I don't think the players would feel hurt at all if they checked in here. You think they aren't fully aware of how a handful of people can react?

For the most part, I think our board has been VERY supportive of the team, the coaches, etc.

People are entitled to their opinions and the players realize that as well as anyone. In fact, I think they might actually be worse on themselves than we've been on them.

Don't worry. It's all okay.

:D

Don't take too much solace. Just because they don't log on doesn't mean the occasional player hasn't come by as a guest to read some threads.

Oh, but don't you know, funsc, that according to some these players get paid millions of dollars to play a game, therefore they should not have feelings? Of course, that is if you believe that if a person has enough money, they suddenly stop having human emotions.

I don't have a problem with pointing out where improvements to the game can be made. But, as a long time avid Kings fan, who has loyalty for anyone who is wearing the Kings uniform, I have serious problems with the attacks on the players that have been occuring here lately.

I SUPPORT MY TEAM, THE SACRAMENTO KINGS...IN GOOD TIMES AND IN BAD...WIN OR LOSE...ELITE TEAM OR CELLAR DWELLAR AND ALL POINTS IN BETWEEN.

GO KINGS!!

Yeah most of the recent threads are just sad. Fortuanlty for me I have to be out of town and very bussy the next few days so I won't have to read most of it.

i doubt their feelings would be hurt, you guys are acting like Cwebb's sitting at home thinking "Hmm some fans on kingsfans.com dont like me, im depressed now" WRONG! they face stuff like that on the court everyday. you think when they go to away games people treat them like god or something? they face people like this on a regular basis. im not defending the people starting threads like "mobley is a cancer" im just saying lets think logical for a minute.

They face people like this on a regular basis on the road, true. But you EXPECT that from opposing fans, having your OWN fans turn on you is a whole different ball game

It's not about being logical. It's about respect and civility.

For the record, Webber WAS hurt when he was booed by fans at Arco. It was pretty well documented and discussed at the time. Arco has ALWAYS been known for supporting the team. The people who booed AND especially those few who still boo to this day are an embarrassment to the rest of us.

There are ways to discuss your team and its shortcomings without resorting to player bashing, name-calling, etc.

It's very simple. Boo or not, Webber and Pedja and Cat or whomever else is next to be called out are still great players and they must know that. It may hurt them that some of us are down on them right now, but...

Our standards have been raised so high that any player on this team _should_ get butterflies in their stomach every night. So, it is part and parcel of bieng a Kings player. I am sure they are cool with that part.

Our standards have been raised because they have been great team and great players for so long.

Do you folks think that Kingsfans is the "best" forum for Kings fans? I do, at least I used to, but some of the real negative stuff I have seen on here lately I would hope is NOT what one would expect the best fans to say.

I think some of the negative stuff is totally unnecessary, but I think a lot of it is just frustration. People vent in different ways. The main thing is that, for the most part, the frustration and criticism has been civil if not exactly positive.

We have an excellent forum here. We don't need to let the pot-stirrings of a very few people become way more important than they really are.

Silly funsc.

The players don't have feelings.

At least, they're not supposed to. They're supposed to go out every night and play their butts off, like good little basketball automotons, and win US a championship so that we can bask in the warm, fuzzy glow of their personal accomplishments.

Duh.

Hmm Celt you should see some of the other Kings sites. You havent seen nothing. This site has been relatively tame compared to others. Prsonally I havent really seen much too bad. Things I may disagree with but not much more.

I've even seen knowledgable rational people(Well except for the last few days:p ;)) talking about how Kurt Thomas is better then Webb. Was funny I tell ya.

Of course we mean a lot to them. Its no different than popularity for anybody else -- if eveybody is bagging on you, whispering behind your back etc. its got to be an incredibly uncomfortable feeling. And as public figures, not as if they can just take their money and run off to a desert island somewhere to avoid the humiliation. Human beings, remember? Working on the same emotions and same motivations as all of us do.

We are making a big deal out of nothing. It is human nature. When we win 5 in a row we are going to have threads raising players in the sky. Also perfectly normal. We just have su survive these 6 long days without any games played.

What is really embarassing right now is that ARCO isn't the loudest arenas around the league anymore. Man, I got to watch a couple of games played ARCO ; I thought in first place my TV Set speakers were broken. Then I checked and realized that my speakers were fine, the ARCO crowd was quiet. How strange is that?
It seems that the crowd only gets into the game when it's a close one or whenever Kings are being blown out. Sounds like the old Kingfan spirit has vanished, sounds like the ARCO crowd turned into a bunch of VIPs like those in the luxury box. Don't get me wrong, we've great people on this board like VF and I know whenever she goes to ARCO goes out loud but still it doesn't cover the whole place.
I think throughout the years we've got used to the fact that the team was one of the top squad in the league. I remember, back in the days when Webb, Vlade and J Will arrived in town. The ARCO crowd was something different at that time.

You can say that again. The ARCO crowd IS different. It's very sad. I'm still loud.

i don't think that's quite true when talking about professional athletes... most of these guys have been the center of their world since they were teenagers, by now they have a pretty thick skin and a very different way of looking at the world than you or i do. of course they would rather be cheered than booed, but do you think webber stayed up late night when he was booed at arco? or maybe he did and you were there to prove (jk ... jk!)

seriously, pro athletes, especially ones in the public as much as NBA players, just have a different reality & what would make you or me upset just isn't the same for them.

Actually I think you have that entirely backward -- having been worshipped for such a large percentage fo their life, I'm willing to bet they feel the jabs every bit as much as we do, perhaps more. Some get jaded, and of course ironically the same fans who made them jaded then pile on them for becoming so, but some do not. And in Webber's case he was clearly hurt.

I think its closer to the truth that fans make up the excuse that players don't feel so they can justify their insensitivity to themselves. "Oh, yeah I'm being an *******, but its ok, he's not human, he's just a player." Fans like being *******s -- sports give them an outlet to let out their inner jerk in a way most hopefully would never do in the rest of their life.

only going by my admittedly brief exposure to various pro athletes. not saying your wrong or right, but in my experience, they really couldn't care less. in their world, they are ALWAYS worshipped/praised/cheered, etc.
