Peja has not scored over 30 since c-webb

here is an intresting thought since C-webbs returns peja has not scored 30 points or more highest he had, was 29 couple of times just somthing i noticed

(don't worry not hating on c-webb or anyone pejas fault) :)
 
interesting point, whats also suprirsing about peja is that his high is only 40 points...i'd think it would be more...peja can never quite put together 2 great shooting halfs...

Right, because Webber took a whole 17 shots a game last night, compared to Peja's 16.

And Peja didn't play 50+ games last season with Webber on the sidelines, not to mention the playoffs the year before, and 20 games at the start of the 2001-02 season.

Guess what, Pedja homers... IT's A TEAM EFFORT!!! It's not important how many points any one player scores. It's about the W or the L...

If you're new to the site and Pedja is your favorite player, that's fine. BUT keep in mind this site is named KINGSfans. We support our team - ALL of the players. It's not right to try and boost Pedja by dumping on Webber any more than it would be right to dump on Pedja to boost Webber. They are team-mates. They have the same goal in mind. They want the Kings to win a championship.

It's okay to have a favorite player but it's really naive to think ANY one player is greater than the team.

I think it more a procuct of our offense that not many players on our team put up big numbers because we play more of a team game, where no one player dominates the ball on offense the entire game.
 
But for a scorer like Peja to only have a career high of 41 is pretty eye-popping. He gets 30 points on 15 shots; if he got hot and gunned for a game, he could get 60 without shooting as much as a player like Kobe shoots when he gets hot. Remember when Kobe shot 12-18 from downtown? Peja rarely takes 18 shots a game.

And it's true that Peja has trouble putting together two great halves.

I agree with VF21. I mean, as much as I love Peja, I agree that it's a TEAM EFFORT. They're working towards one common goal, and no one person can get them there single-handedly. Of course, don't get me wrong, I love seeing Peja shoot the lights out, but I don't put a premium on high scoring. It's the W that matters to me, and that the team worked together to get it.

I think the relatively low career high is really because:

1) he gets tired, and is rarely able to put together 4 strong quarters in the same game
2) he can be taken away if a team gets serious, in part because most of his game is off the ball, and in part because his game is "passive" in that he can't attack effectively for long stretches in the post or via the drive. A guy like Kobe can't be -- he'll just draw fouls and get you in foul trouble.
3) he has many talented teammates -- there is no need for him to score 40+ (or for any King to). Even during the year that Webb averaged 27ppg I don't recall him breaking 40 very often. Did have that one 52pt 27reb monster, but that was an aberration.

yeah,it was like 50 or 51 points along with 26 boards.He did take like 45 shots though

It was 47. 24-47FG 3-6FT. Still hard to believe he only took 6 free throws with 47 FGA. Got to be some kind of record.

Whats more amazing is he had 10 offensive rebounds that game.

Anyways, I digress. It is somewhat surprising Peja hasnt had a 50 point game yet, especially with the shooting ability he has. He was the go to guy for 58 games last year. Anyways, I'd rather have him and Webber both go over 20 every night and shoot 20 shots a piece then 1 of them take 47 shots and score 51, but maybe its just me.
 
Is 41 that bad of a career high? Dirk's is 43. Bibby's is 37. Marion's is 38.

But how about Peja's 17 rebounds against the Lakers on 11/16/00!!!!

Dirk's in a similar position to Peja -- playing on extremely talented teams with lots of other scorers.

Bibby and Marion really aren't scorers or shooters on Peja's level.

In any case, for the reasons I listed above, Peja's career high really doesn't surprise me.
 
Remember when Tony Delk dropped 53 on the Kings at Arco (2001)? He set his points, FTA, and FTM career highs on that same night. On a side note, he also had his assists career high (13) against the Kings in 1998.

Anyway, my point is that I'm not extremely surprised that Peja's career high is 41. He plays with a bunch of all-stars, who are all capable scorers. Seeing that Tony Delk's career average is 11.7 points, and was only 12.3 ppg the year he scored 53 goes to shows that it completely depends on the team and type of player.

That Delk 53 was still one of the freakiest things I have ever seen in the NBA. That just doesn't happen.
 
I say if we don't win the championship this year, we trade them both so we don't have all these people coming in crying for poor Peja and the bad bad Christopher Webber...and vice versa.

While I agree that Peja does not exactly play up to 100% of his ability with Webb in there (Webb doesn't with Peja either), I'm sick of hearing this every day.

Well i should add that Peja MUST SHOOT more shots than webber in any Case if webber shot 17 times peja must shoot at least 19 times C-webb takes the most shots which should be the other way around

that's because peja has not played against the kings, yet.

What is interesting is the question why the best offensive player (at least in the execution portion) doesn't take the most shots. I think it's not only interesting, but inexplainable.
 
i am really not too sure that Pedja is sitting at home thinking about the fact he hasn't scored over 30 since Webber came back. That was almost expected, son't you think? Webber is always going to be the one to take the most shots.... I am not saying that I am alsways for it, but that is just how it works. If Pedja was taking 18-19 shots every game, he's be scoring a lot more, but this team is not about WHO'S GONNA HAVE THE MOST POINTS.......
However, I predict that at least 1-2 times this season Pedja will go over 30!
