Yes, WCS is a role player but he is the best this league has seen in awhile that can play the role he plays. He was not picked to be an all star. He was picked to make the team better. Interesting concept.
He is the worst free-throw shooting PG I've ever heard of in my life. He's been playing soft competition in China (worse than NCAA quality probably). I think he is a swindle.
BSPN keeps saying he won't be a scorer. That's not why we effing drafted him for! Shut the **** up already! I think we are going to see what Cousins really can do without having the worry as much about defense as he had before.
Big Big risk taking WCS, this, much like the George Karl hire was heavily campained for by the fans. As a small market with a pick so high you go for the star potential in Mudiay not a role player at best in WCS.
What I've heard about WCS injury is that he will probably need a surgery and some months rest soon, but it's not a worry long term... that's incouraging to me
It was a quick shot, but did anyone else notice the absence of Karl in the Kings war room? It was a real short clip but I didn't see him in the camera view at least.
Bilas shows his bias every year - he likes scorers.
We talk about how defense wins championships (it does) and yet there are exactly two prospects (WCS and RHJ) that will be drafted because they are elite on that side of the floor.
It's just human psychology that there needs to be someone for people to crap on, it balances out the praise they heap on all the other teams. It makes you seem smart or a good critic if you can offer negative criticism, even if it's not actually accurate. It's like a negativity quota. The Kings have not managed to avoid being the team that fulfills the league's collective negativity quota. Google the omega wolf.
In reality, though, we ARE KEEPING Cousins, and this pick confirms that. We don't need another first or second option. We need ****ing interior defense!!! And we have a defensive savant. For us, this is a fantastic pick.
I think you're right there. But it's a risk-reward thing. I think "at ceiling" Mudiay would be a bigger impact player than "at ceiling" WCS. It's just that the floor, and maybe the average, leans to WCS.
Too bad about Hezonja. Orlando has a good track record with Oladipo, Payton and Hezonja. Call me skeptical about this pick. Picking a meh rebounding defensive specialist at #6?
