Plane scrapes wing during landing in Germany

The "B" shaped character you used is actually "ss", not "b". ;)

I don't remember a lot of the German I took, but I do remember that! :D

Bah! Well, it looked like a b to me. :D Still, a crazy event.

Props to an excellent pilot to get control of the plan and take off again for another go-around.

I agree. That pilot earned his pay for that one.

I also keep thinking of a video from a few years ago, when a Jet Blue airliner had a stuck landing gear facing sideways, and tried to land the plane that way. The plane did land safely, but the front tire was ground down.

That was down in SoCal, wasn't it?

I had a friend who was a pilot in Vietnam and flew in the reserves when he came back. He told me once that any dummy could fly an airplane in the air, but a "pilot" is really paid for emergencies. :)

Look at the angle at which the plane is coming down! You'd imagine that the pilot would have realized that he was not in a good position to land and would have pulled up.
