Once Again .... Bench Proves it's Worth

If we ever going into a "negative stretch" of games .... BRING ON THE BENCH !!!

Our bench players attitude was contagious .... Miller/Mobley and finally Bibby (in the 2nd half) played with the ATTITUDE that Barnes & Songaila so eagerly shared !!!

I love it when I see that kind of ENERGY & COMMITTMENT.

The thing about the Kings bench is that it just not an experienced bench with Martin, Barnes, Evans et. al. on there and well, we all know how RA loves his vets. The reluctancy to play them and the criticism it did receive is because of that and we just simply didn't know what was there. Now we have some idea of what can be found on the bench and that is hustle, a lot of it. Perhaps more hustle than talent. But, that's ok.

Its funny because for the longest time all you ever heard was how the Kings lack those hustle guys and all they had were guys who thought they were too pretty to play dirty. Now, we have a lot of guys who are not afraid to get dirty and do the hustle plays to help win games.

We have enough talent in out starting 5 to get away and even help balance it out. Rick is still going to stick to his old guns, because its who he feels comfortable with. But at least now we know what we do have.

I think Matt Barnes deserves special kudos today. His hustle and willingness to contest the opposition on every play was infectious and got us going when we were starting to wilt after taking the first quarter lead. Mobley was hurting and out when Matt made several inspiring plays that showed the others that he was here to play today.

First let me start by saying, I like Adelman and what he's accomplished within the King's organization. So, with that said ... here goes ...

I wonder if anbody calls Adelman "a horses a$$" ... here's why, I guarantee ya'll are gonna like this one:

If one person calls you a horses a$$ ... what does that person know ... don't pay no nevermind to what that idiot says.

If another person calls you a horses a$$ ... still, the same .... what does that person know.

If a 3rd person calls you a horses a$$ ... it's time to get a saddle.

My point ... what is it gonna take for Adelman to KNOW WHAT HE HAS WITHOUT ANY RESERVATION ??? Is it denial or as the media says TRUST in his starting 5 ???

Rick has said since the start of the year he wanted to develop a solid second unit. Maybe he will finally start to believe in these guys enough to put them out their more often. It wasn't just this game they've played good. House has been getting murdered on here but the one thing I noticed was his D along with all the other bench players. They are just more athletic then the starters and thats gonna come in handy later on down the road. That being said Mike and Cat both had horrible shooting first halves... and Brad, Mike, and Cat still combined for 71 pts today. But the team play was what won today, funny how it doesn't seem to matter who Adelman has on his team, we are like 1 game off last years pace.... hmmm

71 pts Al, 71 pts. Maybe if his teams didn't consistantly play .700 ball he would change.

71 pts Al 71 pts.

My issue is ... leaving the guys out there ... squandering 10-20 point leads .... not putting your opponents away when they are down.

Our bench can do that !!!

We really won't know till C-Webb, Peja and Mo-Evans come back and play with any consistency.

I'm sorry but I don't get this.

Rick Adelman has this team, even without Bobby, with a sporatic Pedja, with other various components at almost the exact same point as last year's miracle team, the one people pointed to before Webber came back as the one that could get it all done.

In addition, he has EIGHT new faces.

What is it going to take for some people to realize how extremely talented Rick Adelman is and how very lucky we are to have him?

Its trust in the starting 5 -- one of the 2 or 3 best starting 5s in the league -- and why most of his serious detractors are the "horses' asses". Amazing how people can go straight from bemoaning what a terrible bench we have to critiquing Rick for not playing it more, apparently without any pause or stop in between.

On this day in Minnesota the bench stepped up HUGE and got the job done. I'm not ready to put them into starting roles quite yet.

I trust RA. There is a reason why he does what he does. I strongly suspect he knows the players and what they're capable of much better than we do.

The guy coaches two real starters, one second-year guy, a rookie and a newbie to the team to an impressive win and you think it was an accident? You really think he didn't have a clue what those guys were CAPABLE of doing? He may not have been confident they were going to win before the game, but I can pretty much guarantee he had the faith they had the necessary tools to do the job.

I have faith in Adelman. Adelman has faith in Geoff Petrie. Geoff Petrie has faith in the players he brings to Sacramento.

It all works for me.

I know what you're saying AL... I really do, but you can't argue with results. Teams squander leads all the time in the NBA, not just the Kings. It's a game of runs. Add to the fact all of the Role(bench) players on the Kings that have had their best years under Adelman and the way these supposed underused and underappreciated bench players stepped up today... and it's kinda hard to argue with his methods concerning the bench(at the moment).

ive always liked RA from day 1...well from the first day i was a kings fan at least...a lot of people are quick to criticize the guy...but a lot of people think he's good for this team...like I...i don't understand why people aren't a fan...but i definetly am...some nights he gets outcoached but what coaches don't have nights like that every once in awhile

Okay, you editted as well ... me too !!!

I'm not arguing with you here ...

Don't throw that .700 stuff at me .... I know that. That sounds like Rant Napear.

Our King's are capable of DOING MUCH-MUCH better ... given the chance.

Can you honestly sit there and tell me YOU DON'T GET FRUSTRATED WATCHING THE KING'S PLAY ???

I know the King's ain't gonna win all their games .... but, the games they lose, most of those games they lose by HURTING THEMSELVES. Yeah, and we can chalk it up to ... we'll do better next time ... but, it happens again and again.

We're at the half-way point ... I'll try and cool my jets about this topic, but it's the one that gets me going the most !!!

AL you know I like you, but I swear sometimes I'd think you'd only be happy if the Kings never lost a game. Guys make mistakes it's the NBA. Even the worst teams in NBA history win between 10-20 games a season, they have to beat someone. Today was a result of the way RA used his bench. It was a testament to his coaching style that the bench was so prepared and confident... not a chance to attack it.

Al - Do you watch other teams? They, too, have bad games. They shoot themselves in the foot on occasion. They tank games they should have won. They use poor judgment, etc. It's part and parcel of the NBA.

Do I get frustrated watching the Kings play? DURING the game, sure. But I don't find much justification for doing it after a win. And I certainly don't assume they could have won every game had they not hurt themselves? Or whatever you're saying frustrates you so much.

So, to VF and KP .... like I said ... this is the one thing that just gets me going.

Yeah, I see it happening to other coaches and other teams ... like you say ... that's the NBA.

It ain't the first time and it won't be the last.

I'm enjoying this win today ... at the start of game time, like a bunch of other folks ... it didn't look to good ... no Peja - no C-Webb - Mo not back - in Minnesota - they're on a 5 game winning streak.

I just get so pumped-up when our King's win like this !!!

Glad to see the "bench" contributing especially this afternoon. Always good to know that there is potential if needed. However, in only works for a short period (couple games). Hope, our starters come back soon.

Hey there is nothing wrong with sticking up for the bench they have been underappreciated(at times even by their own fans). You're not totally off base, I get mad at him sometimes too. I just like sticking up for RA...I think he's even more underapprectiated.

I think you just hit it right on the head.

If I'm guilty of anythng ... it's being to critical on RA !!!

Ya know ... it's alot easier supporting/analyzing our King's when the discussion/arguement is versus a NON-KINGS INDIVIDUAL.

Try that same discussion/arguement while being on THE SAME SIDE !!!

Okay! :D

One game at a time, Al. Savor this one as long as possible and then look forward to the next one. It's all good.

Personally,i do find it very frustrating to watch them give up a 15-20 pt lead, sometimes more than once a game.I don't it's RA fault its more like a loss of focus,or maybe it becomes boring , who knows. I do wish they would put more teams away when they have the chance, like today.. GO KINGS!!!!!
