Official 2013-14 Free Agent Tracking Thread

The question is: What can we offer? Our biggest tradable assets are guards (IT, Ben) as well!

That's basically been the best we could do for months, but yes.

That and our enders. If IT signed for enough $$ it occurs to me we might even be able to absorb the Gerald Wallace contract, which just might be enough to get Ainge to bite.

Let's say that IT somehow got his $8:

IT $8mil
Ben$3.0mil
Terry $5.5mil (ender)
DWill $6.7mil (ender)
-------------------
$23.2mil

Rondo $13mil
Wallace $10.1mil
-------------------
#23.1mil

Its not completely impossible looked at in that light. BUT, you may note that we in that scenario are signing IT to an $8mil contract...which shoots us into tax land when we trade that new salary for a Rondo salary. Still, we replace both the PG and backup SF we lost. I just have doubts that would have signed Collison if Rondo was really on the table. They could paly some together a little more than Collison/IT, but they'd still be tiny, so it would still likely be a platoon.

Parsons at 3 years 45M????? Wow, this is silly.

Well with Hayward and Parsons both going at $15m/year I think that we have to assume Rudy will end up in the same ball-park if we look to give him an extension this year or manage to re-sign him next year if he does explore free agency. I think the idea of keeping him around $12m (which is what I was sort of hoping for) is going to be slim-to-none.

I wonder if Deng is looking to get a similar contract considering that he is more accomplished than either Hayward or Parsons.

Anyone else catch our GM Pete D on sports 1140 today? When asked what he would like to improve on he responded:

"The pace of our game and the flow of the offense"

No mention of defense at all, and when asked about why he chose Nik in the draft he said it cause he was the best player available. He continued to say how if in next years draft the best player available is a SG hes gonna take him as well untill we improve as a team.

Just thought the no mention of defense was weird i guess. Although i have seen him quoted i think mentioning how we need shot blocking so maybe were not dead yet!

With the exception of occasionally mentioning a shot blocker, he almost never mentions d. He usually has to be asked about it.

We need to stop with the whole Pete never mentions defense, he is what he is. He did come from Golden State and Denver, two teams who don't play a lick of defense so this isn't any news. It's on his other front office personnel to get it through his head that is one of our biggest priorities otherwise we can go ahead and keep swimming in lottery purgatory. By the way, the Jazz should not match that absurd contract Charlotte offered to Gordon Hayward, my goodness 63 million for a 4th option (at best)? Parsons same thing...Let it go.

Yes, my initial reaction was yay, Rudy's contract doesn't look so stupid anymore. Then my second reaction was uhoh, but that means that enxt year its going to continue being an anvil.

P.S. You know who's contract is looking like a sweet smelling peach anymore?:

PDA had limited time and responded to Dave's questions. I was more interested in his comments about Sim than any of the usual platitudes.

League source confirms Greivis Vasquez has agreed to a two-year, $13m deal to return to Toronto.

There goes Vasques.. not that we wanted him back.

The length of the deal is nice but I find it ironic that people like zach Lowe are praising the deal while they killed the collison contract.

they should just stop with the defense bs. just come out of the closet and admit your all about the O.

your really gonna believe the bs that comes out of his mouth? they've spoke about D since they've come here and all we've seen is offensive players & their professed love of the warriors backcourt.

They don't have to talk about defense, they can ignore defense, they can do what they like in our FO. However, if we don't improve defensively this coming season and it's in large part due to the moves our FO made, I'll be calling for some heads to roll.

I doubt I'll be alone.

If you don't value defense, you don't value winning. My backside doesn't take kindly to smoke being blown up it. If the Kings are marketing defense as being our foundation, which they are, I'm going to hold them to it and judge them on it. When it comes down to it, what matters most in this league is what your 2-3 best players can do in crunch time and the level your squad can reach defensively as a unit. Up and down, run & gun basketball is a sideshow full of false hope and empty promises, based on the history of this league.

just as importantly:

Greivis $6.5mil
Collison $5.3mil

IT....now which side of those two guys do you think he's going to be on? Or at least expect to be on?

If we're truly going to go forward with Collison and McCallum as the two PGs, I wonder if there's any chance Beno or Luke Ridnour can be had for the vet minimum. Only having two PGs, one of them not even proven, really sucked last year. Given a shaky starter and an inexperienced backup, be nice to have a 3rd string cheap vet back there just in case.

My guess: IT believes he should be North of Vasquez.

Second guess: All his offers are South, or else we would have seen something concrete by now.

Third guess: Stauskas will run the point in limited minutes, which still doesn't answer the "steady vet" issue.

The teams interested in him most are teams that are in the Lebron/Melo sweepstakes.

I'm not surprised there's been nothing concrete personally.

I'm afraid that Melo turning down the Lakers will lead them to throw more money at IT. They are desperate to make a move! Probably one of the worst rosters of the league right now (except Kobe).

We're not really in a position to resign him or sign and trade him imo... I'm not holding my breath here.
