Wiggins stunk it up last year? Are you serious? It's obvious to anybody who knows the game that he will be a star in this league...and sooner rather than later. Sure, he's not a "HOFer" but would you really turn down a package of him, Towns, and Rubio for Cousins???
I wouldn't just turn it down, I'd call whoever called and tempted me with it a ******* idiot.
You can't replace Cuz. Just as you couldn't replace a young KG, Dirk, Duncan, Shaq. HOF bigs are extremely valuable, rare, and pooling lesser talent together never gets you what you had. Why? Because legit franchise players, centerpieces, are incredibly hard to come by. You need one. Steph, Lebron, Dirk, Durant, Wade, Kobe, Shaq, Duncan, Webber previously with us, that's what you need. Without the foundational centerpiece you'll always be chasing the few teams who have it, or you're hoping for a once in a couple decade run like Detroit had.
You never trade away such a piece when it's already in your possession, especially in a small market like ours. You trade a HOF big and you end up like the other teams who have. Regretting it for the next decade.
Should ask why a team as historic as the Lakers are doing everything they can to get Cuz. It's because they know exactly how valuable that type of player is. He's the centerpiece. Once you have that, you build around it. They
always go after a centerpiece.
