Speaking of trading Bonzi...

Sacramento Trade Breakdown
Outgoing

Bonzi Wells
6-5 SG from Ball State
14.6 ppg, 7.9 rpg, 3.1 apg in 34.4 minutes
Incoming

Voshon Lenard
6-4 SG from Minnesota
8.3 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 1.5 apg in 19.9 minutes

Nene Hilario
6-11 PF from Brazil (Foreign)
0.0 ppg, 0.0 rpg, 0.0 apg in 2.0 minutes
Change in team outlook: -6.3 ppg, -5.6 rpg, and -1.6 apg.

Denver Trade Breakdown
Outgoing

Voshon Lenard
6-4 SG from Minnesota
8.3 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 1.5 apg in 19.9 minutes

Nene Hilario
6-11 PF from Brazil (Foreign)
0.0 ppg, 0.0 rpg, 0.0 apg in 2.0 minutes

Bonzi Wells
6-5 SG from Ball State
14.6 ppg, 7.9 rpg, 3.1 apg in 34.4 minutes
Change in team outlook: +6.3 ppg, +5.6 rpg, and +1.6 apg.

Successful Scenario
Due to Sacramento and Denver being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Sacramento and Denver had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Denver just tried to trade Nene for a SG, we give them a good one to work with, especially because they really need to trade Nene after the Francis deal fell through. We might need to send over a pick, too. But this move is huge- Lenard is a FA after this season, get to add a great young PF at a discounted price from Bonzi. Of course, we're stuck with Nene-SAR-KT at PF, and rookies at SG. Maybe Artest to OG, SAR to SF? But we get a lot of talent out of this without making a big commitement to Bonzi, which might really hurt our cap space.

I'd.... ultimately do that deal. I think Denver would, but it doesn't help their lack of 3pt shooting.

Would of course miss Bonzi though.

The problem with that kind of thing is thta whole, yes, Denver needs an OG, what they really need is an OG who can space the floor. Bonzi and Carmelo are both primarily inside players (although I have noteced Melo beginnign to hit those outside shots), and so is Miller. They really need a shooter type rather than another post guy.

Well, I (or anyone else) can forget about acquiring Tyronn Lue:

Press Release - Hawks guard Tyronn Lue has suffered a sprained Medial Collateral Ligament (MCL) in his right knee, according to athletic trainer Wally Blase. The injury occurred during the team’s practice today at Philips Arena. Lue is expected to miss 4-6 weeks of action.

http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/39007/20060206/lue_out_4_6_weeks_with_sprained_mcl/

Sucks for Hawks especially, he's been great for them off the bench.

I dont like the idea of sending bonzi off, but does anyone think we are going to resign him? Including him with one of the philly three could bring back some value. I was thinking that maybe chicago would send Tim Thomas along with ben gordon or luol deng for bonzi and corliss. Thomas has a huge $13 million or so contract, but its expiring. Ben Gordon and luol deng are both still on the rookie pay scale. I've been trying to keep up with this thread, but its hard & I appologize if this has already been mentioned.

From Chandler's recent revival the last 7 games:

10.7 pts, 13.9 rebs, 79% FGs, 64% FT. Forget the block number..

Plus tonight: 8 pts, 11 boards, 2 blk, 3 ast, 4-6 FT.

Don't think we need/can absorb either Gordon or Deng unless we ship out one of the kids. Maybe Gordon if he agreed to be a 6th man at 1/2 and let Cisco be the 2/3. Maybe.

The man I still want off of Chicago is clearly Chandler. But that would still be tough given Chicago's complete lack of size otherwise.

I was thinking about Chandler, but I'm just not sure about his contract- its long, expensive, and he seems to be underperforming a la Erick Dampier. Also, it would seem that obtaining him would involve sending Brad Miller to the Bulls- which may not be a good idea considering his apparent positive relationship with ron ron. Although, I do seem to recall an article not too long ago about the Bulls needing someone like Brad Miller (not a trade rumor, just that they needed someone like him).

As a fan, I'm not totally opposed to this. Afterall, Chandler's upside is intriguing- 7'1" and only 23 year old. However, considering his lackluster performance this year, I definitely would also want gordon or deng + one or both of the picks the bulls got from the Knicks in the Eddy Curry trade: this years first round & the right to swap first round picks in 2007!

The only way I see the Kings making a move like this is if they totally commit to rebuilding around Artest and Bibby. Also, it would be an opportunity to buy low & sell high. If Chicago is already down on Chandler this soon into his contract, I would trade Brad and Bonzi (who we may not be able to keep anyway) for a couple of young players and a pick or two. Brad still has considerable value for a bigman, probably a top 5 or 6 center (shaq, yao, ilgauskus, camby...) and if the Kings are truly rebuilding, why not go after some young guys? Don't forget, the Knicks are pretty much in the cellar these days, which ensures a lottery pick this year and maybe next year too.

There was an article about them wanting Brad, and even the Bulls announcers were talking about him earlier this season.

Chandler had health problems for a bunch of the first two months or so of the season, now he finally seems to be reviving himself with this 8-game game stretch he's on.

With Chandler, you are lucky to even be getting him, let alone more of their youth.

And you want Chandler and Brad TOGETHER on that frontline. Enough being puny and weak. Time to get big and strong and go play some ball.

While I would love to keep Bonzi, the tide seems to be moving against it with Martin coming on and other holes to fill. So while I don't personally have the time right now. if you want to get on realgm and find me a mega-trade which leaves our lineup for next year as:

C- Miller
PF- Chandler
SF- Artest
OG- Martin
PG- Bibby

6th- Nene
7th- Mike James
8th- Cisco

Then I will kiss you. :D

Er...maybe it would be more enticing if GGG did the kissing part. ;)

Feel free to burn up any and all other resources/players to acheive the above result. We'd be contenders.

Note that we didn't trade Peja for young players or picks. And I don't think Ron would be too happy if we did the same with Brad or Mike.

No, at least to me, the plan is clear. Rebuild on the fly around Mike, Ron, and Brad. These are the rare talents on the team, and the ones that have the most chemistry together. Try to bring in complementary players around that core. SAR is cheap and undervalued, but at least to me he's very expendable if we can get a guy like Chandler for him. Bonzi would make a nice tough-guy combo with Ron, but with the contract situation and Kevin waiting in the wings, he could be a goner too.

I feel like we should be able to upgrade PF with a SAR/Bonzi package.

Miller
(New PF)
Artest
Martin
Bibby

With Garcia as the 2/3 combo off the bench, and KT as the 3/4. To me, this seems to make the most sense. See if we can get a defensive PF (which IMO is infintesimally easier to get than a defensive C, so stop wasting your time everyone) and a Bobby-esque combo 1/2 for the combination of SAR, Bonzi, and the Philly Three.

At least that's what I'd do.

Edit: and, once again, Brick beats me to the punch. Sad.

I would start Tyson Chandler over Miller and put Nene at the PF spot. Then trade Miller for SG that can back up Martin.

Then you are rather missing the point. Balance. And size -- three 6'11+ players as a complete frontcourt rotation. One shoots, one hustles, one posts.

As an aside Cisco and James could back up Martin just fine. Back to the Bobby, Hedo, Pollard dynamic.

I suppose that all depends on the person(s) who comes up with the winning trade scenario, doesn't it?

Besides, I can only promise a kiss to the person who puts together a successful trade AND follows through with the necessary convincing/bribing/framing/blackmailing of all involved GMs to get it done.

You can give your lips away for a RealGM trade # if you'd like, but I'm apparently far more picky than you.

Successful Scenario
There were BYC players involved in this trade, so this trade is subject to the BYC provisions of the CBA. Due to Sacramento, Chicago, Toronto and Denver being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Sacramento, Chicago, Toronto and Denver had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out unless trade exceptions were used for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

We end up with a full 15 man roster but it would be worth it for that strong 8 man rotation of Bibby, Martin, Artest, Chandler, and Miller with Cisco, Nene, and James coming off the bench. :D

The Bulls do this because they get a big name center in Camby to replace Chandler while getting an offensive punch off the bench in Lenard. They will have to give up a lot of their PFs because Chandlers friggin BYC is so hard to get by but who knows, maybe they'll like Camby enough to pull the trigger. Their lineup ends up looking something like this..

PG- Hinrich/Duhon/Pargo
OG- Gordon/Lenard
SF- Deng/Nocioni/Piatowski
PF- Songaila/Harrington
C- Camby

Denver does this because maybe they think they were better off without Camby because since hes returned they've lost alot of their games. In the trade they get their shooter OG in Peterson and also get 3 good bigs in SAR, Skinner, and Sweetney. Their lineup will look something like this
PG- A. Miller/Boykins
OG- Peterson/Buckner/Johnson/Hodge
SF- Anthony/Najera/Kleiza
PF- Kmart/SAR/Sweetney
C- Elson/Skinner

Raptors do this deal to get a younger PG in Watson that can develop with Bosh and Villanueva. They also get Bonzi who they could either put him in the lineup or just to get even more salary space to resign Bosh and for Free Agents. They lose James but Watson looks very promising and Bonzi could provide a decent spark on defense for a team that desperatley needs one.
PG- Watson/Calderon/A.Williams
OG- Bonzi
SF- Villanueva/Graham
PF- Bosh/Bonner/Davis
C- Sow/Araujo/Woods

^Very impressive idea. Unfortunately I don't know that Denver would trade away Camby unless they had a good starting center. However, if Denver completes the long-rumored blockbuster trade with New York and lands Frye in the process, something like this might be slightly more realistic.

Well Jimmy, I am impressed you got all of those salaries to balance.

But...does this mean you actually want me to kiss you?

What have I started.

Well, guess now I know why they say careful what you ask for. Great work nonetheless. Now all we have to do is call roughly 1/4 of the GMs in the league and get 'er done. :p

I must say, while I don't know how plausible it is to get the two above deals done, but if either one of them happened I would be more than happy.

Is it possible to trade for Nene right now, and if you could, what would you do to keep him for next year?

Props to jimmy and nbrans.

And I'd like to add that if these deals took place over the summer, they'd be incredibly different, due to Chandler's BYC status changing, and the free agency of Nene, James, and Bonzi.

So get it done now, I say!
