I don't know about all of you, but I expect a much better year from Greg. Think about it, he has one more year left on his contract, and if he has another unproductive season, this coming year could very well be his last. He is also obviously embarrassed about the season he just had and embarrassment is one great motivator. I doubt the Kings will trade him because no matter the year he had, we still need big men and it's going to be harder and harder to trade him since his career is winding down. I don't know of any player that wants to fizzle out, especially one who was a starter for so long. That being said, I'm thinking that O-Tag is going to see a lot more minutes next year, especially if he shows up in shape, and it sounds like he's hitting it hard. He's also not afraid to go out and bang around, something we hardly ever see in Kingsland. What do YOU think?

yeah, I think he may very well, but whether he gets a chance to do that with us or not is doubtful. He's an ending contract, and clearly in Rick's doghouse. Has trade value with that contract, and we have normally shipped out unproductive problems fairly quickly.

No matter how he performs he just doesn't fit Rick's (if he stays in Sacto the next year) offensive flow IMO. That being said, I don't expect any flash from him.

The thing is that I can count numerous times this season that he came in and played very well. Then he would sit out the next 5 games. It completely baffles me. If given 15 minutes a night last season we would be talking about his productive year last year instead of the current discussion. I don't know if I trust Rick to use him properly.

I read a few weeks ago that OTag is hitting the weight room on a regular basis, is in a stiff training regime over the summer and is even RUNNING!! I think SDKing is right. His own embarrasment at his performance, or lack thereof, last year may be incentive enough. That and the weight room and a training regime for the next 3 months. Let's see what we hear later this summer.

Tags only role on the team should be to play when Brad gets 2 fouls in the 1st quarter. Tag should at the very most get 5 min a night just to wear out the opposing Center or Power Foward. If tag doesn't get 3 fouls in those 5 min then he isn't doing his job.

Greg played well last season when given time! Then Rick benched him anyway. "he doesn't match up well" was the excuse. Then Rick even said he had to find Tag some minutes after a stretch of well played games but instead Rick sat him down for an extended period again. You knew the nights Tag wasn't even going to play b/c he would sit in the FREAKING CROWD!

Look at Tags previous seasons and tell me his is a 5 minute a night guy. The only guy we had on the whole team that could rebound and play D and he never saw any court time. Out of shape or not that was rediculous.

He won't because all Adelman cares about is offense. Tag doesn't help on the offensive end so he won't play him.

I seem to rememer watching some highlights from a game against the Suns which we won towards the end of last season where 'Tag got more minutes than usual and pulled down a few boards.

Especially if we dont have Darius next season then Tag will have a role to play similar to that of Pollard a few seasons back...come off the bench, be physical and give our starting centre (lets assume its Brad) a bit of a break.

If his efforts are going to result in sending the likes of Wade or Shaq to the freethrow line then i'd applaud that rather than an open lane to the basket.

GP knew exactly what he was getting when he signed Greg. When he first came here, O-Tag's talk was all about, "I know my role," and "I've never been a big scorer." Brad can put up the points, and Greg can do the dirty work, maybe get a couple of buckets in the process. Let's not forget that Brad had some 30 plus point performances this year, so I don't think scoring is much of an issue. How many points did Skinner score a night as a starter? Granted he did play well at the beginning and was suffering some injuries, but he's too undersized as a center. I think Skinner would be most effective as a backup PF to whoever we sign, if he isn't traded. Let Greg play backup to Brad, and give him some minutes, especially if he shows up in shape. I want to see that hillbilly play some mean ball.

I agree with SacTownKid. Tag performed very well in his limited minutes on the court, with Adelman repeatedly vowing to "find" more time for him. Tag did even better in the playoffs, almost bringing us back from the dead in either game 1 or 2 (I forget which, but Tag went in the game and we made a huge run sparked by his defense and rebounding). Of course, that type of inspired performance led to a benching for the rest of the series, presumably because "he doesn't match up well."

Kevin could actually become more than a role player. He's young, he's full of enthusiasm and has skills, he's like a yearling. Let's wait and see how he performs in his second year before we scratch him off as a possible Kentucky Derby entry.



As far as Tag goes, I think he's made it clear repeatedly that he doesn't hold Adelman responsible for his lack of playing time. Tag has admitted he didn't try to stay in "shape," that he really lost focus, etc. I heard from someone that Tag has been at the practice facility, actually doing some work... That in and of itself should be cause for optimism if not outright celebration.

Otag's stats weren't that bad when he actually got playing. He's obviously not a scorer.

And this is a very true statement. Thats why I didn't by the "out of shape" crap reason for not playing him. Although he was more out of shape than I have ever seen him, but if he had gotten some consistent minutes he would've been back in shape in no time.

I didn't see adlemans reasoning when the kings couldn't buy a rebound in several games. We were getting killed on the boards playing undersized guys. All we had was miller and he was still a bit hurt. Ostertg "finally" is allowed to come in and the game changes. We're getting boards again, good things are happening. Greg is a good rebounder and defender. He should be played more than he is and certainly against taller people like yao and strong people like shaq. We get killed when adleman just lets him sit.

I hope adleman just dislikes him rather than not thinking he is needed in the game at certain points. Because if adleman is not getting it, we're potentially sunk as a team, in critical situations.

I've heard that Tag is working out much more this off-season and he has publicly stated he's going to come into camp in shape and ready to play. I agree that there were a lot of times when it seemed very strange that Adelman didn't bring Tag in but I have to think there was a good reason why.
