OK so what if the Laker deal can somehow pull in Minnesota - parlay the Kings haul into: Towns, Randle, rest of the reported kitchen sink from Lakers, keep #6, and lose Landry? Anybody cool with that? Minny drops to #2 and gets some bit of sugar from Lakers or Kings (that 2021 pick or something). Minny probably more comfortable with Okafor anyway.
LAL can afford to give up everything in the Cousins deal - they can sign Aldrich or whoever else their heart desires - they don't need assets to lure FAs.
I'd consider Wiggins/Towns/Rubio.
Hahaha. You'd CONSIDER that?
Just fire Karl tomorrow, make a nice pick with the #6 pick, win some games next year, forget any of this happened.
OR trade Boogie and burn the fanbase to the ground.
Your choice Kings!
That's a lot of talent, but I believe the Kings would want at least some veteran talent in the deal. Randle is essentially a rookie, so you end up with three rookies for Cousins.
Hahaha. You'd CONSIDER that?
I was being a bit sarcastic.
It'd obviously be a good trade but I'd always be reluctant to trade DMC.
Vlade will lose the Kings fanbase as well if he trades DMC to the lakersI think Vlade is reluctant to trade, but it sure looks like he's going down that road. If in fact a Cousins trade is open for business, it makes sense to talk to everyone, including Minni, Lakers, Orlando, Philly
I will say this for the thousandth time: when you have a young HOFer virtually ANY package for him is a step down. Wiggins actually rather stunk it up last year. Maybe he gets there, maybe not. Not sure I see it. Towns you certainly hope for. Rubio...is dubious, at least at that level.
A lot of people gamble. Its a human weakness, a disconnect in our ability to correctly balance possible rewards vs. current possessions. In short we are over-optimistic. Casino owners know this, and so they rob us blind (not me, I don't partake) year after year, and we go back for more.
Dumping a proven immensely talented ALL NBA center for kids you HOPE will one day be ALL NBA players is the same weakness speaking. Its why draft picks are so overvalued too. We see the possible upside, and it quickly becomes the only thing we see. All the negative outcomes get washed away as we chase that one possible reward. DeMarcus Cousins is here and so good you basically need somebody to be a Top 20 player of all time to significantly outflank him. You pick up kids and you hope, but you absolutely cannot know this. These guys are not LeBrons or Shaqs. The best that can be said is that best case scenario Wiggins and Towns and Rubio is a package which legitimately COULD work out. But it certainly doesn't have to. Wiggins might be an 18ppg scorer. Towns might be a talented 15-8 type guy. Nobody turns out to be a franchise guy. And so the franchise waddles on chasing what it already had.

Wiggins stunk it up last year? Are you serious? It's obvious to anybody who knows the game that he will be a star in this league...and sooner rather than later. Sure, he's not a "HOFer" but would you really turn down a package of him, Towns, and Rubio for Cousins???

And neither is Cousins...LeBron carried some terrible teams to 50+ wins...yeah, eastern conference, I know but putting Cousins RIGHT NOW in that mix of players is just not fair. Now to be fair, having a stable franchise would be a step in the right direction and not keep dumping talented players for lesser ones. The jury is still out until proven otherwise so all we can base this upon is IF he gets to that LeBron, Shaqlike impact for his team.
I wouldn't just turn it down, I'd call whoever called and tempted me with it a ******* idiot.Wiggins stunk it up last year? Are you serious? Yes I would.
The entire point of drafts is to acquire DeMarcus Cousins. When you have found a Top 10 player in the world, everything else becomes irrelevant. Anything and anybody else you acquire would just be an attempt to, you guessed it, get back that Top 10 player in the world you already had. You can't trade up unless you pretty much are getting back multiple Top 10 players, or at least one Top 10 player and a couple of elite friends.
And Wiggins is a great athlete with a shaky shot. who put up an entirely average SG statline as a rook. He'll be good, but a "good" SG is one of the least impactful players you can have. He needs to be the full on great in order for his impact to match the hype. Durant took a big leap after his rookie year, but then again Durant was a freak. We'll see.
Vlade will lose the Kings fanbase as well if he trades DMC to the lakers
Let's see if he wants to start off on a wrong foot...or on no feet
I wonder how many times Vlade has to say that he isn't trading Cousins?
@mr_jasonjones: Vlade Divac in a text when asked if the Kings are planning to trade DeMarcus Cousins: "Nope."

Except he played SF
There's the plan, and then there's what actually happens...
The fact that Vlade is still talking to the Lakers (and presumably others) doesn't indicate to me that he's interested in the firing of Karl.
Vlade is the guy making the decisions you know. If that's his plan, that's the way it should work. If he says he wants to draft so and so, well other teams can make that possible or not. But if he says he doesn't want to trade Cousins, other teams are just SOL.
