He was less than awesome in INdy and the Pacers need to money to resign Lance

That works for me although we would have to really hit the pavement for starting caliber pg. Livingston? Collison? Ehh. Although with smith you get closer to rondo. Ben + Williams + terry for rondo? Doubt that gets it done. We shall see. They drafted smart for a reason

In regards to a starting PG, if we got Monroe or Smith - Id be down starting Ray and giving him a chance to grow and develop a full year with Cuz and Gay.

For some reason, I feel like I've heard somewhere he hasn't been a good teammate...

League sources tell PBT that Isaiah Thomas is drawing interest from the Pistons, Mavs, Lakers, Heat and Suns.

Pistons have showed the most interest so far, talks have started in the 3/24M range. Other talks ranging from $6-7M per year.

If Isaiah Thomas is getting interest from the Pistons, could we be looking at a larger deal involving Josh Smith coming to Sacramento?

Yeah, league sources like Isaiah's agent.

Just read pistons also willing to give up Monroe in a s&t if he became too costly. I wouldn't mind getting back Monroe or smith if we had to send out IT. If it's gonna cost 8 mil, maybe package him with Landry and contracts should match up

Monroe is one of the worst shot-blocking bigs in the league. There was a 20-or-so day stretch where essentially every PG in the league, INCLUDING JIMMER, had more blocks than Monroe. That was because Monroe hadn't blocked a shot in X amount of days. He's looking for a max deal, so I don't think it's in the cards. Plus, I feel his offensive game is too similar to DMC's for them to coexist.

i thought he had problems with stevenson. if that is the case then its probably more on lance. just wondering if we should give another former #2 pick a shot at reviving his value

how was his defense though? altering shots? honestly i dont watch the pistons unless theyre playing the kings but sometimes having a couple 6'11 bigs with long arms in the lanes can alter shots without recording blocks. then again if he wants a max contract, that might be out of the question like you said

He's soft and one of those players that even though they are young, they seem like they've peaked. He's good, but no where near enough of an upgrade for a max deal.

Monroe is a terrible fit next to Cuz...but he is an excellent talent. It just...it would be the defense again. That nasty word around here.

He's very bland, offensively and defensively. Just because you're lanky doesn't mean you know how to use it. He's not particularly athletic and I believe his agent has gone on record saying Monroe deserves a max deal (I'm in the Detroit area).

Just for fun, I googled "Evan Turner bad teammate" and there's quite a bit of articles. Mostly from his ohio state days and his current situation. However, besides that, I'm not sure I personally would like to have him.. But I can see why some would and I can think of worse players to sign.

ET is a stronger Stauskas (waaay thicker) with great ball skills and a knack for attacking the rim. Outside shot? He's still trying to find it under the buffet table (yes, I think he's overweight and kinda' has mom arms going on). If he rededicates to bball he could be a very good player. I loved him out of Ohio State, but in the NBA, not s'much.

Can't shoot, that doesn't help much given his place on our likely totem pole. If he could defend...but no, not that either.

I don't know why people are surprised by the level of interest and the money IT will command in the free agency?! Its like Tyreke all over again. People around here seriously undervalue the player and focus too much on their flaws and not see the overall picture.

I am a big IT fan?! Far from it! But I do think that he is a very good player. Our best guard and teams around the league would love his game, hence the interest and the reported 8/24 which is what mentioned will be the ball park offers he will be getting. For all his flaws (and there are plenty) he is still one of the best guards available in FA.

I am intrigued that PHX are interested. This to me suggests that one of Dragic or Bledsoe might be moved on. In that case, more than happy to make that sign and trade. Bledsoe would be a brilliant get and so would Dragic but it is unlikely.

In sign and trades, the team signing and trading the player generally gets a quarter of the dollar back in terms of value.

Concerning the 4 spot. Getting Ed Davis would be huge for the King imo. Otherwise, I'd be happy with Sanders, although he raises some serious red flags.

I think you will find that a lot of us do not mind if we get Davis. Many of us would be intrigued but he cannot be it at that position. Just can't! There needs to be genuine veteran that is a starter on majority of other teams otherwise its a case of swinging for the fences with more chance of it not working out! Davis as a back up I am up for that but as a starter next to Cousins, I am not so sure about that!

"Sacramento, Charlotte, Minnesota, Orland and the champs from San Antonio all calling, I'm told, about Brooklyn free agent Shaun Livingston"

Not sure if posted already but there it is. Our name is getting out there and I like who we're going after. :)

Just re Monroe - yeah, bad fit next to Cuz. However, if you're getting him in a S&T for IT and other contract, you have to do it, just a big talent upgrade. It's unlikely given that Monroe is rumoured to be looking for that big contract, but if he was willing to take less, it's something you probably have to do. Especially considering everyone here wants more ball movement - Cuz and Monroe really would start to resemble Webb and Vlade up there as both are fantastic passers. Defensively different story, but the team would improve with two very talented offensive bigs out there. Smith in an IT S&T is more likely, but I wouldn't turn down Monroe for the right price. Can always move him on later if it doesn't work.

Given how many teams are interested in Monroe, there is no way in hell he takes less. He will get a big pay day no doubt. The question is will Detroit match or will they say no thanks and commit to Drummond-Smith front court. What happens with Monroe might have strong implications on our chances of getting Smith....if we are interested that is.

We'd have to move JT to sign Davis... probably not gonna happen. Sign and trade IT and give the mle to Collison... that's my projections.

Meeks had an outstanding year last season. Can guard 1's. THIS. IS. FA.

Outstanding is a gross overstatement. He played in a team that played to his strengths. He wouldn't get those minutes on a good team, and he was allowed to get open shots in a fast offense. Luckily, that's his strength. He's a great shooter, but he does literally nothing else. Over 6 mil per is a joke.

Nothing else? lol

If Detroit keeps Monroe (which it looks like they're leaning) Meeks will have plenty of space. Very underrated player on the rise, imo. Above average defender for a guard that can also guard PG's.

Happens every FA season. Guys get overpaid because that's what it takes to steal a player from another team (and all of the other teams). I don't think he's being grossly overpaid either, just above the MLE?
