Phoenix/Sacramento Trade

Jespher

Starter
Sac Out:

Ron Artest
Brad Miller

Sac In:

Leandro Barbosa
Shawn Marion

Pho Out:

Leandro Barbosa
Shawn Marion

Pho In:

Ron Artest
Brad Miller

Why Sac does it: Improves athleticism, rebounding, team speed, and fun factor. Gets rid of a head case for a classy vet (Marion) and finally gets a reliable backup PG who can also play alongside Mike Bibby and play better than matador defense. This would give the Kings a very quick tandem to go alog with Martin, Garcia, and Justin. Hopefully they could work on moving KT and Shareef too, but atleast this would move Brad. Kings would also get younger as Brad is old and Barbosa is not.

Why Sac doesn't to it: Shawn Marion has a very large contract.

Why Pho does it: Improves defense (Ron), gets a skilled passing big who can shoot (Brad), and gets cap relief by not completely overpaying Shawn Marion. Also might be able to use these pieces in a play for Kevin Garnett???

Why Pho doesn't do it: They have a good thing going, why break it up? They would have an issue with backup point guard, but last year, Barbosa didn't spell Nash for long anyway. Brad has a bad contract too, and Ron (as we all know) can be a bit crazy;) .

Kings lineup Post Trade:

PG: Bibby/Barbosa/Price?/Shakur?
SG: Martin/Salmons/Douby/Garcia
SF: Marion/Garcia/Salmons
PF: Williams/Abdur-Rahim/Thomas
C: Hawes/Williams/Moore/Abdur-Rahim

Hopefully someone would still want Shareef somewhere and we could move him too. Milwaukee for Gadzuric + Yi?

This isn't even a remote possibility for a variety of reasons, but I wanted to take issue with one point in general. This wouldn't help Phoenix's defense. Maybe 4 years ago Ron was the better defender, but with the league rules now I'd say Marion makes a bigger impact. Particularly if you include his defensive rebuonding.

Thanx Smiles, I think that we just have different ideas about how to build a winning team. You seem convinced that the Kings need a financial overhaul to give them flexibility down the line, but it seems to me that flexibility doesn't make you a contender, having great players makes you a contender.

What good would it be to further downgrade our talent in the hopes of hitting it big down the road? Personally, I would rather try to upgrade our talent through trades, which are easier to control than the manic free agent market, and know what I have on the court than hope and pray that the team has vision down the line and they don't pick any more busts.

No..I think he means that even if you drugged Steve Kerr, he'd still have the smarts to say no to that deal.

And no, the Bucks will not to SAR for Yi either.

Both deals work great for Sac, but really really bad for the other teams involved.

This is the funniest response possible. Your trade is insanely lopsided. We get the TWO BEST PLAYERS (by far!) in a 4-person trade. And as someone else said, Phoenix does not get better on defense! Not even close!!! Marion is probably the better defender than Artest, plus you give them Miller who is a minus on defense. Hilarious.

Steve Nash + Brad Miller = 37 pts, 13 rebounds, and 17 assists a night. Not to mention the magical disappearing ball that would seem to live in the hoop for phoenix. Highly entertaining prospect. Plus Miller isn't a crybaby like Marion (I wanna trade to anyone away from a contender just so I can be the Man! Wahhh!). Still, no way the Matrix gets traded for Miller. Ever.

However

Artest > Marion. People don't fear Marion, he isn't incredibly strong like Artest, Marion never has the potential to be the best offensive and defensive player in the game (like Artest was before the brawl). People forget that for a split second Artest = Kobe, but way crazier.

Thank you...

If Geoffe could pull off a move like this, we should annoint him the executive of the year.

Haha...Thats whats fun about trade threads Semi!

If we did realistic ones it would be depressing...Cause we all know what passes for realism in Kingsland (Mikki for the MLE).

Miller doing the horse gallop and Artest ball hogging is not something that will help the run and gun Suns. They have a very high octaned offense and Miller is about the complete opposite spectrum of this, also Artest with his ball hogging and being a head case is the complete opposite of what the Suns would be looking to do.

They sure have the speed and scoring down, but need to add some Defense like Dallas did as of the last few years with Dampier at Center.

Isn't Pheonix a up and down, fast paced team that shares the ball? And isn't Brad Miller kinda really slow? And then there's Ron, who's a one-on-one player...why would the suns do this. Plus, the suns are trying to get rid of big contracts and I think we all agree that Brad has a big contract.

btw. I would love if this trade could happen.
