mind after I find out who the ??? is, but other than that, I would do the trade in a heartbeat. The question is, why would the Knicks do the trade. I like Hill, and Jefferies is a decent backup at the PF position. The draft pick is inticing.

So lets apply a little logic here. Curry has this year and a player option for the following year. I doubt he'll walk away from 11 million dollars, so he would be here for at least two years. Jefferies has this coming year and a early termination option for the following year. An ETO is always a player option. So I doubt he'll walk away from 6 million dollars. So its probably safe to say that he'll be here for two years.

When you add up all the salaries of Curry, Jefferies and Hill, it comes to $20,643,943.00. So New York is clearing 20 mil off their books for next year. They take back Thomas in the deal because his contract is up at the end of the year. The question is, who else would be involved. It doesn't make sense for them to rid themselves of salary, to just turn around and take salary back. Last time I checked, KT's contract is 8 mil. That makes around 12 mil or a little less to make the rest of the deal.

Garcia has 4 years left on his contract. Beno has 4 years left on his contract and Nocioni has 3 years left on his contract. Greene's contract would work in the sense that he has a team option at the end of this year, but he doesn't make enough to make a difference. So to my mind, if your going to take back a contract with time left beyond the end of this year, it would be someone you want.

Are you arriving at the same destination I'am? Martin makes $10,180,170.00 this coming year. Combined with KT's salary, it rounds out just a couple of dollars shy of 19Mil. Which is probably enough to do the trade. If not, you could throw in Greene and it would certainly work then.

I don't know if there's any validity to the trade rumor, but if there is, why would the Knicks want either Cisco, Beno, or Nocioni. They would be defeating the whole purpose of their trade, unless, as I said, they would be recieving someone that they really wanted. Who knows? Fun to speculate though..

Its obviously not Beno or Nocioni.
From the NY perspective it would save them about 14M more in cap space next year.

Nocioni could arguably be traded at the deadline for an expiring contract or partially guaranteed contract saving them another 7M giving them a salary obligation next year of about 6M total  Talk about room to rebuild...

The price to clear the rest of that would be Hill who they may or may not believe in and a pick 3 years from now when they may believe they will be good again.

I dont think we'd take on all those players... maybe a combination of Jefferies and hill, or Curry and a pick. And I doubt we would give up any of our young players in this deal

I think the Kings would have to give up some young players if they intend to get Hill and a draft pick.

I don't see how they can do that without taking on more salary and Beno and Noc have longer contracts than the guys they are shipping out. I don't see how this makes sense without NYK getting a valuable young player in return.

Bajaden laid out the numbers, Kevin would make sense financially and I'd be good with that deal since Hill could make a nice 3 man rotation up front.

We are under the cap currently so the salaries don't have to match. Thomas and Nocioni might make some sense since Noc's salary gets lower each year.

HEY GUYS... the deal would not include Martin, JT, Evans or any player that we really want... Garcia maybe???? but probably not... i could see beno in the deal cause the knicks are in the market for a PG now... and beno is certainly better than Jason Williams right now...

but who knows...

the one thing im sure of is that the ??? player isn't gonna be anyone we really want around

The only way this would make sense for the knicks is if Kevin is being traded... Tyreke and Martin at least... if it doesn't involve either of them, this is full blown rapage every way possible. I guess we could lose Thompson and Hawes... but I don't see us trading two big men at once like that.

Is this a lot of talk about nothing? I'm not an insider so I don't know, but the Topic on the link supplied was.

Lookahead to NBA trade deadline 2010

So, is this a current possible trade? Or, some writer looking ahead to Feb of 2010?

You have mis quoted the orginal article. The basis is that last year there was a potential deal of KT for Nate robinson and jarried jefferies. The author said if he was Petrie the cost of taking on jefferies contract has now gone up. For the Kings to take Jeffries they should ask for Hill and their 2012 #1 pick. They traded the 2010 to the suns for marbarry.

The whole point is the knicks want cap space so they have to pay to create it.

Any why is that?

But it's a real rumor or a trade proposal from Sherindan?
Sheriden is speculating what could happen SIX Months down the road at he 2010 trade deadline.
Never too soon to look far, far ahead.

And so …

With Friday marking Major League Baseball's non-waiver trade deadline, it means we're nearing the point at which we hit the six-month countdown to the NBA trade deadline.

We're giving up our current best player for a nice #3 big man?
A third big man (difference there), he could be as good or better than the two we already have and potentially set us up for years to come.

I like Martin but I don't really hold much value in being the best player on the worst team in the league. You don't get something for nothing. I am not on the ship Martin on the first bus out of town train but this is a gamble I find intriguing.

You know it's TDOS when one journalist's speculations about possible trades 6 months from now instantly get 2 pages of reactions.
Well since most of us aren't insiders we couldn't see the full context of the article.
